DIY mallet putter cover?

Has anyone out there ever made their own mallet putter cover? If so, could you walk me through the process?

I did, turned out OK and I used it for for a while.  Found a leather supplier online and bought a bunch of cheap scraps in the color I wanted.  Went to JoAnn and bought some fake lambswool type of material for the inside.  Then got some circle magnets from Home Depot.

I took the stock headcover from my putter (Odyssey 7) and rough guessed the size of the pattern to cut out.  Cut out the top and bottom and then a strip about an inch wide to use as a side.  Sewed them all together and cut the soft lambswool material to size and glued it to the insides of the material.  I glued a magnet in between the leather and filling and then another between two pieces of leather on the flap.  

I also did one where I found a hockey glove that just fit over the putter I was using.  Glued soft material inside and used that one for quite a while too.  Here are the threads from back when I did them.

How's this for cheaping out and a 'quick and dirty'?

-- old fairway cover .. some kind of lightly padded (nylon?) fabric

-- easy on / easy off
-- protects the face batter than the stock one that came with the putter
-- actually fits pretty well
