Into The Thick Of It

Today. I decided enough was enough.  Went out and swung the driver in the yard, the backswing at first was excruciatingly painful…. But after about 20 swings… it wasn’t so bad.  I probably just made a large mistake, but I puréed yes puréed a 3 iron off into the wild blue.  We will see if I come out of retirement tomorrow morning, or if I need emergency surgery instead.  Had golf on the mind all day, and had to hit a ball.

 

Supposed to be a warm 47° on Friday, if I don’t end up requiring medical assistance I will hit the links.

 

How does Adam Scott not have a full Titleist deal anymore?

 

Taking a much needed semester off of school and my work schedule is very nice this month.  Perfect time to try out my new Apple watch with the Arccos app.

Best of luck tomorrow, Alan...and be careful. I hope you can get out and play and not be in pain afterward. I couldn't imagine the amount of restlessness that would come about when you're dealing with an injury. I go crazy after a weekend of rain and not being able to get out because of that.

That was me early on this year.  Not sure where or when I lost interest, but it was before I hurt my arm.  Good news is, so far my elbow feels better than it has in 2 months.

I'm happy to hear it's doing better. Nagging pain can really do a number on you.

I’ve pretty much run out of things to post about.  I’ve already covered the blades or bust, ProV1 or nothing, Shorts for pros?!, P. Reed, Tiger winning the Masters, Rickie falling off the map, BK vs BAD, cast vs forged, old school players vs new school, wedges, Henrik, BIG10 football, Tom Brady, The Open… the list literally goes on and on as you know.  I’d have to start recycling things.

You’re just on the same cycle as most OEMs now… Same story rotating every few years, just a different paint job.  

Also… I still think we really need a What Grinds Shankster’s Gears thread.

You could talk about the players popularity payout,  why Morikawa was 11th and got nothing,  the new Netflix behind the PGA tour series, rumors of Tiger retiring this year....

Or just recycle the topics,  maybe it will get some new people engaged in discussions.

Glad that didn't last long, but do hope that you are able to take it easy coming back and not have any setbacks!

I wonder if there are other stories out there which haven't been covered such as Mizuno JPX made for Brooks type story? That one really stuck with me and I thought was a awesome selling point for the club. I would also love to (not sure why I haven't made one) about clubs which have stood well past their life cycle. Off the top of my head Taylormade M2 (1st edition) which was used by so many years and years after release. The Cobra F7 3 wood has a cult like following (I know I still have mine and love it) and even irons like the Ping i210. A replacement is likely to be coming at some point, however 4 years past release it is still a "current" club in pings lineup. I'm sure there are many many others... Stensons 3 wood that would make for good threads/conversations that may not have been covered in depth.

Back into retirement I go.  I might be ready when the grass isn’t dormant in a few months.

The 3 wood was covered, and the JPX made for BK at some point… which him with a Srixon bag just does not look right.

ohhh there is (or at least before lockdown there was) a TM M2 3 wood available at the simulator at my office.... There was more than one time that almost ended up coming with me.  I hit it longer than I hit the Titleist 917 d2 driver that was in there!

Why yes as a matter of fact.  I personally used to love watching Rick’s videos, along with Mark. But as the landscape of golf testing a reviews changed, so did they.  I cant remember the last video I’ve watched from either of them.
 

In the grand scheme of things, I could go do a review on a product, not only golf clubs, but any product, and love it so much that I give it 5 stars.  Someone else goes out and buys the same thing because of my 5 star review, and they could think it was the biggest piece of junk in the world, and give it a no-star rating.  Some people like cold hard data, and some like the entertainment appeal of the YouTuber golf reviews.

Thats my take, I didn’t watch Rick’s video or see any of the responses that were given.  But everyone has a farm they want to grow, his is just different than the next, or the neighbors farm.

The elbow appears to be on the mend.  I’ve been using heat and massage. Might be in the thickets sooner than I thought.  Such a weird injury.
