Side games during competition rounds

I dislike starting with anecdotes, but on the weekend just gone I found the side game we played as a foursome helped keep me focussed on trying to play well despite being -9 in a par round with 6 holes to play. We played two-ball matchplay with the second ball being a tiebreaker if necessary. Wanting to not lose this side match kept me in it mentally and although my overall competition score was already beyond help before the end of the round, helped me focus on playing well.

 

In our group we tend to alternate between this matchplay format and two ball skins. I wanted to see if there were any other creative style of side games (not betting-centred) that others on here play. Having only two side game formats might get a bit stale.

If it’s not betting then side games don’t interest me.

There’s round robin where you switch partners every 6 holes

Greenies for GIR for the person closest to the hole

Snakes (3 putts)

Sandies for sand saves and double sandies for holing it from the bunker.

Poleys for any putt first putt made that’s longer than the flagstick and double for holing out from off the green 

Chicken which is a form of skins where the person who wins a hole becomes chicken and stays that until he/she wins or loses another hole

In a group that I used to play in we had, barkie/woodies. If your ball hit a tree during the play of a hole and you made par, that was a barkie or woodie.

There's left/right.  With 4 players, the 2 the farthest right off the tee are a team against the 2 farthest left.  Teams are not predetermined and can change every hole.

I have done this with 3 players as well.  LCR.  It's just like wolf but you don't determine the wolf until after balls are hit.  The person in the center goes against those left & Right.
