Hi Everyone..there has been ongoing talk for years about a National MGS Outing.   While that is still something that is on Adam's radar and mine, I thought I'd try and start with a Regional Outing of sorts, to at least get the ball rolling then maybe it can morph into a larger one.

I've done a lot of research over the past couple months and have a place targeted and have availaiblity and pricng from them.   What I would like to hear from everyone is while not a 100% commitment at this point, but a true definite likely hood that you would make it.   Right now we only hae two dates as options for a variety of reasons.   So it would definitely be one of these two dates.   I'm including a poll for you to vote for the date that is most likely fo ryou, if you would be willing to come for either date, you can vote for both.

Bassic details, more info will come if I decide the interest is enough and genuine.

Location Queenstown Harbor Golf Course-20 minutes East of Annapolis MD on the Eastern Shore of MD.   About 45 minutes to 1 Hour drive from BWI airport.

Queenstown Harbor Golf Course

Dates:   Aug 5-7

              Sept 16-18

There will be two days of golf Saturday and Sunday.   You can choose to play both days or either day.  Two different courses, River and Lakes.  The River Course is annually rated as one of the top 5 or 10 public courses in the state of Maryland.

Accoodations aviable to the first 20 players will be large house on the property adjancent to the 2nd tee and a waterview. Perfect spot for the group to hang out each day and hve fun.

Wye cottage has 8 beds and 3 full baths (see  This Link for detail)

Cheser Cottage has 12 beds and 5 baths (see This Link for details )

Arrive sometime Friday-time on your own to relax or play a practice round if you'd like.   We could possibly arrange a group dinner Friday night

Saturday-18 holes on River Course tee time starts around 9:00 to 10:00  (possible OEM demo available afterward)  Saturday night hang out

Sunday-18 holes on Lakes Course tee time starts around 9:00-considering some may have afternoon flights or long drives home.

The cost isn't 100% now, it will ultiately depend on how many stay overnight.   We would need a minium of 8 to 10 guys to commit to a Friday/Saturday night stay.  Those that don't stay overnight and only want to play one day can be accomodated as well, assuming we don't sell out the 24 spots two day overnighters.  If that does happen early enough, I can always try to add more tee times on each day.

So costs would be approxiametly

2 nights lodging  between $460 to $600 for both nights.

Golf would be $120 for the River Course and $80 for the Lakes Course

So just to put it togetgher if you are staying in the cottage for 2 nights and playing golf both days-Your package price would be between $660 and $800 all in, with 50% deposit due once the event is final in the next 14 days or so.

I also hope to be able to provide some swag, and would love to get someone from HQ  Adam or Harry to join in.

So for now please select an option above, again if you really think you can make it.  It's important fo rme to give them a firm count and a deposit willl be due.

I do welcome any thoughts and comments inthe thread here---except for suggesions on alternate dates or location 🙂

When I was one of two site modirtors for www.GolfGearReview.com about 17 years ago. I set up an invite only golf event here in the Denve area where I live. I made arrangements to play golf every day for a week at different local golf courses and left it up to those that came in from out of town to find a place to stay. I provided a short list of hotels in the area for them to pick from, but other than that they were on their own for housing. We had 5 members of the site show up and play for the week. NOT all came for the full week but a few did. We started off playing an easy wide open course and finished up on Saturday at pretty demanind course up in the foothills to conclude the week. Since I set up the course times and had room for one guest, I put up one member at my home for the week. Everything worked out pretty well and everyone had a good time playing golf and meeting new friends for the week. We did it again the next year again in the Denver area. Green fees ranged from $20 to $$35 per round and hotels were less than $100 a nite, sot the total cost for the week was not that high.  Adding in air fair from DIA both ways and cost of shipping a bag of clubs back and forth, I think I skip it this year. NOT in my budget this year for sure.

All my clubs are custom built with aftermarket shafts that have been spine and FLO aligned for max performance every swing.

Yep, I have planeed group outings for more years than I can remember.   Matter of fact the first piece of advice I ever got from a friend who had been doing it for a while was funny, but turned out spot on.  He said, "If you ever find yourself having more freinds than you need.  Plan a golf trip for 24 guys, you'll find yourself with about 12 to 16 fewer freinds by the time the whole thing is done 🙂    Pretty spot on.

For this one, I am doing everything possible in negotiating the rate to try and get it feesable for as many to stay on site in the cottages as possible.  For a gorup like this who have known each other for probably more than 5 to 10 years in most cases, but for the most part has never met in person or palyed together, it makes for a great atmopshere and good time to hang out, vesus everyone heading off to a different hotel afterward.

Yeah, and that is one of the querstions I have into the course now, there are a couple very small new bungalows that are opening this spring, about 150 yards or so from the cottages.  So I'm asking about one or two of those.

But as for hotels off site, there is a nice Hilton Garden Inn about 10 minutes away and I also heard a friend say another newer hotel just opened in the area too.  I'll get info on it as well.   But hopefully everyone would be most interested in staying in the cottage.

I know it's "shared" rooms and all...but everyone would have their OWN bed, so there is no John Candy/Steve Martin incidents...ha

Ok, update.

Looks like it's going to be the Aug 5/7 weekend.   So I've sent here some preliminary numbers based on this thread.

So now we are down to the commitment parts.  So I asked her what and when she needs to lock it in.   I will pass that on as soon as I get it, but be prepared for a depsoit to be needed probably within the next week.

Hopefully everyone that inidcted they should be able to make it will.

You’re truck is big enough. You can sleep there.  But of course pay full rate for the toilet and showers!

In for Aug. My club has our "senior" club  championship over the Sept dates <I bet more than a few might have same Sept conflict>. Since I'm a snorer I'd lean toward a solo room/hotel out of courtesy. Can I book the stl-dc flight now?

<just moved from DC metro so it'd be fun to go back and see old gang on shoulder of trip>
