... Ok after an emergency trip, because my GG rewards were expiring 🤪 to pick up 2 Dozen Maxfli Tour balls for $70 with $70 in rewards so FREE. I decided to test out my Electrify America FREE charging feature. Worked great so I was pleasantly surprised. I was down to 61% and charged to 95% in 20 minutes. I got to 80% within a few minutes but it slows down quite a bit after that. It showed my $8.40 cost was reduced to $0. So I am figuring in the future it should be around $15 to charge (if I were paying) from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes. 80% is good for about 200 miles so over 3 years I should be saving quite a bit with free charging.

... I had to stop at Costco and was tempted to drive by and wave to all those about 8 cars deep waiting in line for gas. 🤣

Mine is about 20 chf to charge up at a station. However because rent is all inclusive it is included at home.

The fast charge is great, but like you said from 80% on it is pretty slow. 20-80 is about the same time as 80-100.

... Good to know. Not that it matters that much because I will be sleeping but when I charge at home between 12m and 6am with a Level 2 Charger, do you know if it is the same slowdown from 80-100%?

Not sure if level 2 if the same as what we get here. I'm at 10.4 kw per hour and usually 4 hours is good for be at home.

I can't say I've really checked what the exact slow down is. However it hasn't really been an issue.

... Thanks. I think my JuiceBox 40 is 9.6 kw so it should be similar. Still trying to read everything I can and figure out how much to charge it. Lots of recommendations for 80% only, some for 90% and OK to go to 100% if getting ready for a trip. So much to learn!

Yes, it's the same. 80-100 just requires more energy to charge, regardless of speed. It's obviously going to be faster when you're doing L3 charging because the rate is quicker, but it will still take longer relative to 20-80

Treat it like your cell phone battery, but don't be a slave to it. Today's batteries are pretty good. If 80% is enough for a week, just charge to 80%, if you need 90% then go for it. After 10 years your degradation will probably be less than 20% and by then we'll probably be able to recycle batteries and get new ones installed without breaking the bank. Or you just live with the 50 miles of lost range.

Also, enjoy and get used to maintenance visits being only tire rotations and multi-point inspections ;). One of the underrated things about EVs -- no oil changes and fewer moving/serviceable parts.

Lol EV's are a problem in BC. Not enough electricity, Tesla not supporting heaters and people getting stuck on mountain passes, not enough supply. All fast charge stations here are very spread out and linked in series making them so slow. I'm waiting for Chevy to drop their Ecrate motor though so I can convert my old van! In it's current state though, I cant see EV being the future in Canada, especially with municipalities changing bylaws for service upgrades to the tune of $20k before you can charge your car

Ouch. It's going to be a while for Canada. Also because it is just so big.

Ordered a Tesla Model Y LR on 1/26 (at a big discount), was set to deliver end of March, but I cancelled. The current builds are without radar or USS and some features are missing as a result. Decided to wait for HW4 with new sensor package (more and higher res cameras and HD radar), may not come until year end. Already shipping on Model S/X so not vaporware, just a matter of when. I hate to wait and will buy a MY, but I just couldn’t ‘buy an iPhone 13 now that the 14 is out’ - especially spending $60K. YMMV

I picked up a gray M3 last Tuesday. I wanted a 3 and I wasn’t sure if my BatCaddy would fit in the back, so when I went for the test drive I took it with me to test fit. It did fit, easily.

... I kept my G80 for almost 6 years, by far the longest I have owned a car. 80% is fine for me unless I do some shopping. I use 5% for the 10 miles miles back and forth to the golf course so even going to the grocery store I am using a max of 40% in any given week. Summer will be a little more demanding as that courses is 24 miles back and forth.

... I continue to be silly impressed by my GV60. Driving is amazing of course but today I was heading to the PGA SS and heard the Lady Assistant say "Photo Inforced Speed Camera ahead. Speed limit 45 mph" and as a senior citizen that doesn't use my phone much I hear this when leaving the car "Phone left in charging device" so when I do need it, I won't be searching the house or my golf bag trying to find it. 🤪

... Also kinda interesting that I still have not seen another GV60 in Phoenix and mine turns many mens heads. Answering lots of questions in golf parking lots. But women seem oblivious to the GV60's charm.

My supervisor approached me this morning and told me that the supervisor over quality wanted to talk to me. He says that they're going to let me drive an I.D.4 for a week to check out and get my feedback on. I got to do this with the upgrade of the Passat a few years ago and I think it's cool they're letting me do it again.

I think it's pretty awesome they do things like that, it has a way of making us feel like hard work pays off. One of the best parts to me is it comes with a parking pass where I can actually park near the battery plant and don't have a long trek into the plant.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooo glad they ditched that ugly brown dash and interior side panels. I 100% would've considered an ID.4 if it weren't for stealership markups (for a car you order 100% online btw) and Tesla dropping the price of the MY $13k + $7500 tax credit.

Well....I thought they dropped the ugly brown because we didn't run one for a while. It's back with a vengeance. I think all the low end models that have the smaller battery are coming in the brown with the center trim having a bronze cast to it.🤮

Really enjoyed the change to ev. Would love a bit more range, but with summer tires going on shortly i think we will see a difference and warmer temps should also help.

It's not deal breaking, just needs to do a bit of extra planning on longer trips.

Really enjoyed the change to ev. Would love a bit more range, but with summer tires going on shortly i think we will see a difference and warmer temps should also help.

It's not deal breaking, just needs to do a bit of extra planning on longer trips.

Agreed - range is still an issue and traveling between big cities in the SE can be dicey, but infrastructure is always improving.

This is not a purchase, but a reward for years of good attendance.

It's also a lot more spacious than I expected. I build the cockpit and don't have a lot of time spent actually seeing the finished product.

I'm looking forward to having it the rest of the week and getting out and driving it around this weekend.

Recently purchased an EV (Mach-E, more on that below), but I really loved the ID.4. The reason I didn’t pull the trigger on it was timing, but it’s a GREAT EV. Kudos to you and the team!

2022 Mustang Mach-E owner here - had a close connection to a dealer in TN and was able to purchase my car from a buyer that backed out. Was incredibly lucky with timing and received the full tax credit (pre-2023 changes).

I was in the market for a new car for awhile (came from an old 4Runner with 200k+ miles) but feel this car is perfect for my need state (pure commuter car, but can fit two kids easily). Recognize we don’t have the best infrastructure yet, but driving this too and from work is a breeze (and have chargers at both stops).

Never been a ford / mustang fan, but this car is just different - really happy with it so far.

Wife’s Mach E that I get to keep clean. The car still has winter tires on it but when we swap over to the stock rubber, the car will have some sweet gloss black wheels put on.

Revisiting this as I am about a year into the electric car journey.

It's been a time and I can't see myself going back.

A week or so ago the car went in for a service... Well tire change and repaint of front bumper (scratch from prior to purchase).

For a demo I got a little car ... Normal non electric and I couldnt stand it.

The reaction to the throttle was so delayed, going through the gears was jerky and compared to electric terrible. Not to mention the auto off at lights and stops meant more head banging nonsense.

Was so happy go get my car back and even tho I do miss longer range ability having to not pay for gas, the smooth ride and quite nature of electric will be truly hard to ever come back from.

... Amen and right there with you. My summer course has brand new electric golf carts and after playing my winter course with a gas cart that was just like your auto experience, gas pedal lag and a few backfires with that nasty smell of gas I no longer want to ever experience. I am only on my 4th month with my GV60 (still haven't seen another one) but already so acclimated I could never go back to an ICE car. From ignoring the 10 car deep lines at Costco gas pumps to charging overnight with an inexpensive overnight utility plan to the dead quiet "engine"  and the instant acceleration even at 65mph that jumps to 85 in lightening speed and finally like you I really enjoy the amazingly smooth ride. If mine didn't have the Lighted Globe when off and Gear Shift when on I would still be thinking the car was turned off at a stop light or when I turn it on with zero feedback of any kind thinking I need to turn it on again.

... I had my first somewhat disappointing experience with my EV. Picked up a couple pair of Ecco Bioms for 30% off the sale price at the Premium Outlet and plugged in to the DC charger and my GV60 can go from 20-80% in 28 minutes under ideal conditions. But EV batteries don't like really high heat. It was 108* and in 28 minutes it only gained 10%. It took about 12% to get there and back home so I lost 2%. Looks like I will be charging overnight in my 'cooler' garage all summer. 🥵

I've been charging at home to avoid that.

Sucks that it happened for you that way. There is certainly more planning involved in having a electric which isn't a bad thing, but for sure is not for everyone.

With all these complaints about the heat in AZ, I'm surprised you still live there! 🤣

But seriously, I haven't had to use public chargers much, especially in my area where they really only offer the "slow" version.  Definitely agree with Jamie - home charging in a garage is the way to go!
