... They are the stock graphite shaft and $100 more than stock steel shafts. I have some Steelfiber i80's ready to install but figured I would give these a try first.

They sure look good,  that's for sure

... I came down with a sinus infection Tuesday night and almost walked off the course yesterday. These are much harder to defeat using homeopathic remedies but destroying my gut health with antibiotics is just not an option for me. So of course as soon as the infection dug in, my Forged Tec irons arrived. 🤧   Sneak preview before I get to play them and post a review. Note: I may not be able to combo as the FTx 4 iron has quite a bit more visual offset than the FT 5 iron but will play them before rushing to any judgements.

Sam,  which KBS TGI shafts did you get in those Forged TEC irons?  I have been playing the TGI 80 (stiff) shafts in my last three sets of irons and I love them!

DR - Callaway Paradym AI Smoke TD, Newton Motion 4-Dot

4W - Callaway Paradym 3HL, Newton Motion Fairway shaft, 4-Dot

HYB - Paradym X 18*, HZRDUS Smoke Red 80S; Sub 70 949X 21*, same shaft

7W (if played) - Sub 70 849, ProForce Black 80-S

Irons - Callaway Paradym, HZRDUS Silver Gen 4, S-flex

Wedges - Edison 2.0, 53* and 57* (bent to 58*), KBS TGI 100

Putter - (currently in flux, but usually an Evnroll 8V

Ball - Maxfli Tour-X CG (2023)

Bags - Ghost Golf Maverick Black Ops

Cart - MotoCaddy M7 Remote (without the remote)

... TGi 85 stiff, soft stepped. Not sure if the 85 is proprietary for Cobra since all I see in .370 are the 80's but I figured this is the shaft they recommend so wanted to write a review using their "stock" graphite option.  I had already bought a set of Steelfiber i80 shafts to install in the FT's since I love the i95's so much in my MIM irons, but I am hoping the TGi 85's are a good fit and won't need the i80's.

I was always a SteelFiber fan, but once I was introduced to the KBS TGI shafts by Kim Braly at the PGA Merchandise Show a few years ago, I have been a huge fan of them.  I think that they are the most consistent composite iron shafts that I have ever played.

... Always interesting to see how different players respond to different shafts. The TGi's have produced excellent performance but I just don't like the feel. I imagine I could get used to the feel if I played them exclusively for a month or two. But I pulled them and I am re-shafting this weekend with the Steelfiber i80's. I played Southern Dunes yesterday with my MIM irons and the Steelfibers were just instantly better. Granted I have been playing this combo for 1.5 years and well over 350 rounds so of course I am very comfortable with them. First 7 holes the ball never left the flag and possible the best 7 hole ball striking ever for me. Only 2 birdies because I was long and short with one perched on a ledge so ball mark was a foot from the flag but slid down the tier.  Wind picked up to about 15mph on the back 9 and I hit a 187 yd 6 iron to a few feet and then back into the wind hit the same 6 iron to a couple feet from 161. I imagine the 187 yd with a Forged Tec 6 iron might have flown the green!

... The Forged Tec's always had an uphill battle to replace my MIM's but with Steelfiber i80s installed, I think they still may have a shot. 🤞

I honestly expect these to be a viable candidate against the 0211 thst I just put in the bag.   I didn’t have great luck with the 2020 version though.

... I think you probably know but the 2020's were somewhere between these two new 2022 offerings. I only have the 4 iron in the X but it is stupid long. The offset is just too much for me coming from MIM's and their is a big gap between my FT 5 iron and FT-X 4 iron as the X is very close to my 2 DI. I will be interested in your opinions after playing them.

Ran a search and found this thread.   Also saw Tony's story on the release of these irons back in April.   The new Cobra 2022 Forged TEC is a really beautiful looking iron.    I've had mixed results with these hollow body, foam filled irons.   I've owned and played TM 790s and Ping i525s.  I just put my i525s in the closet after a few really poor ball striking rounds two weeks ago.    The "best of" players distance iron testing here at MGS shows the Cobra to be close to the same forgiveness of the i525s.   I don't want the offset or the even stronger lofts of the X version, but if the swing tightens up again I'm very tempted to find a set of Forged TECs.

I have the FT-X and have only had them in play for one round, the PXG has sidelined them 🙂    But I can tell you they are miles better feeling than the 2021 P790.   I have not hit the 525 and don't plan to, I don't need any more temptations...ha

The rave reviews of these are not surprising.

Which 0211s have you been playing?  Are these the DC or ST?  For the price, it's hard to imagine either one being beaten by anything else - SERIOUSLY tempted to sell my set and upgrade to the DC (currently in a set of Sim Max from early 2020).  What set-up do you have in the 0211s (shaft, grip, etc.)?  Their upgrade options are super reasonable, as well.

Doesn't hurt that they're not bad-looking, either, but man...those Cobra FT are stunning.

Driver - PXG 0811 XF - Gen 5, 9 degrees (+1 setting), Oban Devotion TR 65 04
3/5 Wood - Cobra LTDx Max (Blue Colorway)
Utility - Caley X01 Driving Iron (3 = 18*)
Irons (5-PW) - Caley 01T
Wedges (48, 52, 56, 60) - Indi Wedges FLX 48 / ATK 52, 56, 60
Putter - L.A.B. Directed Force 2.1 - 65*

So I HAD the 0211DC, played them for about 3 rounds and loved them.  So I figure if they are that good the new Gen 5 or even the Gen 3 must be better.  Scheduled a full bag fittng at the new DC PXG Store.   Went in with the 0211DC- I had a Nippon 850 GH shaft in them.   I hit the Gen 5 with SteelFiber 80G.   I had a little more distance with the Gen 5 but a much tighter flight dispersion.   The PXG fitter told me..."I love it when people come in with the 0211, we can rarely beat them with anything new.  I often tell them, you can't do any better than that.   You're pretty much the same, you are a little better with the Gen 5, but probably not worth the cost.

So of course I selpt on it for two days and ordered the Gen 5 and returned the 0211 within the 30 day return period.   It did cost me a bit in shaft upgrade to go to the SteelFiber, but I figured if you're spending that much on irns, you shouldn't cut cost on the shafts that are the best for you.

Two rounds in withthe Gen 5 and they are even better than the 0211 and Forged Tec, I think the shaft made a huge difference, I'm 15 yards longer with these Gen 5, so I'm hitting a 9 iron where I used to hit a 8 and even 7 sometimes.

All that said, the FT are a knock out looking club.   If you have a chance to go try both, I would encourage it.   You can't go wrong either way.

Awesome.  There is a fitter quasi-near me - was definitely pondering a fitting even if I just end up with the 0211's, since they can really dial in every setting and not just what I was fit into in my last fitting 2 years ago.

The price-to-performance ratio is just shocking to me, at $79/club.  I was pondering taking a flyer on the Takomo 101T/201s, but with no way to hit them and no real return policy (because I'd want them 2-degrees flat per my last fitting), that becomes less than ideal.

My game has improved significantly over the last two year (thanks to lessons and LOTS of practice), so I'm at the point where curiosity has me wondering if I can shrink some my dispersion circles with a new set.  Lots to consider (Sub-70 being on that list as well).

Really appreciate the info.

Yeah, you are correct the price of the 0211 make it a very low risk trial.   Well at least for us club "afficandos'   ha  I was somewhat curius about the Takomo as well, but held off for the exact reasons you mentioned.

The Sub70 are highly rated, and I've never heard anyone being disappotmed with those.   Just shows there are so many great options out there, and they are all very good clubs, so it proably comes down to a personal preference on looks.

Good luck, have fun and congrats on the improved play, I'm getting there little by little myself, it seems.

I played the prior generation forged tec. Full disclosure I use to work puma and no longer work at puma.  I went to get fitted for new irons.  I was open to all brands.  The first club I hit was the new Forged Tec with the $ taper stiff 120 shaft.  The numbers were off the chart. I have these irons in my bag.  They are rocket launchers.
