TRUEGolfFit - Show your results!

Recommended Posts

We do have several threads here on TGF, but now that it is a free service for all to use and try out we want to see what results you came away with and what was recommended for you!

In line with this we would also love to hear what you are currently using and how this compares? What do you think? Would this be a potential upgrade on what you currently have? Have you tried the recommended club already and if so what were the results compared to your current gamer?

I believe all of us know that this chosen driver may not be the be all and end all in a fit for you, but it should be a great starting point for you when looking at a new driver.

So with that here is the link if you haven't already gone to check it out: https://truegolffit.com/

And here is my results
April 15th, 2022
Screenshot 2022-04-15 07.09.27.png

I currently have (which reminds me I need to update my WITB) a Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero with an Aldila Rogue Max 65 Stiff shaft. So given this suggestion it stands to reason that this could very well be a great suitable driver for me and one that I am eager to try out! I have gone in and tested the Rogue ST Max D as it was the only lefty head they had and it worked quite well. The shaft was the same Mitsubishi which is recommended and one that I could see myself using, however with the Max D the spin went way too high and I did miss right more than I care to admit. However the sound and feel were things I really enjoyed about the new Rogue... So overall I give a win to TGF with this recommendation and hopefully in the not too distant future I can get my hands on one to put head to head!

Enjoy all and looking forward to see your results!

I am currently in the market for a driver. I purchased my 2014 Big Bertha (std length R-flex) used with no knowledge. I am currently demoing a Sub 70 849D with an Evenflow Riptide 60g stiff shaft. TRUEGolfFit recommeneded the Stealth with an Aldila Ascent Red Stiff shaft. I have a driver fitting tomorrow, I'll b sure to include the Stealth...

Currently gaming the Callaway Epic Max LS with Motore X 6x shaft.

Accoring to TGF it seems I'm not far off:

TGF2.JPG

I hit this combo at the NE golf show and it felt dynamite.  I still need to try it on a proper LM against the Epic Max LS.

The Tensei AV White also should be a good fit for me, I've used the Tensei White Pro in both stiff and X-Stiff in the past and get along well with those profiles.

The real question is.... would is be 4.92 yards further?  That part is a little hard to believe, as I seemed to pick up a few yards on my average distance with the Epic Max LS over the Speedzone and I just don't see that happening again.  I think I'm near my max unless I start swinging faster.  Or maybe I should try a lower loft now that I have my left to right settled down.

So here's my results.

The Cobra LTDx was the second option.

Interestingly when I last did this the 2022 releases weren't out yet, and my first recommendation was the W/S D9 driver... and I currently have the D7 in the bag.

I got:

image.png.da01c409152a512d50b9447478649dae.png

I have not been a fan of the callaway drivers past few years swinging them @ local shops, just did not feel right for whatever reason. I also don't typically get along with the Mitsubishi shafts but would like to go swing this and see what happens. Currently am in F1 6X which I really enjoy so don't think the setup will get booted anytime soon.

Seems like a lot of people make the comparison against their current driver because that is what we do during a fitting so we can see the improvement.  I have been reading some of the recent comments especially by people that have been fit that there is no way it will beat their driver that much with the shaft it recommended.

yeah, it's the natural through process.  It probably could be worded better like "+4 yards more than our database average" or something like that.  It's probably in there in the fine print and I just missed it.

This is both fun and interesting, and I'd imagine this would be very helpful for many golfers as a baseline ... got the Aldila Red 50 Stiff shaft as my TrueGolfFit output. After seeing a few Tensei Blue responses, was somewhat expecting the same for those are in my 3W and hybrids. Previously has the Tensei Blue 55 S in my older TS2 driver.

Currently swinging the Alta CB Red 55 within the PING G410 driver.

I am compulsive as hell so I shot down to PGASS this morning after the results. More to swing the Mizunos after going to the PGA show a few weeks back.

Short and sweet of it I loved the triple diamond head. Feel was great and was getting decent numbers from it, spin was pretty low, wish I could see the apex. Swings werent terrible but could definitely get more Carry out of this. Have not been a fan of callaway for a few years but really liked this rogue.

Still not getting along with Mitsubishi though. Ran short on time and would like to give the head a whirl with a few other shafts. Still don't think it rill replace the Cobra.

I have been utterly fascinated by the TruGolfFit for quite a while.  I've shared it with several of my golf buddies, which many of them have tried also.  I was skeptical for quite a while because it was simply online asking a handful of questions, but finally broke down last year and had to do it.  Glad that I did.

Here are the results for that one:

image.png.14f6fce3a681b787d9709642eab1b098.png

I was intrigued by the accuracy improvement, but was pretty satisfied with the TS2 driver I had been gaming all season, which gave me remarkable improvement over my previous driver. Therefore I wasn't ready to make any change at the time.  Then came the off season, aka, winter in Wisconsin.  Nowhere near me was there anywhere to try hitting my recommendation, but over the winter I was able to hit the Srixon on two occasions, and was very impressed.

I should admit I am a bit of a value person (also called cheap by several of my acquaintances), so I wasn't ready to pony up for a new driver either.  I did find a used one on Rock Bottom for a good price with additional discounting during a promo period, and ordered the recommended driver.  I've played it for a couple months on indoor simulators and now a couple real rounds, and am very happy with it.  As I had hoped, really improved accuracy and even added some distance for me, more than the 2.80 yards described.  Good hits are really positive, but poor strikes are MUCH more playable.

I was always perplexed where the improved numbers came from, but after someone commented they derive from the Golf Spy database, and not my actual numbers, it became what should have been obvious more clear.  Duh !

Then the service became free.  Woo Hoo !  So I tried it again.  Results this time:

image.png.02f4f2450c256a1d2e016f783cdb5746.png

Although that distance gain is a nasty little tease, I doubt I would see that gain.  I'll let you guess what my plan is based on previous statements, but $600 for a new driver isn't really an option.

Kudos to My Golf Spy to making this tool available.  At least one of the guys I recommended this to is actively pursuing a purchase based on his personal recommendation, and at least one other guy is hemming and hawing about his, even though he just recently purchased a new driver also.

I game the G400SFT. Both recommended drivers #1 Calloway Rogue and #2 G425 Max suggested stiff shafts. I thought slower swing speeds needed the soft flex shafts. Currently using the stock senior flex on my Ping. What don’t I understand?

One thing to remember flexes are not standardized. So a R Flex from company A can act a lot like a S flex from company B.

Weights, torque, counterbalance and more are all things to consider with shafts.

Along with your swing if tempo is fast even with a slower swing speed often a stiffer flex can aid in stabilizing the club head at impact or assisting with consistency of strike.

Now with all the various options with shafts it would be interesting to see if you tried a lighter stiffer shaft and see how it compared to your current club/shaft and if you saw any improvements.

Actually have a Stealth with the Tensei Blue out for delivery for testing right now. I hit the Ping about a month ago and it felt good, but certainly did not see that kind of distance increase.

... Like being in-between yardages with an iron, my swing speed is right around 95mph which is too low for 95-105 and too high for 85-95. Not sure what index has to do with swinging a driver because I play with much higher index players that hit it farther and straighter than I hit mine on off days. Having just been fit twice with Callaway and once with TaylorMade my Truegolffit recommendations were not what I hit well at all. Ventus Blue Regular and Smoke Red Stiff are two extremes that I did not hit well in my fittings.

Not sure if it would make a difference, but selecting expert mode you can say your exact swing speed and attack angle which can help I would imagine.

Which for me i think that is what this is suppose to do. At least for many of us. Give us a bit if a headstart on what could work for us and what to potentially try first in a fitting.

Great write up.  To pick up where we left off in the D9Forged thread.  I also have the Stealth driver.   But I can promise you it will be well well over 9 days before this become available!! It’s that good.

I knew going into this that it likely would recommended a driver I have or have tried…I mean come on right?

But actually 1st choice is not one I have tried.  But we do have it in the fitting cart.  So I’ll give it a try.  I have heard great things about it and the LS

Option 2 Is very close. I actually have the regular Stealth. I tried tbe HD and it was too much left.  But I am very happy with the Stealth.  So kudos to TGF

Not sure if it would make a difference, but selecting expert mode you can say your exact swing speed and attack angle which can help I would imagine.

Oh damn! I didn’t catch that before … did it again in Expert Mode and I’m feeling much better about my G410 SFT purchase. 🙌🏼

Haven’t had a chance to hit just yet, but I may just have to annoy the wife with a range visit on Easter.

I’ve hit that exact club and shaft a few times in the past and really liked it.

Haven’t tried option 1, but option 2 is my previous gamer. Neither touches my new Cobra LTDx LS, which is more accurate than the Ping LST, and longer than my old Calloway epic.

I got this. I’m a little surprised because I played the tsi2 for a brief stint and it launched too high even with a Ventus black 6tx in it. I was more successful with tsi3 and now current rogue Triple diamond has been so great for me this season. The shaft is playable, I have tried it but I prefer a stiffer TX in high 60s but have had good success previously with heavier driver shafts before this new trend of lighter to swing faster.

This was the result I had when the app was first launched.  It also recommended the PING Max, Mizuno ST-Z-220, and Srixon ZX-7 depending on AOA and swing tempo entries in "expert mode".  My fitting data has my AOA at -0.5 but this system only allows whole number changes. I feel I'm medium to medium-fast tempo - but what that really means... don't know.  Clearly this app is broken as it did not recommend the TM Stealth with the matching KBS TD shaft 🙂.
