New SM9 release means two things...

1) Something new to explore

2) Price drop on the SM8 which were pretty great IMO.

Anyone have any more info besides the photos on the socials?

Why would you start a thread on SM9's without including pictures? They look a lot like previous models, what's different?

Looks like used 7's are going between $60-$90 on eBay.

Was about to do my due diligence lol thanks for saving me the research! Tough part is I really like the 7s I have and I’ll easily get 2 more serviceable years out of them…..the dilemma……

I’m thinking the 8’s will drop to 130ish when the 9s release. That’s my best guess based upon what we’ve seen years past.  I could be wrong.

Because I’m a monster

they really stay around there? Incredible…..new 3 hybrid and keep the wedges? Swap out to 8s instead?….. or the likely scenario…..all of it…..

I'd like to say I am wrong but I would prefer to overestimate it and then see them in the 120 range.  To be honest, I love my SM8 50* and buying a 58 or 60 for a slight discount is very appealing.

I love my 48. I have 52/56/60 slate in the 7’s and going to 8 I would only get the 52/60 as I have the 56 in the bench being able to do really anything I need with the 52/60. Will most likely jump. The 8’s are fantastic

Price drop on the 8s will probably come later this month once they are officially released at the pga show or shortly after.

Imo they are putting out pics because like every year Hawaii is when pros start testing in game mode new releases. Just like TM releasing some pics of the new driver before Hawaii vokey is doing the same

They were scheduled for Tour Seeding in November, but decided they wanted to wait until the new year when more staff was actually playing them ans shorten the time between seeding and launch (coming soon).  But still look for a late Feb or March to see at retail.

Well I got fit for sm8s during the middle of last year. Played so well with my old wedges I decided to use them through the rest of the year. Wrapped the sm8s up like they were from Santa, only to see sm9s being released🤦🏻‍♂️

I personally cannot wait for their official release to the general public.  As a Titleist loyalist and member of Team Titleist, we received this announcement this morning.  Of course they do make their debuts on the tour first to get the feedback from the pros.  😉

"New Vokey Design SM9 wedges (the next generation of the PGA Tour’s most-played wedges) are making their debut this week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui.

Bob Vokey, Aaron Dill, and the rest of the Vokey team have spent the past 2 years tirelessly testing and refining prototypes with the top players in the world. Now it’s time to put them through their final test on golf’s biggest stage.

Be sure to stay tuned to Titleist.com and our social channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) over the coming weeks for updates as the introduction of SM9 wedges rolls out across the worldwide professional tours."

I've tried a several other wedges over the past 15 years and the Vokeys always seem to have the right balance and look for me.  I don't see that there is anything interesting or different with these compared to the last couple models, but there hasn't really had to be.  As a Lefty, my options are narrowed from the start, so I appreciate when companies have several options available.

Lots of good wedges out there and much comes down to feel and look preference over the fitting part of it in opinion, second only to a putter.  With irons, hybrid, and woods, it seems like technology plays a larger role for me at least.

I am highly confident that the reason for the new wedges is that the list price on the SM8 is $159 and several other manufacturers are getting over $200 for their new wedges.  So, I'm expecting a price of $199 for these.

Just got Vokey SM9 in 54 F Grind and 58 D Grind. They replaced 2 CBX 2 wedges that were too ‘bulky’. They will go with my Titleist T300 irons and have the same Mitsubishi Fubuki MV shafts. 8” of snow today, so I won’t know if this was a good switch until either in a simulator or Spring.
