Assuming you have a 58-60° wedge already I would say the UW would be used more frequently but I don't know your game.

🧐 Sorry for possible confusion. I mean a Callaway UW vs traditional 7 wood (sub70)

Just changed my woods and hybrids this week. Dropped my Ping G410 5W and 4-5-6H for G425 5W, 7W & 9W. I hit my G425 driver 230 yds for comparisons, and just couldn't get my 4H in the air. My 5H was OK and I never used the 6H, as I prefer my i500 6 iron. Off the tee I hit my 4H 185 yds, and off the ground I'm hitting the 7W 185 yds! The 9 is going 175 yds, with the 5W at 200 yds. Plus the height and soft landings are great. Glad I made the changes.

I've been using playing an older Cleveland Launcher 7-wood for years now and absolutely love it but I just bought a new Tour Edge C721 7-wood and really like this one too. The Cleveland Launcher has a more compact head which I prefer but the idea of this whole thing is I can hit about 200 yards and it's flight is high and lands soft. And, I can maneuver the flight from straight to a little draw to a slight fade. Very useful club and highly recommend you give it a try.

Hi HAC!  I’m a lefty, as well!  I understand your pain!  I, too, have been struggling with my 3h.  This year I pulled it out of my bag and added a 7w.  I am plying a Callaway Rogue ST Max and I am loving it. It is about 5-10 yards longer than my old 3h, but I am ok with that.  Previously, I had about a 30 yard gap from my 3h to my 5w.  It has improved my gapping as well.  Much easier to hit consistently.  I’m still gaming a 4h.

I just bought a Callaway divine 9 on eBay for $20 as an experiment to find a reliable 165-175 club that falls from the sky. I’m just not reliable with the 5 iron often enough

Yup, I dropped 5 iron 2years ago and now thinking dropping the 6 iron on my next set.
I better not get any older or I’ll only have hybrids 😱

Because I am a tinkerer, I have been experimenting with my 3 wood loft at 16° and my 5 wood loft at 19°.  Maybe similar to playing a 4 wood and a 6 wood (if there is such a club????).  So far, I am liking the the higher lofts in my fairway woods.

I just received a 21° Maltby HyWay utility wood that I plan to bag in place of my 7 wood AND 3 hybrid. Assuming it works for me as well as my Maltby 4 wood I think it can cover the gap between my 4 wood and 4 hybrid as well as the other two.

Mentioned it in my WITB, however put the 7 wood back in the bag. Have it lofted to 21 and weight in the front to help give it a more penetrating flight. It was good and played as it should. I still have some struggles with it, but maybe I will finally just get use to this club and it will be a mainstay in my bag.

What was everyones deciding factor on going to a 7 wood vs other options. For me it was just a shot in the dark to try and find something for this end of the bag and I loved my F7 3 wood so thought what the heck why not try.

I do enjoy it overall. However would love to hear the reasons many of you decided to go with 7 wood vs other options in this part of the bag!

About 8 years ago I went to Golf Shop for new grips.  There was bins of used clubs and one bin for LH.  There was a Tour Edge 7w in there that looked lonely and lost for $29.95 it went home with me.  It’s been in and out of the bag since, it’s in right now.
Recently picked up a G425 5w with loft set to max so almost a 7w.  It’s earmarked as a successor to the Tour Edge.

Do it, I liked my Hybrid, however, my dad bought me a Callaway Big Bertha, Circa 2005 7 wood from Cally Used Clubs for my birthday, I was thinking I would sell it because I already had that yardage in my bag with the Hybrid, until I hit it. Better pop, better feel, more confidence.....Sold the Hybrid.....

I tried the 7 wood route and just couldn,t get comfortable yet (maybe in few years) w whipping out a wood from 215-220) I still like to see an iron or smaller head (hyrbrid) in my hand. Maybe it's a psychological thing for now.!!

Bought the Bombtech 7 wood last spring, figured what the heck, for $87 if I didn't like it it could lean against the wall in the garage with some other "buddies!" Been in the bag ever since. 175-185 0ff the deck, great for position on par 5's and short par 4's off the tee!

Try the PXG Gen 4 XF 7 wood (prior model being discontinued and on sale). I put one into play about 15 months ago and love it. An alternative would be the PXG 0211. My setup is driver, 7 wood, 26* hybrid into irons and wedges. I am a 70+ left-hander.

I have an old Upswing 7 wood 21 degrees that I used to play with all the time... back when I had over 100 mph swing speed.  I could hit a nice towering 200 - 225 yard shot from any where including bunkers.  Unfortunately, I don't use it much anymore but working on building my swing speed back up so who knows.  Many fond memories of my seven wood.

Put one in the bag last year, took some tweaking to get the settings right, out of the box I hit massive hooks.  currently using the set up of High and Fade bias, TSI 21 degree.  Probably my favorite club, replaced a 19 degree hybrid

Interesting topic. I have never considered a 7 wood, but I have not been hitting my 5 or 6 iron overly well. I seem to be more accurate with my 7 iron and hit it just as far as my 5 iron. May a 7 wood is something I should consider?

I've been playing a 7 wood for 30 years. Actually the same club - an Orlimar Tri-metal 21• with a Aldila R shaft. I can hit it 170-185 and it is my go to under pressure. Higher ball flight than a hybrid. Just ordered a Cobra LDx 7 W to try. Buy something pre owned or on close out to try out.

Take it back and let it go
