Wow! I haven't attempted picking anyone up on waivers, have looked at a few and had zero idea what to bid! Those are crazy spends IMO, but what do I know! This is my first go around with fantasy golf and any fantasy sport in years. Having fun so far but definitely feel at a disadvantage because of my lack of experience / time / and forgetfulness LOL

I'm with you, I really have no idea how this works. I don't even know how much this thing is going to cost me. Pretty scared it's like $500. I'm just trying to pick the right guys who can make the weekend.

Sub 70 949 D 9* HZRUDS 60G 6.5 smoke RDX shaft.

Sub 70 949X 4 wood ALDILA ABV 65-S shaft

Sub 70 699 Pro 4-AW

Sub 70 3 utility 19*

Callaway 56 and 58 wedge.

I like it as well. Definitely more difficult. I haven't gotten a week right yet, but have slowly improved each week.

I think there were benefits to both formats. Yes this is more engaging, but also requires players to pay more attention. Thats great for now, but how will be it be 16 weeks from now? I hope everyone stays engaged and having fun, but that is one benefit to the best ball is it is easier to field a team passively.

That’s true, the number of people that check out as the season matures could climb in this format.  Hopefully that doesn’t happen.

Week 3:  Waste Management Phoenix Open Recap!
Another week done and dusted. Scottie Scheffler picks up a deserved win in a playoff vs Cantlay. A bit of a bitter sweet victory for all of us watching as I think all would have liked to see Theegala in that playoff after his standout performance all week. Exciting event to watch with hole in ones, beer cans being thrown all over, tough fast greens and overall a fun exciting event for our viewing on Superbowl weekend!

Now onto the fantasy side of things!

Our leaderboard after 3 weeks looks like this:
Screenshot 2022-02-14 06.32.49.png

This being a brand new format and season it is tough to say what record or win percentage you would need in order to have the best chance at making playoffs and it is REALLY early. That being said credit to @cciciora13 on his 89 wins through 3 weeks. Impressive to say the least!

Our top scoring team of the week was @GolfSpy_APH with 266.7. Lead by winner Scheffler, runner up Cantlay and T5 Brooks. @Dawg061 was the other undefeated squad this week.

Side note it is nice knowing you can still win out a week even if you do not have all 5 make the cut. Of course some extra luck is needed, but still nice as I'm slowly getting more guys making the cut each week.

Our league average was the highest it has been so far at 174.8. As well we had 8 teams crack the 220 barrier.

In terms of players left on the wire this week. Overall there wasn't nearly as much there, but still some points potentially left with these guys having been available for the WMO.
Screenshot 2022-02-14 06.32.11.png

We now move onto Genesis where Max Homa won last year. Another week with a lot of rostered players are in the field which I would guess means we don't have quite as much action on the waiver wire.

Of course some big names were traded this week with the likes of Rahm, Morikawa and others moving teams.

Al in all a fun week of golf and ended just in time to watch the Superbowl!

Good luck to everyone this week and happy trading/waiver wiring and all that!

I went with $11 figuring bids would be 0-10

I actually started at 21 and kept remembering Connors going for 100 - I thought a guy just outside the top 50 should go for about 50 if that were the case and bumped it up.  I really wanted him.  Still stingy over the English injury, I had my team right where I wanted it and then that........

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

It’s all a guess.  I personally would never pay $100 for Theegala.  While he has done well, he is in the same boat as Zalatoris was last year.    Needs exemptions to play week to week  and a win to get in the playoffs.  Not sure I would have spend all my money for that.  Palmer was a good pickup as he is highly ranked and will get into the bigger events so in my mind worth what you paid.

I would not have paid that for Theegala either - I would have considered a very high bid for Corey Connors though - didn't he recently go for $100?  I was basing my bid off of him.  Last year I bid in the 60's to get Kokrak.  He was worth it - his season last year was a Rahm light one - top 25 every week as opposed to top 10 but that consistency really paid off.

While I'm on a roll here I was wondering about our playoff format - it seems that we reward regular season performance far more than the sport does.  Could we possibly consider some sort of sliding scale of bonus points or a reset of bonus points each week (not for this season but the future)?  In the end the bonus strokes don't come until the final tournament for the tour.

As far as I know Theegala should be eligible for FedEx, he's listed in the rankings where last year you had to search for the non-member list to find Zalatoris.

Your right, he did earn his tour card.  I assumed since he got a sponsors exemption into the event he didn't have status,  it must be a low status.

I'm excited for The Genesis this week because I will have DJ, Rory, and Leishman all playing at the same time for once. Hopefully Hoge stays hot and Pieters makes some noise!

Just have to say (and not trying to ignite a debate):  I’m finding the start ‘em/sit ‘em format this year to be much more fun and engaging than last year.  I got a couple wrong this week, but that’s part of the fun right?

I really agree, though I think it has made the waiver wire much more competitive (already used more $ then I had last year haha). I do wonder if we might see a steeper drop off from the bottom of the standings, hopefully the engagement stays with it.

Week 4: Genesis Invitational Recap
Another week and another new winner on the tour season. Niemann comes home with a wire to wire win! Congrats to him and a fun weekend of golf. Sadly I didn't watch any of the weekend and only saw Thurdsday/Friday play, but the course looks firm and fast and well awesome as its Riv.

Along with the tour having a new winner we have another new leader ontop of our overall standings with @jddaigneault climbing this way to the top.
Screenshot 2022-02-21 08.58.06.png
Just goes to show how much can change in a week! It really is a enormously long season and consistency will be key in getting through the season successfully.

We had 6 teams crack the 220 barrier and one who came oh so close with 219.5. I still think this is a good number for referencing.
@blackngold_blood took home the title for high scoring team of the week with 257.15 points! A huge week and he had a few close and hot on his tail for the title this week.

Our league median seems to have found a sweet spot around the 160 mark for most weeks (majors it will climb with bonus points) and this week is no exception as it finished at 159.7.

The forgotten players -
Screenshot 2022-02-21 08.57.35.png

Now that we are one month into the season I thought it would be good to look at our season leaders in points so far. Some names may surprise you and some may not. It is still early after all and wins definitely bump players up, however it is still telling for some of the top players so far this season.

Screenshot 2022-02-21 09.11.11.png

Now we are onto Honda... a interesting field, but it is still golf and fantasy points and wins are still up for grabs! Good luck all and thanks for reading!

In your team settings, you can change it to auto submit if you make moves. Might help for future weeks.
