Tmmy
66 yr. old golfer here. Average size hands. I've hit a few jumbo size grips on the range lately, and, am really considering making the switch. They feel great. Would appreciate hearing some comments, pro and con. Bobbers
tony@CIC
I wear an XL glove and tried a GP jumbo grip once. It didn't feel right so I switched back to MCC+4 mid size with 2 extra layers of tape. russtopherb
I’ve tried jumbo a few times and they just feel too big for me. I do prefer midsized but that’s as big as I’ll go. Bobbers
I wear a medium glove and misized, for me the Winn LT, fit the bill perfectly. The "jumbo" grips are just too much for me. Tom the Golf Nut
I wear a medium size glove but I have long fingers. When I first started playing I was fit to jumbo grips. They felt to big and I was having issues not getting the face back to square. A golf instructor recommended that I go down to a midsize grip. Once I did everything felt better and the results were better. I currently have the Golf pride CP2 Pro in midsize. But the new Golf Pride soft grips in gray are peaking my interest. I've played the Golf Pride CP2 both pro & wrap for a long time. Bought 3 of the new Gray of which you speak. They are fantastic, now looking for another 10 grips. Jumbo grips weigh a lot, even compared to midsize grips. They will lower the swingweight of your clubs. Maybe you will notice it; maybe you won't. Since they are also rather expensive, I would suggest trying one or two clubs, maybe driver and a mid-iron before investing in grips for all. That is generally true, but there are lighter weight jumbo grips. JumboMax UltraLites are 35-50 grams depending on size, which is lighter or on par with a standard grip. Clemsonfan
I am a big fan of Jumbomax Ultralight grips. I use the Smalls, which are a 1/4” over standard. They are great grips! For comparison, my handspan is just under 8”. I can palm a basketball and as a former tennis player, I like a larger grip with my fingers just touching the palm of my left hand when I grip the club. Goid luck. Quote Titleist 915D2 9.5 set at A4 Tour Exotics CB2 15* Rogue Pro Irons 5-Aw 2* flat Vokey SM6 56* S and 60* K
AndySP
One thing about the lightweight ones though is that, so far, they all have that soft polyurethane feel. I personally find it slick compared to rubber. I have a JMX ultralight on an 8 iron that I bring around sometimes but it’s the texture that keeps me from switching. drb1956
I use Lamkin Crossline Oversize on all my clubs, except driver, which is a midsize. Hold up well, good value, washable. I play 15-20 times a year, so I get a few years on these before I change them out. My .02...
