I'm going to take my wife and kids (24,21) more, whenever they want to go, even if its not the most convenient for me. Continue to play with my brothers, whenever schedules allow. But most importantly the last 1.5 years has taught me this. That as a 55 year old, 30 year retired, policeman who has lost people 44, 47, 58, 60, 63 and 67 years old, fellow policemen, and personal friends all, that life is too short to really give two shits about anything that happens on a golf course, from this point forward Even this year I was playing so poorly that I let it get to me and quit after 9 holes. I love playing the game but I REFUSE to allow it to affect me negatively in ANY WAY, from this point forward. I am not unique, and I mean no offense to anyone, I know everyone deals with difficulties in their own lives as all of you do. I am still going to try and improve my golf game, I am just not going to care if I do or don't get better anymore, I am just going to be happy playing a game I enjoy, with people I care about. I wish everyone success in their golf goals whatever they are, but much more importantly I wish everyone success, health and happiness with your families and friends. Joking goals: - Convince my wife to let me bring my putter into the delivery room to pass the time with. Convince my wife to let me bring helmet wearing baby to the golf course. Sounds like my program, especially the third. If I’m not enjoying it, what’s the point? I learned years ago that score is a very small part of enjoying golf. If the weather is decent and I’m playing with three other guys I enjoy, what I score can’t spoil the day. OTOH if I’m having the round of my life in bad weather (unlikely) and/or with guys I don’t like, that’s not my idea of enjoyment. Fortunately I’m in a league of 60+ guys with only a couple I don’t much care to play with - but I can put up with anyone for 4 hours in a life that’ll probably be 700-800,000 hours. The birdies is doable if only because of how often I play (2 golf leagues during the summer weeks and then a Saturday group). Playing with "randoms" is something I have slowly started to love, generally people are good. Even at my handicap I'm not in their league.
