So, during the MGS live feed 2021 Raffle, Adam and Harry dropped some early intel on one of the drivers currently in testing that has yielded "the fastest ball speeds they ever recorded".  That is to say each tester using this driver so far, has recorded their fastest ball speeds.  Let's see who the forum thinks makes this new bomber?  I'm going with Taylormade.

Wow, lots of OEM's feeling no love.  Thus far looks like a 3 way race for the "hottest face off the tee" moniker.  Given the surge in swing speed training going on, this title is undoubtedly motivating the engineering and marketing teams more so than ever.  Off the fairway?... who cares... I hit it tree-fiddy dude 😆.

I think part of that is because we know these 3 have had their new 2022 drivers out on the wild. As far as most of us know Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Srixon and others are still on their 2021 versions.

I don't know, but I think the delay of Top Gun 2 caused some brand name annoyances. First Callaway tried to get in on it with Maverik, now TM is going for Stealth (which is the new jet in the movie). I joined the navy because I watched Top Gun at a very young and influential age, now the ad teams are trying to lure me in again. But I'm on to them.

I guess if it (Top Gun 2) gets delayed another year, Cobra will come out with the "Need for Speed" as next years line. Or at least use it as their marketing pitch with Bryson hitting balls off the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.... Okay, if they do that I will buy it... And I want some credit for the campaign.

I picked Callaway.  No reason than I hope it is.  That way, I can try my collection of optifit shafts on the Callaway head.  I don't need another collection of shafts with Taylormade or Cobra hosels 🙂

Well now, what a difference a day makes. Cobra is now getting lapped by both TM and Callaway.  If only I had the ability to see who @cnosilpicked 😆.  Radspeed vs. Jailbreak vs. Twist face... who will prevail?

I would say mizuno is making huge strides with their driver. They have a fantastic low spinning drivers and both of the last 2 models have been quite forgiving. They just aren’t making enough of a dent in the big boys.  If you were to flip a professional on the rise it may turn some heads. I know they have gone after some of the YouTube golf vloggers which may help gain some traction in the younger crowds. Taylor made and callaway I would think are head to head with pushing the needle for fastest speeds

Well. Here’s the answer: TaylorMade. Tony talks about his ball speed gains, and had mentioned it in the launch article. Looks like it is the “fastest”.

Well their goes the build-up and suspense of this years Most Wanted Driver tests 😆.  I wonder if that was with different shafts as well?  I see they offer the Ventus Red and Adalia Accent Red as no upcharge options.  I think the Hit Squad tests are all done with stock shaft offerings.

Now that they changed the color scheme to match the red and black accents of my ZX5's... what more do I need to know/see?

Hot off the press today!!

TaylorMade Stealth Drivers with Carbon-Fiber Faces | MyGolfSpy

Callaway Rogue ST Drivers (MAX, MAX D, MAX LS and Triple Diamond) | MyGolfSpy

This is quite a statement from TM:

"TaylorMade is so committed to the Carbonwood that it has said it will never make another titanium-faced driver. It’s so serious, in fact, that job titles are changing. Guys have literally had the Metalwood in their job tiles changed to Carbonwood."

Clearly they have done sufficient crash testing to assure themselves that their 60x face can stand up to the repeated pounding.  As someone who spent 30 years in aerospace, delamination of carbon-fiber laminates is one of the first things that comes to mind.

Also in the TM article is the discussion of COR vs. CT as it pertains to face flexure/rebound properties/limits.  Count me in amongst those unaware that there is a new standard.  So are the folks from Taylormade first to try and leverage these changes?  I need to do a little more research into this.  There is probably a thread somewhere that I missed.

P.S> found this article on the subject... dang, I'm so behind 😆

Well. Here’s the answer: TaylorMade. Tony talks about his ball speed gains, and had mentioned it in the launch article. Looks like it is the “fastest”.

We will have to see.  May not be for all testers; I hit the stealth today and it wasn't my fastest.   It was very consistent though.

Most wanted testing is done with the various stock offerings.   They tweak the shafts to get good launch/spin conditions.

I'm starting to get into the big boys during testing....today was a Cobra driver,  Stealth, and Callaway Rogue triple diamond LS.    May have an answer for the poll soon 🙂
