Srixon Introduces the All-New Z-STAR DIAMOND

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Jan. 10, 2022 — SRIXON®, a global leader in golf ball technology and innovation, announces the all-new Z-STAR DIAMOND golf ball. The Srixon Z-STAR DIAMOND officially launches in North America on Jan. 21, 2022.

"Z-STAR DIAMOND is a game-changer for me," said Brooks Koepka. "This golf ball was a major driver in joining Srixon and it's been a seamless transition. The performance is really impressive, and I feel confident heading into the new tour season."

The new Z-STAR DIAMOND was one of the primary factors in bringing new Team Srixon staffer Brooks Koepka on board. Koepka, a four-time major winner, found that the Z-STAR DIAMOND worked perfectly for his desired launch and spin conditions, and immediately put the ball in play at Capital One’s The Match on November 26th.

“By working closely with our global Tour staff, we created the Z-STAR DIAMOND ball as an enhancement to our premium Tour lineup,” said Jeff Brunski, Vice President of Research and Development at Srixon. “The Z-STAR DIAMOND is something of a best-of-both-worlds type product, blending many of the benefits of our two current models. Like the Z-STAR XV, the Z-STAR DIAMOND produces really good ball speed and distance. But thanks to a slightly thicker cover, the Z-STAR DIAMOND features exceptional spin and control on approach shots.”

With a blend of greenside control and long-game distance, the new Z-STAR DIAMOND also delivers the unique benefit of increased spin on long and mid-iron shots. The Z-STAR DIAMOND is the ideal ball for high-speed players looking to hold the green from anywhere on the course.

The foundation of the Z-STAR DIAMOND is the FastLayer Core, which is soft at its center and firm around its outer edge. That duality provides speed and great feel so everyone can play with more confidence and distance.

Meanwhile, this golf ball features Srixon’s proprietary Spin Skin with SeRM, a durable urethane coating that digs deep into wedge and iron grooves on every impact to increase friction and maximize spin and control.

“Z-STAR DIAMOND has been a very popular model with our PGA Tour staff, and the Diamond should definitely be considered by the higher-swing-speed, better player looking for the best performance available,” Brunski said.

Key Technologies:

  • FastLayer Core: The new FastLayer Core starts soft in the center and gradually becomes firm around its edge, it gives high-speed players exceptional feel and plenty of ball speed for maximum distance.
  • SpinSkin with SeRM: A new, thicker thermoplastic urethane cover features SpinSkin with SeRM, a durable coating with flexible molecular bonds. It digs deep into wedge and iron grooves, maximizing spin for more control and stopping power.
  • 338 Speed Dimple Pattern: The new 338 Speed Dimple Pattern delivers less drag and more lift boosts overall distance and flies true, even in the toughest wind conditions.

First release of 2022 I'm interested in. Already switched to the Z-Star a few years ago, so I may get a dozen for my February birthday. Don't sleep on Srixon.

Definitely looking forward to finding some of these in the trees and crap and testing them out 🤣

Joking aside, these look really interesting. I'm going to enjoy seeing the ball test data on them. I've always enjoyed Srixon balls, especially how they spin around greens.

Rag tag bag, but it does the job.

Personally, I'm super-intrigued by a high-compression 3pc offering. I really like the MTB-X for exactly this reason. I like the XV a lot, but off the irons, I have trouble really maximizing performance. Definitely wondering if this could be the best of both worlds, especially since the regular Z-Star is just a tad too low-spin with the big dog...

Looking forward to this release since I saw Mark Crossfield do a tiny review on the Youtubes... I like where they're going with this design and hope my ZX5's enjoy hitting their new friends.

Can't wait to try this ball. Really excited to see new balls from Srixon.  I really like both the Z-Star and the XV, but play mostly the XV now.  Its a great ball for my game.  I also will try the new Z-star XV divide as well.  I am curious if the Divide will be distracting on the course or whether its helpful in putting and around the greens.

Played this ball for half the holes yesterday, and it was a strong ball. As I work on not being as steep with my irons, this ball could easily go into play. It had plenty of stopping power, but I never had over spin, never had any balloon on me. Very good ball.

Played 18 with the Diamond today.  It was 42 degrees as tee off, so I was definitely "feeling" the ball - especially with my mis-hits.  But it performed nicely throughout the round.  Good trajectory and distance off the driver.  Sadly, I struggled with my irons today... but on the few I did hit solidly - it was hitting my window, and I was getting a hop and stop with full approach shots that hit the green.  Feel around the green was what I expected... on the firm side, but I was getting plenty of spin with pitches and chips - confidence building around the green even if the "feel" is a bit firm.  Good response off the putter face.  First take... I like this ball a lot.

So, I played a full round with the Z Star Diamond, and I really enjoyed this ball. It was great off the tee and with my woods, high flight that really held its line. Then with my wedges I was able to flight them low and got really good check. I am waiting for the new Tour BX to come out and do some head to head testing, but this ball could easily be my ball this year.

I really want to check this ball out as I'm already a Z-Star player. Though it's not like I have enough balls in the closet, and more I want to test. A course near me already dropped the price on previous generation AVX & Tour B series. I guess add it to the list with Snell & Vice...what's a guy to do???? Besides play more golf of course!

So @crbishop and I played 9 after work this evening, and it was a perfect 70 degrees. It was the first time playing it in warm weather, and it was long. I was hitting it to yardages I hit in summer, and it flew very straight for me. This really may be the best ball I’ve ever played, long off the tee and I was able to get the ball to one hop and stop like I want it to. It is really hard to find a negative on this ball.

Definitely interested, the Zstar was a little too soft, and I hated the XV around the green. So I’ll add the diamond to the list of contenders:

Higher launching higher spinning with driver, about 1° and about 350rpm. slightly higher launch about the same spin on wedge /irons. Also slightly higher compression. For me, Zstar carries further on every club, a few yards, but on driver it doesn't get the roll out that the lower launching lower spinning prov1 gets so total distance is about the same.

The CSXls is significantly spinnier then the rest of that group. The diamond is right between the XLS and the others on spin. If you are looking for more driver spin the diamond /CSXls  would be great choices. I found the CSXls to be the hardest feeling of the bunch, and the highest launching but fastest ball speeds.

CSXLS harder than Left Dash? Was that the 2021 model or the 2022 model of the XLS? (significant feel difference between the model years - 2021 was a cue ball and 2022 is much more responsive. Firm, but not off-putting.)

I tried both the 2020 and 2022 CSXLS, the 2020 was harder, the 2022 still felt the hardest of the bunch to me. But really not all the different then the rest of the "x" balls. Diamond felt the softest of that group. But, that is just me.

ooooh interesting - I haven't been able to hit the Diamond yet, but I was expecting it to feel firmer than most X balls at a compression of 100, but maybe not the firmest. Personally, I am really intrigued by the high-compression, 3-piece space, so I really need to check out the Diamond!

ooooh interesting - I haven't been able to hit the Diamond yet, but I was expecting it to feel firmer than most X balls at a compression of 100, but maybe not the firmest. Personally, I am really intrigued by the high-compression, 3-piece space, so I really need to check out the Diamond!

I've got some that I won via Twitter, I am not a huge fan of higher compression BUT with some distance gains the past few years due to practice and general fitness I'm curious to see how this one works for me compared to my usual softer 3 piece in the QST.

I think is is the very soft cover they use. The CSX and the Prov left have a more audible click(ish) sound. the Diamond is the most muted, which is probably why I say it feels the softest. Its good stuff.

Bought a box of these with a GC that I had. If I like it, might stock up if they ever have a 2-for-3 sale or something

Bought a few boxes with current sale and was able to get out yesterday and play a few holes. My initial reaction was that it feels softer than the prov1x, but overall very similar. Distance with my irons seemed very similar, maybe a tad longer. One thing I noticed was that I prefer the feel of the prov1x around the greens and putting. Might just need to get familiar with the diamond though.
