In the world of golf, there really is nothing better than destination/vacation golf … especially if the course is being played for the first time. I love it and have gotten spoiled by it, and to the point that I get bored at times with the same local courses.

Going to throw in two Mike Strantz courses with Tobacco Road and Tott Hill in NC as a possible next MGS golf trip.

I also forgot to mention, shout out to Queenstown.  The place we stayed out was just awesome and the views spectacular.  The river course is in great condition. The lakes course is not bad either but had some places where the condition was less than ideal.  @cnosil and I talked about it briefly after Sunday's round. @Jmikecpa is still trying to figure out what kind of grass they used just right off the fairway.  It swallowed all but the top of your ball, LOL

In fairness I was not trying to figure out the grass just how to play out of it.  Thanks to this trip I now know how to play off of a patch of moss that makes you feel like you are standing on quicksand.

Connecticut has a couple casinos that both have courses, easy stay and play packages there. Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, both fantastic golf

Yes cape cod would be tough in the summer and not sure about mid Atlantic. Connecticut popped up after the “destination” talk, that’s one place always a topic for us in weekend getaways

i am lucky if there is anything north of NC happening it’s an easy drive. Even Ohio isn’t a bad cruise

So Chuck, it is part of the New England region in the Introduce Yourself thread, but here's the advantage as I see it of having people like myself, you, and @EasyPutter go to this one. We can help with logistics and word of mouth for the NE group if we want to do something a bit closer to home and allowing for those who don't want a full day of travel.

That's the real benefit of this thread and it's engagement, this trip was proof of concept to everyone else, outside of our PNW meet-up crew who have done this, that it can be done, that it is hellaciously fun and enjoyable and nothing to fear.

Besides the memories all 12 of us have, that is my hope from this event, that it is a mere building block to more regional events organized by different people.

Since we’re all dropping ideas in here, Nemacolin in Farmington PA looks legit.  I’ve never been but want to.  Stay and play with cottages and two Pete Dye courses.

https://www.nemacolin.com/golf/

Throwing this one out there strictly to add to the pool of ideas…I’m in wherever the next one is.

OK at the risk of being boringly repetitive...

THANK YOU!!! @Golfspy_CG2, @MDGolfHacker, @Berg Ryman for all your time and efforts in setting this up and making it work out so well! Awesome golf trip! 👍👍

THANK YOU!! @tommc23, @Jwc5149 and @cnosil for bringing in such very delicious food!

THANK YOU!! again to the really good players who took time to explain to me what I'm doing so so soooo very wrong in my golf swing, and to those who offered kind words and encouragement out on the course!

..speaking of which, it looks like the tally of ummm "temporarily misplaced" 😉 golf balls is right about an even dozen over the two rounds. Seemed and felt like a whole lot more but I brought down four dozen and came home with three dozen (not counting the Most Golf Balls Lost prize I "won" 😁 and one sleeve of MaxFli I gave to Barry to try out at his home course).

---

Separately... you guys missed out a great amenity of the clubhouse - the shower! Man did that feel good after play on Sunday .. which felt more humid to me vs Saturday .. that plus clean, dry clothes before getting into the car for the drive home (which wasn't all too bad, actually - 5 1/2 hours with only bad traffic thru one expected stretch and includes two short pit stops and one extended break just to get out of the car for a while).

I know the Ohio guys do something yearly, I want to go to that one year if I get the chance. If the drive is decent in the NE area I may drive to that as well.

Since we’re all dropping ideas in here, Nemacolin in Farmington PA looks legit.  I’ve never been but want to.  Stay and play with cottages and two Pete Dye courses.

Throwing this one out there strictly to add to the pool of ideas…I’m in wherever the next one is.

Wow that looks nice, queens town was actually closer for me than one in PA.

That is another one that has floated around on my mind.

Ha. Cool. I wondered if anyone made use of the shower.  But felt it was an odd question to ask.  😂

I went up for the Ohio outing I think 4 years ago.  It might be even have been their first one, maybe 2nd.   We only played one round but went out for some extraordinary pizza afterwards.

So, perhaps it’s time I offer my own quick summary/synopsis of this past outing.  Much has already been said so I won’t regurgitate everything, but it’s not an understatement to say it was truly a phenomenal weekend.

So, if you’re like me, a concern you might have in the back of your mind is “I know these guys, but only online, so I don’t actually know them at all and this could turn out to be no fun at all.”  I can tell you it took almost no time for the whole crew to hit it off like old friends, which in a weird 21st century kinda way, we are.  It was great food (thank you Tom and Jeff),  great company, great golf, great shenanigans (playing closest to the pin on our own backyard par 3 was a blast)….GREAT weekend.

And as a guy who struggled mightily on the course, I can tell you…nobody cares.  Of course we all want to play well, but getting hung up on your scores is easy to avoid when you’re among great company.

I truly hope this, and more events like it, continue and pop up across spy country.

EDIT:  Oh, and one other thing, @cnosilhas totally been sandbagging all of us on his calves game!  Calves like Phil, and he doesn’t run, lift…in his words “I don’t do anything” yet he’s never said a word about it hear on the forum!

- I'm renaming your screen name - Mr. Consistent!

To paraphrase an old election debate....

I have met Mr. Consistent, I played golf with Mr. Consistent on Sunday and I can definitely say I am not worthy to be called Mr. Consistent while @cnosil is in the group!
