lethall12 3
What are thoughts on these Vice Pro Plus balls? I saw that they rated very well against the Titleist Pro V1. Normally play the Pro V1, but I found a Vice Pro Plus on the course and played a couple of holes with it and I like it. I am about to make 2022 ball purchase and load up for the year and 5 -12 packs for $144 plus shipping/tax What is long term wear and tear on them, do they tear up? 3 Quote Mizuno ST200G 8.0 Cobra King F9 3W 13.5 Titleist U500 2 Iron Cleveland CBX Launcher 4-PW (re-shafted to True Temper Dynamic Gold X7) Mizuno T-20 50 degree Cleveland RTX-3 56 Titleist Vokey 58/8 Tommy Armour Impact #2 Wide
fixyurdivot 17,368
Hi and welcome to the forum! Here is some recent testing and data conducted by the site that might be helpful if you know which swing speed group you fit into. There is nothing ground breaking about Vice balls. They aren't trying new dimple patterns, cover materials or creating new versions of urethane. But, they do use a proven dimple pattern from a top tier facility and provide a really good ball for a decent discount over the non DTC brands. I find the covers to scuff easier then most brands big, very similar to Callaway on durability. So behind Titleist, TM, and Srixon on that front. Better then Cut, worse then maxfli and Snell on the DTC side. I haven't played the pro plus much, but I really do love the regular pro. A little more spin and a little higher launch then a pro v on a driver, a little higher launch and a little lower spin on irons. If you can play a whole year on 5 dozen balls.... I wouldn't let price sway your choice to much. Between these and pro v you are about $100, that isn't throw away money, but it's a round of two of golf most places, or 4 holes worth at Pebble Beach... And $100 on most of our golf budgets isn't going to make much difference. Now, if you are going through 20 dozen a year... I think that price becomes much more attractive. All that said, Vice Pro is still one of my 3 favorite golf balls. 4 Quote WITB: Driver: SIM2 Max 12° - Accra TZ6 M4 FW Wood: Gen5 0311 7w Fujikura Motore X F3 Utility: King Forged 20.5° Utility - Catalyst X Irons: D7 Forged GW-5i - Recoils Wedges: JB 52° , 286 56° Putter: MySpider X Cart: Onewheel XR+ Ball: Z-Star Diamond
GregGarner 1,285
In the realm of 4-piece balls, I think these are among the best value. A 5-index I play with regularly loads up on these every time there's a sale, even though their standard bulk price is already among the lowest on a per-ball basis. They're a little softer than the Z-Star XV, which was my gamer for a while, but firmer than a standard ProV1. (More comparable to the V1x) - At least anecdotally, their on-course performance is close enough that I don't really think you'll notice a difference from the V1x. lethall12 3
Great insight from you all on these golf balls. It is hard to switch from the Pro V1. I have tried multiple times but always gravitate back to Pro V1's. Tried Taylor Made TP5 and TP5X which I feel are too spiny and launch to high for me, Srixon Z-Star was good around the green and putting, but did not like them off the tee, the Bridgestone Tour B XS was the closest to the Pro V1's. But all of these are all about the same price 45-50+ for a dozen, so I was looking for options. Kanoito 3,084
I've been playing them exclusively for the past 3-4 years? They are just that much cheaper without compromising on performance... and I just lose balls like an idiot A lot of people talk about durability and scuffing in their older iterations, but I honestly never had any issues with that. Maybe I just lost the balls before I damaged them? RSS 19
I just paid $40 to Ping https://ballfitting.com/ to identify which is best ball to play. One of the questions was around willingness to pay premium for balls. I checked okay to pay for best recommended ball. After plugging in my numbers which are very average, the ball they selected was the Pro Plus. Followed by Chrome Soft X and Z Star. I just played a round with them the other day and liked them a lot. I also lost 3 balls so the lower price was helpful. I was playing TP5 X prior.
ChuckZ 223
I am sticking with my Prov1s. Taylormade's plant in Korea is now only making balls for Taylormade and Snell. A lot of brands that were made there is the past are going to loose a quality manufacturer. Kirklands first run of balls were made there when they had good balls. Mr Snell use to work for Taylormade and Titleist. Beakbryce 60
I have been playing found balls for the last couple of years and the Vice Pro Plus is definitely right there after Pro V1. I have noticed, at least on my course, they "tumble" occasionally off the irons so can sometimes get a flaky long hit, well past normal. WiTerp50 29
For this year, might be best to stock up. I’ve always stocked up on Pro V’s with the 4-4-3 deal. That’s $150 for 4 dozen. Yellow became hard to find late last year. There are far more reports that that deal won’t happen this year due to demand and inventory. With Foremost now partnered with TM, all DTC balls but Snell have to find a new vendor. I wouldn’t bet that Snell won’t have inventory issues. I’d consider the other major brands, but there is no worthwhile savings to bother. It was tempting to look at the Maxfli Tour box of 4 dozen for $100 at Christmas. The 2021 version was well rated in the MSG reviews.
Steve-O-hio 14
I can't speak much to the Pro Plus, but I started playing the Vice Pro after the ball test. Best ball I have played and at a steal of a price. I feel like they've held up over a few rounds, haven't noticed any wear and tear issues. Look at the data on the ball test and see if it fits your game for your swing speed. I'm not forking out $50 a dozen for Pro V's just to lose them in the woods far off to the right. Vice fits my budget and you can get pretty good deals when you buy in bulk directly from Vice. You can also pick them up at Walmart or Target for $35 a box. We'll see if any of TaylorMade's big moves with purchasing plants means trouble or quality issues for the smaller DTC brands.

I second this, I have a lot easier time watching a vice sail into the trees than a Titleist. Also I know I am probably an outlier but I love the neon red Vice balls, they suit my eye well and I have an easier time picking them out at a distance, of course color recognition is going to vary by person. barryschwartz56 9
I've played the Vice Pro Plus as an alternative to the ProV1x and found them to be comparable. I can't say I noticed any durability issues as some have mentioned. I think all the "tour" balls (ProV, TP5, Chromesoft, etc) are similar in performance, and it just is a personal decision based on your game and playing characteristics. If you played that ball and it worked for you, you'll save a few bucks and it won't affect your game.
