DO NOT APPLY WITHIN THIS THREAD FOR TESTING

Want to make your own review on a product and follow our testing template? This is a generic template to follow, however uses the same star rating system that any of the "official reviews" will have for this season and moving forward. (half stars are okay as well). The generic template gives you the opportunity to be a little more creative while following the same general template we will use for any and all official tests.
Here it is: Member Review Testing Template

Please please use the search function before creating a new thread as many of these products/reviews can be posted into existing threads. We can add in a front end message like this one to the top of the thread linking your review to make it more visible on request as well. This helps us keep the forum cleaner and without too many repeating threads.

Hybrid testing is my guess as well.  Id be interested in a hybrid with adjustable loft and lie angles.  I think a lot of hybrids are too upright for me and that is why i have to try a few before finding one that doesnt want to go left all the time.

Yes, was a TXG review yesterday.  Didn’t watch it after I read the comments about it being so expensive.  Went to the website and it was $169; so I stopped there. 😂

I'm wondering if one of our resident tinkerers will make a DIY version. I was shocked at how much it cost after watching the same TXG video.

I just watched the video and I think you could accomplish the same thing cheaper with the total golf trainer wrist and a smart ball.   If you wanted to go DIY, a bent metal bar with a makeshift wrist strap and a dollar store ball.

I have "Applied" to test many of the offerings but as yet not been lucky enough to do so.  My thoughts.  As important as it is I think some of the market is missing some dollars by not addressing the "Seniors" market.  We too have some disposable income and although I still have a decent swing speed, some of my friends do not.  I see many tests that display irons as "Tour" (blades) "Players" (combination) and "Game improvement" (cavity back or hollow) but little to no discussion of shafts I have been fitted with MT300Black steel and they've improved my accuracy but now am questioning how much distance I've sacrificed for that accuracy. Guessing about 10 yards. Lets face it.  It's become way more than STIFF, REG. and GRANNY.

Anything you guys have to say?

Been golfing 63 years.  Consider myself better than average. Play 54 - 72 holes a week in season.

I agree with the "seniors" market and to expand on that, senior influencers, for the exact reasons you stated, we have more time and I have more disposable income now than when I was working and raising a family.

1. Profile photo - no photo no selection its that simple - Thanks for having a profile photo!  Step 1 complete!
2. Get involved - we want to see that you going to do a good review for our community so having some posting history even if brief is important! To date 5 of your 14 posts since you joined in August of 2019 have been for tests.  The rest have all been good posts, particularly the one you started about your fitting back in 2019.  This has been your first post in July of last year.  To be perfectly blunt.. that is not enough activity to earn the opportunity to test.  I can also see that today is the first day you've been on the site since September.  We have many users who don't post as frequently but are clearly on the site and reading what others have to say, but a key part of being selected to review is showing that you are willing to write about the equipment and share your experiences with the other forum members.  The number one worst thing that can happen for us it to select a tester who does not follow through.  It looks bad on us and can prevent future opportunities from that OEM.
3. Complete your profile: Even if it is 75% complete that is considered completed (the other 25% is for additional questions which you can answer by going into profile settings) however having a profile completed to the 75% shows interest in the forum. Thanks for completing this!  It is super helpful for us to know what kind of golfer you are as sometimes OEMs ask us to find a certain type of golfer, and we also like to try to get different skill levels and speeds into each test when we can.
4. Follow the forum instructions! (ie please do not apply here ... if anything it will hurt chances)
5. Finally ask questions, start a thread of your own, introduce yourself or any of that!

Regarding your comments on types of equipment we test:  We are currently testing a lightweight steel shaft in the Nippon NS Pro 850 GH neo.  I encourage you to follow along with that one and see if it fits your game.  We've had a few delays getting going but it will be ramping up soon.  In the few seasons we have also tested The T-series irons (which includes players and game improvement profiles), a Callaway Driver review from a 95MPH member, Cobra Connect participants of various swing speed/skill levels with some choosing more forgiving models,  Another few lightweight Shaft tests in the NS Pro Regio and Zelos shafts, TSi driver tests with various swing speeds, Wilson D7 irons.  I could go on but I don't think I really have to.  We quite often have tests where multiple swing speeds and skill levels are represented.  To suggest that we do otherwise is patently false.

What in particular were you thinking of that is "Seniors" market specific that we are missing?  It difficult to lock things down as Seniors specific in my mind as I know some of the 'old' guys on here that put a beating on the ball and some of the 'young' ones that would not keep up with them.  For what it's worth we've even tested bags/carts that you could say maybe fit the "retired" lifestyle more than a young player.

I hope you don't take this as me being argumentative with you.  I wanted to respond to you in as clear a way possible that I think we do an excellent job with our testing and tester selection to have as wide and varied player types represented across the board.  I hope that you engage in the forums and find what you are looking for here, and perhaps after showing some real engagement with the forum you too will be selected for a test!

Listen to the man , do what you need to do and you may get lucky.

Rick

... I would venture a guess that seniors are more all over the map than the under 50 crowd mostly because they play more and even start a work out regiment that improves their strength and play. Personally I really don't like it when anyone starts a post with "I am a senior so I need ..." and then insinuates every senior needs more speed, more loft and more forgiveness. I certainly understand some do, but as you said many do not. I'll be 70 yrs old in a couple weeks and I hit my 7 iron 165 while my younger playing pards use anything from a 6 iron to a 4 hybrid. But give me 10 seniors 60-70 and I think they just may have more variance than 10 "kids" in their 20-30's.

I agree.  I’ll be 70 later this year (so for the entire year I can still say ‘I was 69 this year’), and I need more of the right kind of distance.  6-10 yards more carry with my 7i good spin. I thought about some kind of speed training but then thought that probably leads to some unspecified injury.  So the last 2 months, I’ve focused on flexibility, core strength and cardio.  Definitely in better shape, and maybe a few yards longer with a better core.

a reply to Golfspy_BOS, in my competitive world "senior" competition starts at age 55 so companies could target 55-65, 65-75, 75-85 year olds or whatever they want, no different that companies targeting scratch to 7, 8-12, 13-20 whatever, no difference in my opinion, the difference is we have more time, time seems to be the buzz word at this time, "no one has 5 hours to play golf then 2 hours to finish your round in the clubhouse" I get it, raising a family I might have played 20 times a year, now I play 20 times a month. So market specific for seniors, treat us as educated, spend more time on the "engine" of the clubs (the shaft) dont' make our choices too complicated, ie "if you swing at this speed this is the weight of shaft you need, if you hit the ball "antler high" this is the kick point you need, if you "launch" it this is the flex point you need etc. etc. If you open and close your putter this style will work best for you, if you go straight through and straight back, this is the style that you need, stuff like that"

Electric push carts are a must, they allow us to walk and enjoy our round with less stress... pound us with information on those, trips, we all have a bucket list, pound us with that... that's all I can think about right now, i need another cup of coffee... hope this helps....
