GolfSpy_APH
I made a little experiment on the weekend trying to prerust or color the clubs. It worked out okay... not the best not the worst. Unfortunately Hydrogen Peroxide is crazy expensive here and only available in pharmacys so this will be likely my only go at trying this. It was really cool to see the near instant rust or coloration on the club. I think you have to really leave it and let it wait for a long period of time to have a better lasting effect. However I did get a pretty cool result and I'll post some more photos later on. Also Wednesday I have an appointment at the local shop to hop on their GC Quad to get some number and really see what they are like. I'm really looking forward to this and hope to get to the range a little later on today to work on some swing things which have kinda been plaguing me. Another round also booked for Thursday at a beautiful 9 hole course (of course more photos there) and maybe a round tomorrow weather depending. sirchunksalot, Shapotomous, GolfSub70 and 6 others 7 2 Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! Shapotomous
Those irons look fantastic. I have played raw wedges for as long as I can remember (over 30 years so my memory isn't THAT bad yet! ) because I like the duller finish, however I don't particularly like the rust showing up on the heads, especially the face. For those that share that preference, I have found that wiping them down with Fluid Film keeps them from getting any rust on them for months at a time. During the playing months I might need to do it once midseason and I use a dry towel to thoroughly rub off the excess so there is no slippery stuff on the face to impact contact. For winter time storage when I play a lot less and maybe never in Jan & Feb I don't use the dry towel. sirchunksalot, GolfSpy_APH, GolfSpy_SHARK and 3 others 6 Quote Modern Bag: G410 LST 10.5*, Hzrdus Smoke RDX 6.5 Flex; 915F 3w, Diamana S+ 70 S flex; Snake Eyes 18* 2h, 23* 4h & 27* 5h; JPX 900 Forged 6 - PW, PX LZ 6.0; Edison 2.0 49*, 53*, 57* KBS Tour 120 S; Heppler Fetch; Ball - MTB-X; Bag - Jones MyGolfSpy Edition! GolfSpy_APH
I cleaned them up a bit today and it's pretty clear the quick rust method is very temporary and surface level. However the faces are a much duller color compared to when new. I would love for them to be that orangy red color but will take the long term approach with them now. So I'll say this is a trend when I've received new irons is I struggle enormously with toe strikes. Like missing the grooves toe strikes. Thankfully as the more practice has come along the strikes are getting much better. Also keep in mind these blade lengths are much much shorter then the i210 I had/have. Forgiveness is okay. Certainly more punishing then the i210, but the feel is so much greater that it really allows you to feel where you are striking the ball with each hit. The center/near center strikes feel phenomenal and so solid. I wouldn't say super soft... soft, but really solid and powerful which is a fun feeling. I'll have more to report once I get my swing into gear and actually find that consistency I'm looking for. In all seriousness though I maybe should have gone CB based on how my game is, but know I have the iron potential for the TC. Today was a much better day overall. Had a string of pars, a birdie and the bad holes were nothing to do with the irons, but my driver. I keep coming back to how good they feel. I know I said it before, but they don't feel super soft to me, but a powerful solid feeling. The best I have been hitting them has been the most recent week and after the gapping/numbers session and truly knowing my numbers more spot on has certainly helped a lot as well. I have zero regrets and am really happy with how they perform. Maybe if I had the chance to hit them all in person I would have gone for some split set combo, but I didn't have that option and there is nothing wrong with them.
