cnosil
I was excited when I saw that streaming coverage of tour events would be on ESPN+. Watched the first couple of weeks and figure they were just getting started and didn’t have all their coverage running. Now a few weeks into the season they have the main feed, hole coverage, and group coverage. The video coverage seems fine, but the announcers are IMO terrible. I feel like I am listening in on a conversation between the two on air announcers. The information they present is more like random facts and jokes. I guess it is supposed to be casual; which it is, but it really doesn’t hold my attention. anyone else watching? As a guy prepares to hit, they're often showing his rank in this or that statistical category relevant to the shot he's about to hit. It's a little thing, but for me it adds to the broadcast. GolfSpy MPR
For my part, I most often have the coverage on when I'm in my office, and I'm also most often doing something else, so the commentary is either very low (so I can notice if something exciting happens) or muted altogether. CarlH
I tend to watch it on my computer and will often be browsing around in another window while listening to the chatter....and you're right about the quality of the audio portion of the show --- a much more casual conversation than announcing. Micah T
I happened to tune in today as Sam Ryder addressed the ball on 16…. Pure magic. The comments about how over-served the crowd was while pelting the green with beer bottles and cups after witnessing the 1st ace there in 7 years? Also gold. You would think that they would just offer tap beer at an event that big. All those beer cans thrown on the green could have hurt someone. Do it like the Masters. All in plastic collectable cups. Ok I'll admit it was cool to see but! CanadaMike
I have actually really enjoyed the coverage on ESPN+, I feel the commentary is more casual which I like. This is the first year I subscribed to it and I enjoy being able to follow a group from the begging to the end of the round. For me it puts into perspective how challenging the course can be and how a player has to battle through bad shots throughout the day, the main feed often doesn't show the bad shots. cnosil 1 Quote Avid recreational golfer with a 9 handicap, looking to make major equipment upgrades this year Cobra Speed Pro X 10.5° with Aldila VS Proto 65g shaft Cobra S2 3-Wood 15° with Fujikura Regular flex 65g shaft Founders Club Hybrids (3 & 4) and Irons (5-PW) with Regular shaft 50° and 56° CG14 with Zip Groves and 8° & 11° bounce with Wedge Flex shaft 60° REG.588 Tour Action with Wedge Flex shaft TaylorMade Ghost TM 110 Putter 34" Undecided on what Golf Ball to use this year
mikeanthony
ESPN+‘s coverage this year is light years better than the subscription coverage provided by NBC last year … been very pleased with it thus far. Golfspy_CG2
I agree 100% it’s coverage of the masters was fantastic.
