Warriors and Celtics in Espanol

... I have been learning Spanish with Duolingo and felt like I had a very rudimentary understanding de Espanol so I decided to test myself and watch the Warriors and Celtics on a Spanish station. It didn't take me long to understand what I was attempting was like graduating from Drivers Training and then with no qualifying runs entering the Indy 500 at the pole position. Back to the English broadcast because about the only word I recognized at that blazing announcer speed was "Steph Curry".

My wife has been learning Spanish via Duolingo for over 500 days now, I know this because she just showed that to me.  She wants to be able to speak and understand when she has Spanish children/families in her classes.  She is really good on the app, but when she listens to the Spanish podcasts they recommend for immersion, she gets lost after Hola!

The problem you guys are having is the diversity of accents and vocabulary each Spanish speaking country has.

Not sure where Duolingo takes its material from, but Spanish from Spain, México, Colombia, etc. will sound very different. 

You mentioned Dubs Celtics... in English you only have the word "ball". In Spanish you could call it bola, balón, pelota, etc. So I'm not surprised.

Probably similar to a person learning American English and taking a trip to Scotland. Good luck with that lol
