U.S. Open Championship - 2022

Our 3rd major of the year, the 122nd U.S Open.  This years event will be held at The Country Club in Brookline, MA. The field will be as strong as any all season long, and include at least 10 players who have either resigned or chosen to ignore the PGA's disciplinary warnings.  It will be interesting to see how the fans respond.  Jon Rahm returns to defend his title... man, was that ever a finish last year!  Let's hope this years contest is all of that and more.  Word has it that the rough conditions will be even more penalizing than St. George was this week... wowzah! 

Will we have B2B winners in succession?  Will Major Brooks show up?  Will Scheffler add to what has already been an out-of-body season? Who do you think will hoist the hardware?

I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday, curious to see the course conditions.  I hope the rumor on the rough is true, I’d like to see a Merion style open again.  We haven’t had a lot of rain the last few weeks in Eastern Mass, and the forecast this weeks looks pretty dry.  My home course is usually a swamp this time of the year and its bone dry.

It's a shame that you're going to miss seeing Phil .  Just kidding. That's great... just a few of us a little envious. Take some pics and share with us if you can .

Oh I definitely will be taking tons of them.  Being from this area TCC is my personal ultimate bucket course, the U.S. Amateur there in 2013 was a lot of fun.  Side note if you get a chance to go to a U.S. Amateur please do it, generally there are no ropes, a lot of access on some pretty exclusive courses.

Anyone on the forum a "body language" interpreter?  This will be a very interesting and entertaining week indeed.  What I'd pay to be a bug in the bags on the range .

Hmm, if I were a betting man, I would take the players to miss cut is greater than players that make the cut.  Also, with this being just a stones throw from Boston and well within driving distance of New Yorkers, how many times to you think these guys are going to be called out during the tournament by fans from those areas that were affected by 9/11?  Long memories in those areas and as much as they adored Phil at Baltusrol they can just as easily make his life miserable in Brookline.

It will definitely be interesting to see how it all plays out - both the actual golf and non-golf.  But yeah, the added negative sentiment most likely affects them in a negative manner.  OTOH, for some, it becomes a source of added motivation.  I'll take the large bucket, skip the butter, and a Dr. Pepper please.

He answered what was needed. If he had said anymore, it would give people more to talk about. I have always liked Phil and will continue to. Yes, he had made some mistakes, but so has the almighty TIGER!

Phil and Kevin Na finished T-33. I’d be shocked if they make the cut given the course conditions and the level of competition they are heading into. Not quite the lead in to a major after Phil’s extended time away.

Although it will be interesting to hear the cheers or jeers come Thursday.

USGA messed up  not putting Grayson Murray and Kevin Na in the same group. They are locker buddies however - could run cold or hot. But Na [a.k.a. Mr. Slow] is in a group with Sergio [Mr. Fine Whine] and Tyrell Hatton [Mr. Course Critic]. On an acid pH scale, this is "strip the bones clean in seconds", about a pH 2. It may go fine but if Na drags out putting or Sergio goes into vapor lock addressing the ball or getting a ruling; I can see Justifiable Homicide with a Golf Club pleas. 

On the LIV/cut side bet; I'll go with six making the cut, that's about all that's in form (and I'm not sure about jet setter DJ).

I was just thinking about this. I work from home and don’t have cable in my home office and have to rely on streaming which means getting the Peacock app and checking in on my iPad’s Verizon Fios app. Lots of hoops to jump through. The Masters app as worked pretty well and it’s available for the Apple TV. I just downloaded the U.S. Open app but it’s scaled for a phone rather than an iPad.

Yep. It's just unreal to me that they could screw this up so bad. At least Rounds 3 & 4 will mostly be on NBC broadcast.

Being rural and not willing to pay for the streaming, I must say that LIV via YT is looking better.  I wish all the majors were handled like The Masters.

I was just looking up the coverage options prior to my coming to read the forum.   I am in the same situation as you;  streaming in my office and can watch on my iPad, but that makes reading MGS harder.  Hate having to switch between multiple networks.

I just fired up the Peacock app and all US Open coverage is only available with a premium subscription.
