I would like to see one or two more offerings in light weight (50 to 75g) graphite for us old farts.

Have you even looked? I can think of 3 companies off the top of my head that have them. UST, Project X and Mitsubishi. Other that iirc have them are graphite design, fujikura and kbs

I have a Fitting Monday morning for the JPX923 HM.  I saw the heads today and once again an impressive looking iron from Mizuno.
Im disappointed that the HL is not available in Left Hand now and may not be ever.  I’ll give the HM a test especially the lighter weight graphite shafts available.

A funny thing happened yesterday… Hot Metal Pro 5-GW, DG S300, +1”, 1* up were ordered by this guy after an impromptu fitting. Yep. Crazy. Long, long story, but I went-in to finish a fitting for another set of irons, didn’t have a shaft in the fitting cart, started trying shafts in the Mizuno heads, and before you know it I’m making an INSANE deal for HMP!!!!

Yeah. But I said that was my impression without hitting them based on word of mouth.  When o actually hit them I found they see very playable if you stay in your weight range.

not sure about the old tech.  But maybe there’s newer tech out I haven’t seen or heard of.   I know none of the new shaft oir rep showed us have anything new and revolution. Pretty much stock graphite or stock steels.

His words, not mine. I've played Recoil shafts 2 of my last 2 sets before these and they're a good fit for me.

However, the new Dart WILL be getting a trial run in a D7 Forged 8 iron head (Wilson screwed up during that test and sent me the wrong flex in that club) and possibly go into the entire 923 and wedge set.

Going to be waiting to test out the 932 line until early next year. Going through lessons to make swing changes and I’m back on my lifting program. Had a trackman session and I’ve lost about 5mph over the last year from cutting back on strength training. Going to piece everything together before getting some new sticks

HMP is pretty close, but forgiving. If you've seen TXG's visit with Mizuno's designer (can't remember his name) of the clubs, they talk about retaining spin with HMP that wasn't there in the original iteration, and is an issue with these "hot" clubs. P790 was like that for me in testing, no spin. Spin was REALLY good for me with the 923 HMP, I was able to keep peak height right at 100, and then I got the advantages of dispersion and ball speed gains. Did I need ball speed, per se? No, I hit the ball long enough, but the consistency of that ball speed due to the ridiculous number of center face strikes was a great advantage. I can adjust what club I need to hit for the added distance, but if I can have a CONSISTENT distance through the help of strike location and increased spin, reducing flyers and "hot shots", it's really hard to turn that down. I need help with forgiveness from irons, so these fit that bill and give me a lot more!

Not in our case,it rarely comes up. We get recoil a lot.  I actually like the feel of it, it fits my aggressive transition which quickly becomes "moderate" speed 🙂

It’s why hitting the shafts are a must and even more so a fitting. The tool is a starting point to narrow down potential shafts.

Don't want to get off topic too much here, but I laughed a little when I read this because to me the SteelFibers are very smooth and feel quite lively. The Recoil I have feels much more dead to me.

That being said, when I was on the optimizer a few years back with an 85 MPH 7 iron the top three choices were SteelFiber i110, KBS Tour Regular and KBS C-Taper Lite Stiff. So maybe there is something to SteelFibers showing up quite often...

For me, i don't load shafts very hard because my transition is slow so that is why Steelfibers in Stiff feel a bit boardy to me.

I should know better than try out an iron and think I wouldn’t buy them.
We went thru the Mizuno Optimizer and his other fitting equipment 1/2 of which I had very little knowledge except watch the screen and the computer reading.  We went they the different heads and the HM gave best results also the recoil shaft gave best numbers. The recoil ended up with is 59gr, a little lighter than I have now.
Hitting it side by side with the G710 could see a height difference, slight distance improvement and baby draw.  Haven’t seen that draw in a while!
Delivery 10/13, that seems awful quick.
Going to trade the G710 since I’m moving to a lighter shaft.

BTW, couldn’t try the HL not available in LH.

You Folks are a way over my Head!! Got my 921 Hot Metal Pro Irons just over a Year ago. Got to say I'm just starting to feel comfortable with the Carry/Roll yardage I'm getting. So much so that feel they are helping me to WIN $$ off the Sandbaggers that I play wit, who for some reason have suggested I move on!!

Simply; I'm playing better & I'm Happier!! Think I'll keep the 921's a couple of more years; then maybe....................

2 set of JPX, the first is going up for sale though before trying. I ordered before getting fitted because I got too excited by the pre-release.

This is actually the third AF lol (not all owned at one time though).

For a few reasons... one of which I'm really wanting to test the forged and tour model, I think I will wait until they are released before thinking about ANOTHER set of irons.  Of course, I say that today... tomorrow I may walk by the HMP's in the store and then all bets are off .  haha.
