2022 How to Become a MGS Forum Tester!

Recommended Posts

I am a 83 year old male with a 8.6 USGA handicap. I presently tested Red Hot Laser link, Garmin Approoach S62 and Bushnell V4 jolt. All are good products but have some short comings. Would like to see if the range finder matches any or these products.

I know i have a big notice at the top but it should be repeated.

Do not apply within, this is for questions, info and transparency everyone who is a potential tester.

Applying within here will hurt your chances as it shows that the original post wasnt read.

We clearly lay out how it works and I hope anyone who comes to this thread reads the first post to aid their chances of being chosen as well as enjoying the forum.

Good to know about participation. I enjoy reading the content and share with my playing groups but was not aware I could help myself in the quest to become a tester for the few items I apply for. Thanks for the info!

I’m sorry I am a bit new here, I have completed my profile. I’m looking to apply for the current test but I can not seem to actually find a signup button or option. Also I’d like to do an unofficial review on some products I own to add some depth to my profile. Can you PM me the templates as described in this posting? All help is greatly appreciated, thanks

There is no current test available for signup. Shot Scope was our most recent, but the signup closed on Friday. Sorry.

There is a review template at the very top of this page linked for all to see and use.

Welcome!! Appreciate you asking the questions and happy to provide the answer I can.

Oh okay, when on the page it says “test signup closes Thursday” without a date so I assumed next week as I’m new here. Thanks for the help

I am beginning to believe your entire web site is a scam and a sham! You're merely a schill for the manufacturers to sell more of there golf equipment.  It's impossible to become a tester for any of your offerings and you completely ignore the senior golf playing population, which probably plays more golf per year than any other demographic.  I must admit, I am totally and thoroughly disappointed with your website, your design, and especially how you pretend to pose as a legitimate source of valid information.  Let's see your response to this negative review of your web site.

... The MGS website and this MGS forum are basically two completely separate entities. And as a young 69 yr old, this forum is filled with golfers of all ages but certainly plenty of seniors and "completely ignore the senior golf playing population" could not be further from the truth. Plenty of seniors, including myself, have done testing with no interference from the OEM that in every case I have seen want honest reviews from real golfers so sham and scam is 100% baseless.

While Sam said it very well, I’ll be more blunt.

Did you read the first post of this thread?  I’m betting the answer is No and here is why

9 posts a year and No profile picture!!!

Complete your profile with a picture and get engaged and you have a very high chance of getting chosen to test but keep doing what your doing and you are gonna be very upset and disappointed.  The mods are very open about how testers are selected and had you took the time to read the first post you would know that.

I can easily name 1/2 dozen Senior Testers.

Fair to have your opinion. However couldn't be further from the truth. Unfortunately if you haven't taken the time to read the thread or look at the several testimonials from the years and years of testers I am really at a loss as to what to tell you or say.

In the end the forum is a great place and getting involved can provide any member with so much information and value to those who choose to read it get engaged. If that's not you then okay, however given the wealth of information in this thread on how testers are chosen all your answers are there. Hopefully you are able to have a more positive view on the forum, but if your post is truly how you feel it will be awfully difficult to change your mind.

I can respond to this and understand the skepticism from a member who joined a year before me yet has only 37 posts (with a 27% response rate that will assuredly change with this inflammatory post!) but I wonder where the outraged offense really comes from.  MGS forums are "our" domain and yes we are connected through the MGS HQ site that created this organization for independent testing and analysis (to validate or reject OEM claims and advertisements).  My use of "our" means people like me, ordinary people who are to a greater or lesser degree obsessed with golf.  People like me who otherwise have no real connection to MyGolfSpy.com or any part of the golf industry.  Actually reading the forums will uncover some posts of "our" concern that HQ doesn't involve themselves with "our" forums to any degree.

So many wrong statements: (1) I have been selected now for 3 tests so it is not impossible to become a tester and since forum writing helps determine what someone is likely to do as a review writer it is better to get involved with us ordinary golfers.  (2) I am part of the senior golf playing population now that I pay the senior rate for a season pass and I do play more golf than in younger years so that one part is true.  (3) In my experience they do NOT ignore golfers like me.  (4)  If you are "totally and thoroughly disappointed with your website, your design, and especially how you pretend to pose as a legitimate source of valid information" then why keep your member account?

Either we build our community or we break it down, there is no such thing as maintaining - so what is your intention?
