fixyurdivot 17,368
Everyone recovered yet? Hard to be the follow-up act to The Masters, but someone's gotta do it and the good folks at Harbor Town Golf Links are ready to give it a go! Home of the iconic (fake) lighthouse and patrons wearing plaid, Hilton Head SC and the RBC Heritage is among the top stops on tour. A healthy handful of players from Augusta are in the field to include; Speith, Thomas, Smith, Cantlay, Morikawa, and DJ. Those that played all four days at Augusta may be at a disadvantage... worn out . In fact, it wouldn't surprise me that a few late WD's have the "alternates" scrambling to pack and catch a flight there. Stewart Cink returns to defend his title and, as well as he has been playing of late, it would not surprise me if he's in in the final mix on Sunday. While not on my FTx team, my gut tells me DJ is overdue and I'm thinking he'll get it done. Don't forget to make your pick for this weeks winner https://runmypools.com/JRMPNWWF. Good luck! Almost forgot about the ceremonial cannon-shot . 2 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review)
vandyland 418
Looking forward to this one! I played HT last year so I am hoping to have a new perspective on many of the holes, particularly the par 5 15th because I cannot understand how someone can have the shotmaking ability to reach that in two but somehow people do it:
juspoole 3,326
Going to watch this one a little bit closer this year. I will be going back to Sea Pines in June, but this time will play Harbour Town. Only downfall is they punch the greens about 12 days before I play it - hopefully that's enough time to recover. I've played several other HHI courses over the last few years we've gone and really enjoy Carolina/Georgia type golf. Looking forward to it. 2 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34"

That has to be one of the narrowest and tree lined fairways on tour! For grins, I looked up some more info on that hole and perhaps it's just that view and the shadowing of the trees, because this dosen't look quite as daunting. Note the highlighted comment about reaching in two. No doubt that applies to a good many holes on tour in the past decade. I like it too but MAN so many of the SC courses near the ocean are mega tight/narrow.

It is not overly narrow compared to some of the other holes BUT if you are even 5 yds left of the center of the fairway you are probably blocked out. The trees on the left and right are MASSIVE and actually one of my critiques of Harbour Town is that they have let the trees get too big for "normal" play. As far as a tournament test, it is awesome. It forces players to hit a variety of shots and has a ton of 1/2 shot penalties for being out of position. As for it being a resort course, I think it is less and less "playable" for us mortals and it will just keep getting tighter each year, methinks. I thought it was a cool experience but I am not sure I would do it again because I only felt like I could hit driver 2-3 times during the round and it was incredibly expensive.
mikeanthony 1,461
Good grief! We all have to deal with player idiosyncrasies; some do it better than others but pros should be better at it than most of us. The way Cantley is putting... I think I'll start my routine with a shuffle stance!! 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
fixyurdivot 17,368
I haven't had a chance to watch any of this event, but hopefully tomorrow. Only 2 of my FTx team made the cut... events after majors are often odd... actually surprised Cam Smith didn't WD prior to Thursday. I had a hunch he'd be dragging around post Masters baggage but started him anyway. And what-up with Rickie Fowler? He is seriously looking like he's heading back to the Korn Ferry next year . 1 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review)

I have had it on in the background the last two days...making me wish I was on vacation in Hilton Head. Rickie is so dang likable, but so frustrating to like these days. I can't image how he is questioning himself mentally. 1 1 Quote Big Bertha (2014) / Demoing Sub70 849D V Steel 3 & 5 woods 939X 4H 699 (4-6) / 699 Pro (7-PW) with KBS Tour 120 shafts (stiff) 286 Wedge (50 degrees) 588 RTX 2.0 (56 degrees) ER8v with Fujikura MC shaft (firm) University of Miami Stand Bag Supersoft / Maxfli Tour

fixyurdivot 17,368
What a difference a course makes - referring back to Augusta and both the stark contrast in average scoring to par. Jordan should have listened to Greller .... well, upon further review . He knew he had the protection of the free drop from the grandstands. Did I mention I really do not like Van Rooyen pants? 1 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review)
