When I started playing golf in 98, I bought a pair of FJ DryJoy athletics. Nice shoe, reasonably priced, lasted about 5-6 years, and my feet stared getting wet from dew on fairways, seams started to give. Bought the FJ Contours. That shoe was like putting on a pair of slippers the first time, but gave great support. Wore them until 2 seasons ago, when the insert for one of the cleats let loose when trying to change the cleats. Well, not good. Ended up Super Glueing the insert, along with cleat in that shoe. Wore them for a couple of rounds, bought a new pair of FJ Originals. Wanted another pair of Contours, but they were discontinued. So, the Original is a dress type shoe, as I don't like the athletic type shoes they now have, with the mesh tops and all. Want my feet to be dry on wet fairways, and my feet to stay clean. That mesh lets in dust, right through my socks, not to mention getting wet. Very comfortable shoe. No real break-in to mention. Going to buy another pair soon, before they discontinue this model. I should have shoes enough well into retirement...

I prefer to wear fj classics, but if I’m walking 18 I wear the fj premier shoe. I also have an older pair of dryjoys for when it’s really bad weather out and I know my shoes are getting soaked.

The premiers are as stable of a shoe as you can get from any of the big shoes brands, and they are definitely lighter than the old style classics. I also like the dryjoy shoe if they still make them. Both solid choices if you are looking for a more traditional style shoe vs the athletic sneaker style.

I’ve tried everything over Thea years and for a long time the spineless Ecco’s were my favorite.

but I’ve been hooked on Decathalon/Inesis Waterproof Grip. Actually have three pairs.

I walk early in the morning so has to be waterproof. I’m an over pronation in my step so I need real stability. And these things are velcroed to the turf at a price that can’t be beat.

Great grip - I played with them the other day. Don't know how waterproof they are - at least initially I'll play with them in  late morning and  afternoon games.

Adidas have been the best for me over the years.  I like the boost technology, makes for a very comfortable walk for 18 holes.  Have been wearing spiked and spikeless Tour 360's for the last few years.  Good shoes as long as they have leather in the heel.

Ordered a pair of this seasons CodeChaos in all black but had to return, first time I have found an Adidas shoe too tight for me to wear.  Still wanted an extra spikeless shoe and picked up a pair of Rebelcross.  Using them for indoor practice, so far very happy with them.

Picked up a pair of Duca Del Cosmo and will see how I like them this season.  Tried Ecco spikeless and Ok for comfort but I rarely wear them.  Have a pair of Footjoy Icon hardly worn as I found them a bit too tight.

My experiment using New Balance trail running shoes while golfing didn't work out like I had hoped. I have wide feet and have trouble finding wide golf shoes that fit good, even the wide Footjoys seem too narrow in the toe box. I always walk when playing my home course and the NB TR shoes were very comfortable to walk in, and gave good traction while swinging, but they just weren't built for the stresses that are placed on a shoe when golfing. The outside side seams on the left shoe (right handed golfer) where it meets the sole started ripping after a couple months.

Up to this point I've worn only FJ shoes. I never needed to even try them on beforehand they always fit perfectly.  The best FJ shoe in my opinion is the XP superlite, they're very comfy, waterproof and only $100 US. I also have a pair of FJ Pro SL which I won just over a year ago - they're 2X as much as the superlite, not as comfy and they squeak ( although I got use to the noise). My wife  thought I needed to jazz up my golf wardrobe and saw the CodeChaos pictured in my previous post. They fit really well - but I could see why someone with a wider foot would have a problem.

I had the same experience with two pair of Adidas Ultraboost. Outstanding to walk in. Good grip and stability considering it's a running shoe. But I destroyed two pair in 6-month. The outside of the left shoe and inside of the right shoe were completely detached in 3-months. At $180 a pair, I can't afford to do that again.

A good friend has strongly recommended Ecco Biom C4 and H4. I think I will try a pair of those this spring. I have a couple old pair of golf shoes I can get through the winter with.

Exactly why buying golf specific shoes is superior to shoes built for walking/running.

FJ does have X Wide shoes, as well as wide.  Check out their website, as it's difficult to find them elsewhere, generally.  I've been very comfortable with the Hyperflex shoes.  I assume the Flex are similar.  The mesh seems to have a bit more give and still remain waterproof.
