Post-round cleanup

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a push cart and shoes (thumbs up for adidas Men's CODECHAOS 21) during the winter and broke them both out at a municipal course for the first time last week. I've previously been a walker and an athletic shoe wearer, so I was not accustomed to the massive amount of goose poop that ended up stuck to my shoes and on the wheels of the cart. I knocked what I could off but I ended up with a non trivial amount of...stuff... in the trunk of my car.

Are there any tips or products you can recommend for post-round cleanups of cart wheels and spikeless shoes? My car and my wife would greatly appreciate it. 😅

I have run into the same issue. I just use the pressure washer the guys use to clean the carts.

+1. On sloppy days I use the cart pressure washer too, often without the pump turned on. If that wasn’t available, I’d find a water hose or air hose somewhere. If all else fails, I have a stiff brush and a small towel in my trunk that I’ve always used to clean off my shoes - surely you had to clean your shoes sometimes after walking? Bashing the shoes together knocks off a lot too.

Typically the wheels aren’t too bad but I know if I steer the cart in the parking lot it cleans up quickly. Shoes in the other hand get a few good whacks to get rid off the messy stuff on the bottom

Goose droppings were a challenge at my old course. The ideal solution would be if there was a relatively easy way to hose off after the round but that isn't always the case. In the past, I generally knock the chucks off the push cart with my foot then take the shoes off and whack them together until the loose stuff falls off. The other option is to embrace the dirtiness and get a cargo tray from your vehicle that is easy to remove and wash.

I posted this somewhere else around here. When I lived on Long Island there was a course down the street called Bergen Point. It was covered In goose droppings. We used womens disposable shower caps on the wheels of our push / pull carts. It became so popular everyone was doing it. Once you get to the parking lot take them off and toss them away.  That solves the wheel issues at least. For my golf shoes I kept a plastic tote in my trunk. Shoes went in there until I got home. Either wait for them to dry and clap. You have the option to hose them off while it's still fresh but just remember to keep your mouth shut.🤣

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I'll keep an eye out for water/air hoses but I'll probably end up getting a trunk liner and a hand held scrub brush from Home Depot.

Simple. Lay out an old towel or blanket in the back of the car for your shoes and cart. You can clean them both thoroughly at home by whatever means you desire.

That's my low-tech solution as well, at least with my shoes (don't own a push cart yet). I have an old beach towel that I put everything on in my truck to keep things clean.

I have a trunk liner in the back of mine, so I'm not overly concerned.

An old shoe box works great for your shoes (shocking, I know 😉 ). As for the cart, the old blankets or towels that have been mentioned are the simplest solution.

Rag tag bag, but it does the job.

Taylormade R1 driver.

Ping G400 3 wood.

Cleveland Halo Launcher 3 hybrid.

Cleveland CBX launcher irons (5-PW).

Assorted wedges (48, 52, 58).

Odyssey White Hot Pro 2.0 putter.

So do I.  I can get most of the goose poop off the cart wheels before I get to the car, but if it's particularly bad I use the hose in cart return.  As for shoes a stiff nylon bristle brush works OK with maybe a little help from a spray bottle of water when the flocks of little geese show up... probably in the next month or so.
