Traveled to Omaha today for my Sister in Law’s funeral so, travel by air with suitcases and carryons was a real bear. SWMBO is still recovering as am I, so trying to lift everything with my left arm was difficult.  Also, I had my c-pap for my carryon and I had difficulty carrying it on my left shoulder. Right shoulder still very tender…..but we made it…Tampa to Houston, then Houston to Omaha.

Sorry to hear about your sister in law.

Shouldn't have any flight issues...balmy 50 degrees here in Omaha, unheard of for February.

And no pain or lingering effects from resuming chipping and putting on that shoulder I hope?

Not any issues with short swings.

We stay until next Tuesday, with snow coming Wednesday….LOL

Weather is cold but no issues…….saw the Black Angel, Civil War cannons, Lincoln Memorial & Lewis & Clark memorial.  View was awesome.

Home from Omaha, midnight Tuesday, knee X-rays and cortisone shots Wednesday, Spine Dr. Appt follow up with nerve block injection on Thursday (3 bulging discs from auto accident).  Been busy.

stopped by brand new PGA Tour Superstore today and tried wedge swings, partial swing okay but tried full swing…..not comfortable.  Stick to pitch and putt for awhile longer.

Sunday hit 4 dozen chips into driving range lake at Lexington Oaks GC.  Only used half swing, tried my Powerbilt AFO wedges and SCOR wedges. Then I took 3 blade putters, Ping Ketsch, Scotty Cameron Kombi and Evenroll ER6, and practiced 20 foot putts three times each putter.

Then I returned home and put the ice pack on my right shoulder. I was sore but the chipping and putting felt good.  BTW, it was 80* and Sunny.

Got my orange whippy like thingy out and did some swinging in the front yard today.  I kept it slow and only half swings.  Okay for awhile so I turned up the backswing…..Nope, not yet.

Be careful, I had rotator cuff surgery March 9th 21' I was able to get back into the gym and do light workouts August and played my first round July 27th 21'.  As of today 2/28/22 the only issue I have is finally building strength back in my shoulder. No issues with golf swing.

Keep up the good work.

Ortho doc said I could swing away......

after lunch SWMBO perused Home Goods so I perused Golf Galaxy.  While there I grabbed a used Cobra driver and the set up a bay for me to swing in....after half dozen hits I got to 170 yards with 70 mph swing.  I was not pushing it just trying to swing easy.  Not bad.

On similar subject I’m looking at switching Orthopedic Doc for my knee replacement.  Current Doc has switched to different hospital in next county over for surgery and rehab. This makes it difficult for SWMBO to chauffeur me around.  Her driving skills are deteriorating.  I was in touch with another Orthopedic group  who are much closer and very highly rated and using local hospital. Trying to get a new, shiny knee in May/June when Flock is gone.

My ortho is in Tampa so we have to drive 30 minutes every time we see him.  On way home we pass a Chicken Salad Chik restaurant so we stop for lunch.....they have 15 different chicken salads!

Sounds like a great reason to go there👍.

New Doc would be 20 min and offices are in the hospital complex.

  • 3 weeks later...

Today I played in the Wed night 9 hole game. I started out with a terrific drive(PXG0211) and bogeying the first hole after missing a 2 foot putt on a lipper.  Parred the Par 5 #2, again a missed putt for birdie..Ugh!  The next 5 holes were bogeys , several with missed putts on the left side.  I doubled the Par 3 #8 with a drive in the water.  Finally, a terrific drive on #9 then overshot the 50 yard chip shot over a bunker.  The ball stopped about 12 feet from the hole, a foot off the green.  Thought about chipping, then decided to putt.  Nailed it! Birdie on the last hole!  Overall, my drives were great, down the middle.  Irons were okay, right distance but off center.  Putts were off on the left all day.  Score: 44

got home at dark and iced my shoulder. Feels okay.  Next round , prob Saturday….18 holes.

The V A sent me a wrap around ice pack for my shoulder….works great.

Yup, they work great.  I got one probably similar from Orthopedic Doc when they rebuilt my shoulder & rotator cuff.

Reunited with my Saturday Group……..had 43 players yesterday.  I was shooting for 17 points, made 15 points with a 94. Had one birdie, which held in skins game for $43!  Drives started out straight but as the day went on, I got a little tired and my drives were pulling left.  After about 14 holes my arm started hurting a bit so I totally backed off everything and double bogied last three holes.  Overall, I felt pretty good. The pain I registered was in my shoulder blade.  Today I feel fine.

The Spring Blitz arrived and I finally got to play and enjoy it….Day 1 shot 44/46: 90 plus 1 on my points and 8th place.  Day 2 shot 42/42: 84 with plus 7 points(shooting for only 17 points).  Placed 3rd out of 37, behind a tie for First place.  Sunday definitely felt great as my driver was staying in the fairway and my putter was draining from 8 - 15 feet.  Overall my shoulder felt pretty good, a little sore but okay.

Played Saturday & Sunday.  Saturday played The Claw, USF’s golf course.  I love the layout but course conditions just a step above a cow pasture……shot 97.  Sunday played Plantation Palms, my home club, shot 91.

shoulder was noticeably weak and sore.  Had a few issues with my swing, even though I was swinging easy.  Issue when I reach back then pull through.  Will be concentrating on that weakness the next four weeks.
