Tacky Grip Recommendation

Years ago I used Dri-Tac on my irons and wedges and loved the soft feel/tackiness, but didn’t love the durability. I switched to MCCs when I was playing

more often and I’m thinking about switching back to something softer/tackier. I only play 15-20 rounds per year as the toddler takes up a lot of my free time but am looking for recommendations. I’m not a fan of wraps and some options I’m looking at are

Winn DriTac

Lamkin Sonar

Golf Pride CP2 Pro

Superstroke Cross Comfort

Superstroke Traxion Tour

Golf Pride CP2 Pro should give you what you are looking for. I played the Winn DriTac and durability was poor. I switched to the CP2 Pro and love them.

I have Iomic sticky 2.3.  They are the softest and tackiest grips I’ve ever payed.  I’ve only had them for a part of a season and they’ve held up fine so far.  They do feel a little smaller in my hands.

This would be my vote. I play the Iomics sticky evolution 1.8 and won’t change until they quit making them.  They are super tacky become like new with a wet towel wipe down.

I've been using the Iomic X-Evolution for maybe 10 years now, I prefer that texture.  I agree, Iomic will be my grip for a long long time.

I recently put Iomic Sticky 2.3 on my driver and hybrids and agree with the above posters wipe them down and they are immediately tacky again.

I was also an Iomic guy for years, but I switched to Pure grips this year and I do prefer them.

I have the Sonars now and don't find them tacky or comfortable. I'm interested in the SuperStroke club grip offerings, but I don't know anyone who plays them and I'd like to find out about their durability. DriTacs are fantastic, but like you said they get eaten up fast.

Not exactly answering the question that was asked, but I find that many, many players are playing standard grips, but would be much better off with larger. The reason I'm saying that here is that larger grips are easier to keep control of without squeezing them to death. For a lot of people who have trouble with grip slippage, the problem isn't that the grips are too slippery, it's that they are too small for their hands.

That’s a great point. I should have noted that I play midsize to help with this. The switch from MCCs is more about feel than quality of grip if that makes sense.

I dont play with a glove so maybe that's why my experience differs, but I dont think the Iomic Sticky's are tacky at all.  They are a bit slimy.  The Iomic X-grip is much better.  No1 grips are also tackier than the Sticky.  If you really want tacky, go with Grip Master Leather grips.  It's like having resin on the grips.

I’ve tried the first three on your list. Yep, DriTac 2.0 wear out just as quickly as the 1.0. CP2 Pro are ok when dry, but get even just a DROP of sweat or rain on them and they get slick! Lamkin Sonar are really good, and would recommend them out of those you listed. Lamkin Hybrid Calibrate are really good too and I’ve used them here in Louisiana since the middle of summer. Too bad the I-Line aren’t made by Lamkin anymore as those were my favorite for tackiness. As is mentioned, the leather grips I’ve held are the absolute tackiest, but you’ll pay quite a bit initially.

Used to be Pure Pro fan, but found them to be not good with any sort of moisture in play.  I've switched to leather, currently using GripMaster Roo and Kidd grips on two of my sets, with a couple of their Perforated model here and there.

If you want tacky, there's nothing more so than leather.

Late to this one, but I will corroborate Tom the Golf Nut.  I also used Winn Dri-Tac.  They were tacky for about half a year (20 rounds), and then smoothed out terribly.  I also switched to Golf Pride CP2, Not sure if I have the Pro or not, but I use Mid size.  Wipe them off with water every 3-4 rounds depending on how much your hands sweat, and they are good as new.

FWIW the GripMaster leather grips are the tackiest by far.  It's like pine tar is infused into them; nothing else is close.  I like Pure and Iomic, but never found them to be that soft or tacky.  I have been using CP2 Pros for a while now and they are the softest rubber grip I have tried and they are relatively tacky when kept clean.  Recently tried some Sonar and they are definitely tackier than the CP2 Pro while still being relatively soft for a rubber grip.

I used Winn for years, but durability was always an issue. Several years ago switched to Super Stroke Cross Comforts, fantastic feel, but the durability issue popped up again. Last year switched to the Lamkin Sink Fit Sonar+. The feel is great and durability doesn't seem to be an issue. After one season the grips look and feel perfect.
