Popular Post tommc23
@Golfspy_CG2 thanks for setting this up, I had an absolute blast this weekend. @Berg Ryman & @MDGolfHacker thanks for trying to keep us in line this weekend. Also thanks for doing what you guys did in place of Rob. I got there around 9pm Friday night after a busy day at work and the minute I got there I was greeted my everyone who was sitting in the living room. It was awesome putting names and faces to the screen names of guys that I’ve talked to on line for years. We sat in the high humidity and heat around the propane fire drinking beers and BSing Friday night. Immediately @Jwc5149 stood out for being the kind of smarta$$ that I enjoy bantering with. With there being plenty of things said that shall not be mentioned here all weekend I’m sure we made a few people blush but we definitely made people laugh. We stayed up but didn’t stay up super late hanging out and talking. Saturday it seemed like everyone woke up early and we started the day with some nice conversations on the back deck looking over the river. We all went to the range to warm up before the round and meet those who drove daily for their rounds. We all teed off and it was a slow round, but it was a busy day on the course. It was nice seeing other play whom I have never met before, even though I regularly golf with people I don’t know due to playing solo a lot. Playing with @EasyPutter, @cksurfdude, and @barryschwartz56 was a nice day I didn’t play particularly well but to me it was more about the experience than the golf. The round took just about 5 hours and I thought I was going to miss my fitting. I was the only one who did the iron fitting and it was nice to do something like that as I never did a fitting with just one brand. While I was doing my fitting the guys got to sit and enjoy the pulled pork I made and then we had guys come over and watch the fittings, which showed the comraderie of these guys. We went back to the house and immediately was asked about the fitting. @McGolf & @Jmikecpa were both shocked that I was fit for 4* up lie. We then proceeded to hang out talking to hours about everything and anything. As pictured we all did some putting as a group then also did the par 3 contest. While Jose and Chris went to the green with the guys from the other cottage I had asked Jim to look at my swing since we were talking about my 4* up possibly being a swing issue. He gave me some tips and I hit a few nice shots, which gave me hope. Jeff thank you for the taco dinner that we had before putting and doing the par 3 contest. Sunday we all awoke to some breakfast provided by @cnosil and his wife, it was delicious and much appreciated. We all cleaned out the cottage and everyone chipped in. With out vehicles packed we headed to the range to and I worked on what @McGolf told me to and @Jmikecpa checked in on me to make sure I was doing so and watched me swing a few times. Watching these guys on the range hit balls is impressive. The Sunday round was slightly better for me than Saturday but I was fighting being in my head with swing thoughts on the irons. Played with @cksurfdude, @MDGolfHacker& @Berg Ryman and it was a fun day. Playing two days with @cksurfdude was fun he put a few @Yellow Ball into the water and reeds, sorry chuck but that made me laugh a little. He did benefit from dropping his ball where I was on forced carries he would struggle with. My driving and 3w game was better Sunday than Saturday even though I ended up in some fairway bunkers from hitting it too far, I tried to avoid those but it happens. We had a good time and watched @MDGolfHacker have an up and down round but ended strong. I got my only birdie of the weekend on 18 Sunday, even though I scared the hole a few times on chips a few times. I did however have issues with the heat Sunday with a headache which got worse as the round went on, no matter how much water I drank. The whole weekend was a blast and I enjoyed it 100%, even with the 100* temps. I’m glad I didn’t walk with how I was dry heaving and having some heat related issues on my drive home. I do look forward to getting some rounds in with the guys I didn’t get to golf with this weekend. It was a pleasure meeting you all and I’m sorry if my dark humor offended anyone, I know Jeff didn’t get offended by it at all. It was an absolute pleasure and after a ton of water and some anti-nausea meds I feel human again. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend and I’m hoping that the tips Jamie and Jim gave me help and that some range time will get swing thoughts out of my head so I can just swing freely. I definitely hit better iron shots Sunday than Saturday and I thank Jim for that. Shapotomous, cksurfdude, Rickp and 9 others 1

Popular Post MDGolfHacker
I had to give it a day to sink in of all the thoughts I had about this trip (ok, ok, ok, I really just passed out when I got home - nothing like sleeping in your own bed ). It says a lot about this community when you get a bunch of random guys together and it feels like meeting long lost friends. Everyone that attended, I would say had a great time! I do want to give a shout out to the following people: @Golfspy_CG2 - without your thoughts and planning this never would of happened. We definitely missed having you there @Berg Ryman - thanks for being my second and keeping this group going in the right direction @cnosil - thanks for donating the hybrid, bag tag, divot tool, and keychains / also thanks MGS for the Wedges, puttout, and hats @tommc23 - the pulled pork was out of this world as were the home made pickles! I only wish we had gotten a chance to take a photo of it cooked before we devoured it like a pack of wild hyenas going in for the kill, LOL @Jwc5149 - the taco dinner was awesome - thanks for preparing it for all of us and thanks for making us all laugh throughout the weekend @McGolf - the stories you told and the equipment talk was priceless @EasyPutter - thanks for coming down. That was definitely the longest drive out of all of us (we're not counting @McGolf travel distance since he flew) @cksurfdude - Thanks for the beer! Enjoyed playing in the last tee time with you! @barryschwartz56 - Glad you were able to come out early and hang with us at the cottage. Definitely a round at Compass Pointe in the near future! @Jmikecpa - It was fun playing that first round together. I know, I know you shouldn't of watched the fly over videos . You'll blow away the river course next time! I do have to say, I was watching you swing and something clicked on what I was doing wrong in my own swing. This allowed me to shoot a 2 over 38 for the first 9 holes on Sunday before I got distracted on the last 9 holes, LOL @Getoffmylawn - dude, you've got game! Enjoyed hanging out at the cottage! @Shapotomous - I'm renaming your screen name - Mr. Consistent! I'll have to relay this little story. Bob hit a drive and as we're driving up to his ball, his ball was nestled in a fairly sizable divot. He calmly walks up to it, hits it like it was nothing and puts it I think about 5' from the pin! Drains the putt for what I think was the second birdie for him for the day. Awesome playing the round with you Bob! That's all I have for now, but I'm sure I have few more stories to tell! MDGolfHacker
I also forgot to mention, shout out to Queenstown. The place we stayed out was just awesome and the views spectacular. The river course is in great condition. The lakes course is not bad either but had some places where the condition was less than ideal. @cnosil and I talked about it briefly after Sunday's round. @Jmikecpa thanks to this trip has now figured out how to play off of a patch of moss that makes you feel like you are standing on quicksand. cksurfdude
Hey Rob, all - do have some thoughts for next time, and will probably post here and there as they pop into my head, but first one is... If it's another Summertime event then would suggest a location a little further North, maybe even a little more inland, where it's waaaay less humid. The heat is one thing but I know for myself and a few others the high humidity kinda wore us out. Possibly mid-/southern Jersey? Or Eastern PA?
