I still see Mizuno more than Titleist in that back. But that's me.

Yup, I totally see where Titleist and Mizuno got their inspiration 🙂.

I think it would be easy to say a club looks simular to another brand with all the designs over the years it's bound to happen.

There is only so much can be changed . Take time and look back at some designs that were crazy ,does anyone have  pictures of odd designs that didn't make the grade?

Pretty soon we'll be hearing about Titleist, Mizuno and Wilson bringing out their "Pointed U Sole", which is clearly NOT a V. . .

Yes. Pre order is in and I’m checking the status daily to see if I’m lucky enough to have them released before official launch in April.  But I highly doubt it.

You have had these now for at least a week, either you have already sold them or somehow got so busy you decided that you didn't want to give us any first impressions...  Maybe both. Either way, deets!

Ha...Sold, no that would be a record even for me 🙂

I had my first round with them on Wednesday.  It was in the rain and cold.  Is that enough of a disclaimer already, where you see this is going 🙂

Yeah, to put specifics to that, about 54 degees, steady light rain, not enough for an umbrella or to stop, but enought that I had to keep my glasses clean after every hole.  and a bit windy, not so much it affected flight, but enough that with the rain and relatively cold temps, provided a pretty misereable day for 14 of the 18 holes.

So the first thing I will say, even those these are in the D9 GI family.  There is enough "player forging" that you will get feedback if you mishit it, especially on a cold damp day.  But on the same hand you will get a wonderful feel when you pure it, whichI did on two par 3's that both led to birdies, one from 110 and the other from 138.  Hit 9  and 6 iron.  But I had a lot more mishits than solid hits.  I don't tend to play well in cold weather, and therefore I rarely play in it.  But I was taking 3 of our employees out for a round at a local nice course, as a thank you for the great work they do.   We hap postponed the previous week due to rain, and our schedules get jammed starting next week, so it was pretty much play that day or wait a long while.

One of the guys in our shop who is a scratch player and has the Tiger P7TW irons, took a look at them and said they look great at address.  He saw the sole had a bit of width to it and said the top line did a good job of disgusing that bit of a wider sole.

So yeah, they do look great on all accounts.   But like most forged irns, they will let you know when you miss a spot.  As for getting away with some fat/heavy shots, which I had a few of, they didn't disguise that as well as my T300, but certainly did better than the Mizuno 223's did.

More to come next week when temps improve a bit.

I’ve done some testing now that they are in fitting system. I’ll say that all that think it looks like another club style, that after hitting it you will think they all look like the D9

I've tried these at a couple of demo days I've done. They are ridiculously easy to hit. I was bundled up with multiple layers, a winter coat and some thinner under armour winter gloves (welcome to demo days in Michigan!) and I could still find the middle or close to it with these things.

These new irons look sensational, when they arrive at the pro shop, I'll be testing these for sure! I'm currently playing the Wilson C200 from a few years ago.

Taking these out again tomorow.  Temps are supposed to be in the 70’s.  So I should get a better “feel” for them.

I attended a Wilson demo day yesterday just to see and hit the D9 forged.  My first impression, WOWIE, ZOWIE !!!

Indoor Trackman simulator, so take it for what it's worth.  Beautiful looking to boot.

For context, I should share that I just purchased new PXG 0211 DC irons over the winter, so I probably should not have even gone.   Hitting them side by side, 7 iron only of course, the Wilson's won on distance and feel.  Forgiveness was neck and neck.  All close to be sure, but Wilson had the edge.

I gamed the C200's for a few years, just really loved them, but they no longer match my swing.  I have a buddy trying them out right now who has been struggling with his iron play for years, and so far, he is gushing about what he's seen so far.

Suffice it to say, I'm trying to figure out how I can convince my wife that I need to get rid of my new clubs, and buy new, new clubs.  Fat chance of that happening.

Is it bad form to nominate myself to be an official tester (if one comes out) for these irons?  I know my specs from the demo day, so it would be an easy order.  Just saying.

Of course it is bad form, but let's just call it "campaigning".   That way I can assuage my guilt, and make it sound better.

Would that be fair  ??????

Well maybe not that fast, and those damn Stealths are still living in my head as well.  I hope @sellemental isn't the same specs as me as a solid offer could catch my ear...ha

About the only brand new release I have ruled out are the 525.  I hit a friends and didn't like them at all, fortunately I hit them before he traded them back in 2 days after buying them...ha   Just don't have the feel of the I500 from what I recall.

Too scared to even mention I even went to the wife yet, but since she's out of the room, my best numbers were with the regular flex Dart shaft, standard length, loft, and plus 1 degree lie angle.  I'll check back in 9 days, LOL !

In the words of the late great Alex Trebek.  “Oh so Clooose”

so if you are OCD about your specs.  You’re probably safe. These are

Nippon Modus 105 R

1/2 long

2 degrees up

recoil dart was the 2nd recommendation thst the shaft analyzer suggested. If I hadn’t had good success with Nippon before..I would have gone Dart
