Constant putter changing

New here, almost looking for validation. Putter apart my bag is relatively constant and it has no doubt helped get my handicap down even if still a weekend hack! Prefer blades, have tried just about everything. I have a new BB1F, a Spider X, a Nike Method 001 and a rare Odyssey metal x milled 6 with no sight line. All are mint, yet I putt best with the milled 8802. No lines, lovely feel, better distance control and confidence. Yet every 3-4 games I change because its part of the fun! Anyone else do the same?

That statement is all you need to say;  if you enjoy playing different putters then play different putters.   I used to change all the time but now change every year or so just to experiment.

LOL and thanks. Hard to see me stop changing. The BB1F is 36", which is throwing me more than I thought. Everything else is 35". I stand at 6ft4. Sight lines are the other changeable!

Do what you want, but I'd say if you are changing putters that often you are never giving yourself a chance to become consistent and really lock in with one putter. How well do you putt? If you're down around 30 or better per round, I guess it's not hurting you. If you're not, I'd say pick a putter and really work on it for a few months to see if you can get there. It's the fastest and easiest way to lower the handicap. Unless changing putters is more fun than scoring well.

And I think this is the important question to ask. OP, is it more important for you to drop your score or to change out your putter? I know people that lean both ways, similar to how my playing group tries to play each course at most twice or three times per year (there are a lot in and around Salt Lake). For me, I love the variety, but I will be the first to admit that the constant changing is part of the reason my handicap hasn't really dropped. And for me, that's perfectly fine and worth it so that I can play each of Eagle Mountain, Thanksgiving Point, the Ridge, Glenmoor, Glendale, Bonny, River Bend, River Oaks, etc.

Rag tag bag, but it does the job.

I swap between a mid mallet scotty, a tour rat, miura blade and a seemore blade.

Has zero impact on my putting or scoring. Like you I enjoy messing with clubs. My bag isn’t set in any spot though

For me the putter is the last piece of the puzzle. I have 7 putters, I tinker with all of them thru the winter hoping that one of them will "be the one", haven't found it yet, which is why I keep searching and buying putters. But I got agree with the OP, it sure is fun to get a new putter and finding out what it can do!!!

Guilty, but don't change putters every 4 rounds, its not that frequent.

im going for a putter fitting later this week, i think that will help me from not cycling through so many putters.

ORRRRR it'll give you even more opportunity to cycle through putters. I played the same mid-mallet for nearly 20 years. Then I got a fitting and know what to look for. According to my fitter, literally any of the putters that match those specs is gameable. (For me, I need a heavy head, milled face, 2.5 degrees of loft, 34" shaft, and 69-degree lie angle and I generally line up mallets better than blades.)

So yeah, I'm now constantly wondering about getting 3-4 more putters in those specs so I can have some variety...

If you have the cash to try new putter every 3-4 rounds and add it to your harem Why not? I have 3-4 putters I rotate through   Have made changes to the shaft length and /or grips and that makes it “new” for me

Wait, putters last more than one round???  I have been doing this all wrong for the last 20 years.

Now to be serious some do it to experiment and others do it because they can’t putt. I am in the latter group and own the putters to prove it.

I’ve always been someone who tinkers. This  past season I continued to tinker with my driver shafts, but tried to stick with one putter- an Odyssey Two Ball Ten Triple Track. I had a lot of success for me (Ive never been a great putter), averaging 32 putts a round. There were days when I wondered if I would have had better results with another putter, but I stuck with it. That thought of “what if?” is a mighty powerful draw and will probably result in me tinkering again- especially when my putting on a what keeps me out of shooting in the 60’s.

If it adds to the fun of the game, switch at will for sure. I’ve found switching out to give a fresh look after like 15 rounds especially if the last round was a bad putting round for some reason helps to change my eye and when I go back to my gamer after I feel more comfortable. I only keep two putters or I’d be tempted to switch more often. I do love my gamer and invested a good amount so I try to use it for the majority of my rounds.
