Thin2win
Not Sunday at the Masters, but I'm going to the Saturday (final) round for the Women's Amateur. Honestly, as my first time to the property, I'm excited that I'm going to this event instead of the Masters. Expecting that crowd size will be substantially smaller and allow me the chance to move more freely and take in the property. All that said, had anyone else been to this event? I've been following the "going to the masters" thread but wondering if there is anything I should know specific to this event as opposed to that one. I've been following the "going to the masters" thread but wondering if there is anything I should know specific to this event as opposed to that one. I've been to both The Masters and the ANWA. I took my daughter to the inaugural ANWA in 2019. Having been on property several times prior to 2019, the ANWA is far less congested. Here is a list of my favorite places to watch. Around the stands between the 4th green and 5th tee is awesome. My daughter sat there and talked to Condoleezza Rice and Heidi Ueberroth for half an hour. Between the 5th green and 6th tee is great for getting close to the players. The area behind the 12th tee is a must-see. The area overlooking the approach on 13 is great. Near the fairway bunker on #1 is a sneaky-good spot to get up-close to players as is the area in the trees between the 1st and 9th fairways. Being less crowded, standing behind the 16th tee is great, which is almost impossible during The Masters. My daughter enjoyed sitting on the hillside overlooking the 6th and 16th greens. She also loved the area between the 17th green and 18th tee. The ANWA is far less crowded so you will get to see more of the property. The ladies are much more open with the fans, which may have been a result of me tagging along with my daughter. I think by the time the day was over, she had fist-bumped everyone in the field. She even got to stand on the 6th tee with Zoe Campos and Rose Zhang as they kind-of swept her up between them as they walked from #5 green to #6 tee. I was panicked. I just knew we were going to get kicked out. The Marshall (in a green jacket) smiled at me and said "relax dad, we'll get her right back to you once she's had an experience she won't soon forget." fixyurdivot
How hard are these tickets to obtain and what is the cost? I've pretty much given up on The Masters, but this looks to be a great concession for being able to experience Augusta National. Tickets for the first two rounds at Champions Gate are free of charge. Saturday final round tickets are $75 each. I have not gotten through the lottery process since the first year so, now I look forward to the twice-per-year Augusta rejection email. https://www.anwagolf.com/en_US/patron/index.html?tab=augusta_ticketing Thin2win, fixyurdivot and MattWillGolf
Headhammer
Man, the ANWA has really taken off providing golf fans who have always wanted to see AGNC in person, another yearly opportunity. My neighbor asked if I wanted 2 tix to Sunday's final round for the measly sum of $1,500. Yikes! I'll guess the opening rounds at half that price which, if the case, is still more than I'd want to spend. JudgeSmails
on a side note, i'm surprised they have this event so close to the Masters, just for the sake of the course condition.......do the divots/marks/etc...have time to grow back? Just curious The first 2 days of the weekend event is played at a different course. Then only the top 30 get to play Augusta on Saturday. I believe the rest of the competitors get to play a practice round, but we aren't talking about a tournament worth of shots. I'm sure the practice rounds the PGA players play dwarf the rounds these ladies get to play.
