Check your adjustable hosels

Recommended Posts

I've been going through some lessons that have resulted in some distance gains, so the gapping on my fairway woods is off. I plan to play around with the loft settings to see if I can get the gaps where I want. I haven't touched the hosel adjustments in at least two years. I found that for every single one (four woods that are usually in the bag, two back ups) the hosel screw was not sufficiently torqued. One was even loose enough to turn by hand. I'm fairly persnickety about keeping my equipment up (cleaning, grips, etc.), I'll have to add checking screw torque to that list.

I have been in the habit of checking mine about once a month, just because a friend with the Epic Max LS heard a rattle when we were on the course one day - it was due the the screw being loose.

I had a similar thing happen with my former Titleist driver. I could feel the sleeve move vertically when I swung. Felt like the head was gonna come off at any time. Thankfully it was a defect and Titleist sent me a new head no charge.

We are still looking for one of my playing partners Titleist heads (917 D2) that flew into a "environmental" area of our course when the head flew off... exactly that cause.  He upgraded to the TSi2 and is very happy now... not as much could be said about the day it happened.  good PSA for us all @Siamese Moose

I know a guy at our course with an Epic Max LS and he has a screw loose.  It's strange that when I am around him, I never hear a rattle.  🤣
