What are your other "passions"?

Recommended Posts

Now that winter has officially taken hold here, I've been concentrating on my other passions/hobbies. Besides my family, which is my number 1 passion/priority, I enjoy darts, bowling, and building "things". I'm not near as passionate about my other hobbies as I am about my golf, but bowling is probably second. I'm not a great bowler, carry a 190 average, but I do it competitively; I compete in about 4-5 tournaments per year in the midwest and I'm won a city championship in 2006, carrying a 231 average through the tournament. I haven't the past couple years, but I also you to throw darts competitively. I have a very creative mind, thats constantly firing on all cylinders, I can't stand to sit still for more than an hour without doing something productive or creative.

So, what are your other "passions"?

I'm a gamer as well (not that hardcore anymore). I used to be a hardcore World of Warcraft player for like 4 years, so glad I was able to quit that evil thing.

Just finished Skyrim and Batman AC. I'm playing Dota 2 and Battlefield 3 at the moment. On consoles I used to play Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Metal Gear and Grand Theft Auto (all of them) among others.

I also love singing karaoke

Tennis and basketball are my alternatives to golf (since you can practice them indoors during winter) and used to practice them regularly (competitively) during high school.

I almost put that on here as well, but it's been a while, so not really a passion anymore. We used to go to karaoke all the time before our first was born. I really enjoy it. I don't wanna say I'm good, but I'm a pretty decent singer. I sing lead in a garage band with some friends; we haven't played any real shows or anything, but we're pretty good. We sing/sang a lot of southern rock, like Skynyrd and such. We haven't got together since we've all had kids though.

With baby number 2 coming within the next two weeks, those days are long gone.

Other passions besides gollf...family is #1, as many have said. Beyond that I like music. I used to play guitar in a variety of bands. I like to read, everything from history, comics, philosophy, fiction, etc. I enjoy woodworking and paintball.

I guess kids do change your life completely. I still don't have any, but it's in the planning stage.

Man, I can sing for hours... longest streak was 6 hours  add in some alcohol and you got a healthy/fun night!

I also sang for a band (cause I didn't know any instruments :( )

I was a total hard core gamer, playing everything but EQ1 and EQ2 were my major before kids time sinks. Now I just play World of Tanks and I have Skyrim I have just started.

I ALSO LOVE TO KARAOKE!! Can't believe I forgot that. I love all kinds of music, sing badly, but I own every song I sing, making it seem and me seem, much better than I am!

I used to play guitar, but I quit when I broke my wrist. I tried picking it up again last year, because I thought it would be just like riding a bike..........it was not. When my daughter gets old enough, we are going to take lessons together (thats how I originally learned).

Thats the best kind of karaoke-er. There is a lady that sings up here and she is horrible, like I'd rather hear nails on a chalkboard horrible, but she gets so into every song. Last time we were up there she was singing some country power ballad and she dropped to her knees while she was singing; it was hilarious.

Not really a hobby, but I enjoy off-roading. Problem is, in NY there are very few legal places I can take my truck... Actually, other than a few very large mud puddles, I haven't done much in my Tacoma. Back when I had my Jeep I went to Paragon Offroad Park in PA before they closed...Love getting dirty...

Besides playing golf? Well, I like writing about golf. I like reading about golf. I like watching golf. I like working on golf clubs. I like thinking about golf. :P

Oh yeah, I like to read, shoot guns, go hunting, and go off roading in my Range Rover. I used to like to eat, but I have been on a diet for two months and have not had any food worth liking.

My uncle is really into off-roading, so you'd probably appreciate this, it's his new toy; 1979 K5 Blazer 4x4. Since this picture was taken (sorry, crappy cell phone pic), he has color matched the removable top, gave it a lift, and added spider gears (whatever that means). They ride down in the river bottoms where we grew up; I just go down and watch, while drinking a whole lot of beer.

Love it... I keep telling my son that when he is old enough (6 now) I am going to buy an older Blazer, Bronco, or Jeep and we are going on an off road adventure... He loves it...

I used to be huge into sports cars and Harley's and then I had kids. I have owned mostly Mustangs and had a 88 5.0 that my old man and I did a complete overhaul on, had a 2000 GT that I totalled in 2003 and a 2004 GT convertible that I sold when we found out baby number 2 was coming. I still have two Harleys that I ride about twice a year that I am considering selling as they are museum pieces at this point.

Mostly bird hunting so far, meant to get out for deer and elk this last year, but ran out of time and missed the draw.

Quail hunting is just a total blast.

Hoping this year to get out for at least deer (maybe Elk if I get lucky on the lottery, but odds are against me)

Remington 870 for the birds

I've got a .270 for the 4 legged creatures

Camp 9 for plunking around when my wife wants to go out and shoot stuff with me.

Just wish there were better hunting opportunities closer to home.

I could not figure out how to post a picture of my Range Rover, but my wife and I are planning on attending one of those Land Rover Rallys where we and a bunch of other Land Rovers go off roading for two or three days. Last year every one of the was scheduled for when I had a golf tournament and this year i may be out of the country during the spring event but we are still planning on it.

Tim, I am not a hunter, but would be happy to go hunting with you. My Dad owns 40+ acres on the Eastern Shore of VA, full of deer, 7 stands, turkeys and what ever else is running around there. He has pulled some huge Bucks from there.

I really do not know. This was the graveyard that my car was towed into and eventually declared a loss. I took this picture about an hour after the accident and was still in a bit of shock to say the least.
