It's been mentioned a few times, but I would encourage anyone looking to become a tester to get active on the forum. It's important for those of us who read the testing threads to know what you play, how you play, where you get your rounds in, and it's just nice to get to know you better.

Me, I'm a high handicap hacker and there are some testers who are single digit players and their games and equipment might not translate to mine, even though the product tested might. We like to be able to follow the testers who did play like us. Although I do love reading everyone's thoughts.

Plus, if you're active you might become a fixture here on the site and find that the camaraderie, not the tests, is what it's all about.

So many come for the testing, but stay for this awesome community. 

From the community map to find other spies, to the MGS Virtual Tour, to bigger regional outtings, fantasy sports and much much more. Then there is all the equipment and just pure golfing knowledge. 

It's a fun place to be and take part in!

I just haven't made this forum a "habit" yet.  I really enjoy the banter and the only other person in my family that really likes golf is my 8 year old son.  I get a little starved for conversation.

There is lots of excitement building around the upcoming testing season. The mod team is hard at work planning, procuring, emailing and developing all sorts of things on the back end to provide MGS with great testing opportunities. 

A big thanks goes out to the whole mod team for the efforts they put in and we hope that this year will be one of the best years to come!

I will say that I have both enjoyed and hated every test that I’ve participated in.

The hated part, if anyone is wondering, was waiting on equipment, one particular fellow tester (who is no longer a part of the community) in a group that couldn’t or wouldn’t follow a single part of our given rubric, my personal struggles with posting media properly and innate fear that the reviews I offered wouldn’t measure up to those of my fellow testers. 
 

Tests can be a bit stressful because we owe something to the OEM, mods and community whenever we apply and are accepted. Understanding that they are also a good deal of fun.

  I would like to be considered for the position of Tester.  There are no limits to what things I would test.  I have experience in golf retail and like to follow all the trends in golf.  Experience with footwear as well.

100% agree with this, although I'm less concerned with my mastery of the media and posting visually "cool" reviews, although that helps, and more concerned with justifying the opportunity to test.  Getting tabbed to be a tester makes you want to justify the selection, to the mods and the other spies.

This depends on the test and what the OEM has indicated to us. Same goes for LH and RH availability. 

We do our best to get as many international tests as possible, but for some it US or NA only.

... Other than opening night, I was never overly excited or experienced that "good nervousness" when I performed on stage. But when friends were in the audience I certainly felt a heightened awareness. Having written reviews for many years it is much the same, so writing a review for MGS carries a much heavier expectation than just posting a review in general on my web page. I have to consider those that may be looking to purchase because it is in their possible purchase category as well as those that may want to try something a little above their pay grade. And of course those that will have no interest in what is being reviewed but enjoy a good read with entertaining pictures. It is quite the responsibility but one I truly love because I feel I have many cyber friends here and really enjoy the challenge.

I play single length, am a 19 HC, much chance to be tester, ever?

Are you looking for low handicap testers, club pros, etc.

Or might you choose - thoughtful articulate - hackers to test certain clubs

that are designed for such golfers?

Anyone can test as long as you meet the general requirements. Go to the first page of this thread and read carefully.

I think these three posts should be required reading for anyone wishing to be a tester. 

I've been fortunate enough to take part in several member tests and can't emphasize enough that it is the most fun you can have under some of the most pressure you'll ever feel in your life. I can honestly admit my hands were shaking when I got the notification I had been chosen for the 2018 SuperSpeed test.

There was a lot of pressure, mostly self induced, to give the most thorough and honest review I could. Trying to take adequate photos, give honest answers, and write a review that does justice for the opportunity takes a lot of work and is so rewarding at the same time. 

I still want to encourage anyone who comes here for the testing to get involved with the community. We have a lot of wonderful members here who are so open to sharing their wisdom and knowledge. Plus, it's fun to have conversations with people across the world about the game we all love. The friendships I've made here mean more than any testing I've done.

I will be 68 next month, I am 6' 3" tall weigh 275 and just went to regular flex shafts. My swig speed is 89 mph now. My last  2 sets of clubs were callaway. I would like the opportunity to try a different brand out. Thanks
