Mizuno BR-DX Golf Bag?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this bag?  Can't find much online or any real detailed reviews.  Looking for a 14 way hybrid that will mainly be used on a push cart/trolley.  Like some of the features it has over the Titleist with the cooler pocket, magnetic close, etc.  Think it's only a 9.5" top though so not sure how well it works getting clubs in and out.

Got confirmation from Mizuno that it only has 6 full length dividers with the 14 way top.  Very misleading in the write up.

@FUGAZI , I've been going back and forth between the BR-DX, Titleist Hybrid 14, and the C130S.  I was sold on the C130S but can't find the all black anywhere.  Sun Mountain hasn't had them on their site for like a year.  I don't understand that.  Anyways, I really like the BR-DX in all black, but now you're saying that only 6 of the 14 club dividers are full-length?  That's odd...

Correct.  Take a look at the Q&A under BR-DX on the Mizuno site.  I posted the question there so it came directly from the source.  Not sure why they did that as it has so many great features.  Misleading they way they state it on the site.  I'm guessing the BR-D4C is the same as the DX

I have had the Ogio 14 way for a few years now and have been very happy. Has a larger top than 9.5”, cooler pocket, and full-length dividers. Great bag.

Good to know.  That just doesn't make sense why they did that.  I really like the looks of that Mizuno.  I guess I'm back to C130S, if I can ever find inventory, or the Titleist Hybrid 14.  Thanks.

I have the Titleist Hybrid 14 as well for my trips to the range. I like it.

I have the BRD4 and love it.  The BRD4 is basically the BRDX with a 6 way top which I prefer over full length dividers.  Love it because the stand is perfect for the range and practice area and the base works perfectly on my ClicGear and on a standard cart.

I think the manufacturers place too much emphasis on weight for their stand bags which is my guess why they only do 6 way full length dividers despite the 14 way top.  Ping does the same thing with the Hoofer 14. 

Once I load up my bag with 14 clubs, alignment sticks, balls, tees, water bottle, sunscreen, etc I really don't see much point in saving 4 oz of polyester. even if you are carrying it around for 18 holes.

I have been using 14 way tops for years. I found the 9.5 tops to be too small once out on the course. I know prefer 10.5 so much, that I will never go smaller.

I don't know about their current bag lineup, but I purchased the MIZUNO BR-D4 cart bag a couple years ago.  Everything was great except for the internal structure.  After a year, the bag wouldn't stand up on its own on level concrete. Still have it, leans in the corner holding "timeout" and older clubs, looking at my Sun Mountain C130S.  The MIZUNO wore well, everything works properly, plenty of storage, too bad it's the drunk of golf bags.

For what its worth, I'm a big fan of Mizuno in general and as a club maker. I'm playing the MP-20's now and love them but have no experience with the bag you are referring to but do have some recent experience with the bag selection dilemma. I ended up going with Titleist's "Cart 15" bag. It is all what I thought it would be with the cooler pocket too and individual sleeves. Perfect for 14 clubs and a ball retriever or whatever. Loads of storage and handles top and bottom for ease of lifting in and out of the trunk. It ran me about $260 bucks. Yesterday I got an email from Vice Golf promoting their new bag. I think Titleist is making it for them or whoever is making it for Titleist is making it for Vice as well cuz it looks exactly the same only some cooler color combos. Might be worth a peak.

I have this same setup, Mizuno BRD4 that I usually use on a ClicGear 3.5+, and have been very pleased with it.  I’ve also recently had a Sun Mountain C130 and a TaylorMade cart bag (can’t remember the model) but like a stand bag for range sessions.  The Sun Mountain stand bags aren’t ideal for use on a push cart IMO because of the stand mechanism “foot” that gets in the way of the base sitting properly.

I have the new BR-D4c in the Heather Gray and Navy. It is their newest cart bag option as I almost always walk with a push cart or drive. A few points of note for any buyers vs my Ping Pioneer from 2014ish. I love my Ping, but it's due for a change, it's pretty beat up. 

The new Mizuno is nice, looks sharp, but it is about an inch or so shorter and more of my clubs stick out, exposing some extra shaft. The 14 way top is indeed not full length, my old ping was, but the old top divider snags my oversized grips. The Mizuno top is nicely spaced out for the grips I use.

The fleece lined valuables pockets which are listed are not fleece lined, so the old Ping has that beat with 2 valuables pockets that have nice, thick, soft and durable fleece.

The cooler is about the same size as the Ping, so not as large as indicated, nor could it be as it is shorter, probably holds about a 6 pack pretty tightly, maybe more like a 4 pack. The ball pocket would have to be pushed out for the 6 pack to fit comfortably. The Mizuno cooler has a much thicker reflective cooler lining that should keep the balls from getting cold on the other side, my Ping has an issue there. I cannot store my balls next to the cooler without them coming out freezing, and, according to Tony, changes their performance. This shouldn't be a problem on the new bag but I've yet to test on a really warm day with ice cold beer in there. 

The fleece lined snap shut enclosure is great for a tiny rangefinder or something except that it presses directly against the only large upper pocket in the front that isn't the removable ball pocket down by the cooler. The fleece is thin and cheap feeling and the pocket is tiny. The upper pocket in front of the snapping fleece pocket would be the catch-all for tees and tools, all the non wearables and gear items that go into your bag that aren't balls, and this fleece pocket hangs loose into this slightly larger pocket so whatever is in there is going to get squeezed knocked around. It may be good for keys, but loses its quick function for a rangefinder once other things are in the pockets. It is further cramped by the pass-through for the strap. The club compartment has an very rigid plastic casing inside and it is a very tight pass-through to begin with as I have trouble passing my fingers through with a strap, so a firm riding cart strap is alright, but my bungee style push cart cord is tricky. The old Ping didn't have all the upper pockets, but it had the same amount distributed lower below the cart strap area so I didn't really gain much. In the end the snap fleece liner may be best for a few balls for buddies to grab when one of us snap hook something out of bounds off the tee, but its not big enough for much more.

The side apparel pockets are pretty comparable in size with the Ping and I think one of the 20 pockets advertised includes a zipper access into the center of the bag near the shafts through one of the larger, inner apparel pockets. I'm not sure this should count. And to further this point, the only way I can get close to 20 pockets and compartments is to count this access zipper and the pencil and tee holders and the longer marker compartments. There are 2 marker compartments, which I'm not sure why you'd need more than one. This control center area is cool, but not as well executed as it was advertised, they are on the right track. 

It sounds like a lot of dislike now that I read back on what I've written, but there are some points of note that I really do like. The aforementioned ball compartment is removable so I can sew a custom patch on it or something giving me the option to personalize it somehow. The base has a nice slot for my push cart base to line up and sit square as I move around the course. The top divider and handles are all durable and sturdy feeling. The colors are really nice and the material has a pretty good feel, not too plasticky or light, but not too thick either, so I'll be curious how long lasting it will be. The zippers on the valuables pockets are waterproof if not fleece lined, and the rest of the craftsmanship on the bag is really good looking; metal trim on zipper pulls big enough for Mizuno logos and the branding on the rest of the bag is there, but not over the top.

I shopped quite a bit for a bag, this one was only available online so I took a shot at it. All in all I look forward to wearing it out too, but there is a bit of buyer's remorse vs the new Ping Pioneer. I did, in fact, buy this bag hoping the 14 way top were full length dividers as the new Ping does not have 14 full length dividers either. The website is misleading on this and a few other things. The Taylormade bag also seemed like better material, but the Mizuno stacks up with all the other high end bags that I was looking at. The Cobra bag seems like flimsier plasicky material. All of them are super light, none are heavy enough to make a difference once loaded up with gear. After all is said and done I should have gone with the Ping Pioneer again, I think I'd get a slight bit more functionality out of its features, more seem to be thought through and better executed in their function as well as more tried and true; also some more longevity with thicker materials. However, I am in love with the new Mizuno and very much look forward to pushing it around for another half-decade or so until life demands a new bag again! 

PS- Global Golf had a pretty good deal vs other online retailers and Mizuno, about 30 bucks in my favor.

Agreed with everything you just said. 
 

I love my sun mountains I have for when I used to carry my clubs or for when I play 9 without my clicgear, but the stand mechanism is no bueno on a push cart

Has all the pockets you can and would ever need the clubs go in and out very eazy, straps to my Clicgear like a champ
