MarkCPA 43
I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the current buy two dozen, get another dozen free promotion from Srixon, specifically on the XV 7 ball. I did the same thing this time last year on the Z Star 7 (not the XV, but the black box ball) after some reading and research. The end result? I hated the ball. Very firm to me (if not downright hard) and a very low flight. Live and learn, right? Using several ball fitting sites and more reading, the XV 7 appears to be more along the lines of the ProV1x and TP5X which is more what I'm looking for in terms of trajectory and short game spin. I've read the review of the 2021 version of the XV7 here at MSG which was rather underwhelming, but I'm willing to try it if the feedback is right. I'm a single digit handicapper, need a higher trajectory, and expect some spin with my short irons and wedges. Thanks! DiscipleofPenick 4,207
If you didn't like the firmness of the regular Z, the XV is going to be firmer. I tried both when looking for a more affordable ball then the ProV, and chose the regular Z partly because of the firmness. I am interested in the new Diamond ball though. 1 Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5* Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: Titleist 714CB 4-PW Wedges: Vokey SM5 & SM6 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star

bens197 13,001
It’s definitely a firmer ball. MarkCPA 43
Good info above. Thanks! Given the compression of this ball is similar to the ProV1X and TP5X, I can't help but wonder what it is that makes the Srixon tour caliber balls feel so hard. In terms of compression, the regular Z-Star is softer than a ProV1. However, the cover is thinner and a lot of "feel" is actually sound, especially on less-than-full swings. The new Z-Star Diamond is going to be the same compression as the XV, both should be a touch firmer than the PV1x. If soft and spinny is what you want, check out the Bridgestone Tour BXS or the Taylormade TP5. Both are going to be lower-launching, so that might something worth keeping in mind. If you need high-launch, high-spin, and low-compression, you're quickly moving towards Kirkland territory, or maybe even Mizuno? 2 Quote Driver: RADspeed 9* with Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 60X Fun driver: ZX5 9.5* with 46.5" Tensei CK White 60S 3-wood: SIM 15* with Diamana Limited 75S 5-wood: RADspeed 18.5* with Motore X F3 60S 2i: ZX with SteelFiber i95 Stiff 4i-7i ZX7, 8i-PW Z-Forged, Modus3 Tour 120 S 50*, 54* RTX ZipCore Modus3 Tour 115 60* RTX Full Face ZipCore DG Spinner S400 Putter: HB Soft Premier 11s, Toulon Chicago Ball: Maxfli Tour, ProV1, TP5x, Left Dash Bag: Ltd Edition Tartan, blue/green/yellow Using to keep track of my shots and Fit for Golf Tested: D7 Forged 3i-PW, KBS Tour-V 110S - Official Review Blind Ball Test (Ball #3 vs Ball #4) - Unofficial Review V3 GPS Watch + Tags - Official Review
Handy 15
Check out the OnCore either the Vero1 or the 2022 Elixer. The Elixer is around the 90 compression. The new Elixer gives me a more consistent despersion, distance and spin onto green. You can get buy 2 get one right now. If you are a veteran you can get 20%discount. I do get few more yard with Vero1 but for the price and tour quality of the Elixer I use it.

bens197 13,001
Last week was the first round I put the XV back in play after playing through my leftover TP5s... In contrast, the check around the greens was obscene. I was getting the ball to check up from the first cut with a 60* and my stock low cut 50* pitch was a stop and E Brake moment on several holes. Considering how long this ball is, I am still in awe of how well it performs around the green. 3 Quote Titleist TSI3 LAGolf DJ 65 5 TaylorMade SIM2 3 wood Fujilkura Ventus Blue 7-X Mizuno HMB MP20 3i Nippon Modus 3 120S Mizuno Pro 223 4-P Nippon Modus 3 115X Vokey SM8 50, SM9 54 & 60 Nippon Modus 3 120s L.A.B. DiscipleofPenick 4,207
It's so weird, that I've only got the XV to back up on soft, dewey greens early in the morning, otherwise they hop forward about 10-15 feet from landing. When I play the regular Z (which is the gamer) on a good shot it always stops within a foot of the pitch. Srixon’s urethane covers are thermoplastic urethane (TPU) which tends to be harder than cast thermoset urethane which is what Titleist and Taylormade use. This is probably what you are feeling. 2 Quote 915D3 909F2 690.CB Vokey SM5 iWi D66
KC Golf 310
I really like the XV. Seems to keep my drives in the fairway from its lower ball spin. Putts feel good on par with a Pro V. it’s cheaper than Pro V and I am not seeing a huge difference, so it continues to stay in my bag. 1 Quote TSi 3 9.0 AV Raw White 65 Stiff TSi 3 15.0 AV Raw White 75 Stiff TS3 21 Hybrid Tensei AV Blue 65 HY Stiff U-510 19 Utility Iron HZDUS Smoke Black 6.0 Stiff Haywood 5-PW iron Signature - Recoil 780 ES F4 Stiff - Bent 2 deg flat 52 - 09 Tour Preferred EF - KBS Tour Wedge Haywood 56 - 12 KBS Tour Wedge 60 - 10 Tour Preferred - KBS Tour Wedge Scotty Special Select - Squareback 2 - 35 Z-Star XV Official Tester - 2021
