An 8º TSR3 with an LA Golf DJ Signature Series (65-4) shaft won my fitting session last week. Can't wait.

Which other shafts did you compete with?  My fitting came down to the TR Blue and the DJ (HZRDUS blue wasn't awful but not as good) I ended up loving the DJ series for several reasons...it's nice to see others having similar success.

TR Blue was a good fit for me, just not quite as good as the DJ. The HZRDUS Smoke Green RDX was in consideration too.

Jumping into this after not really participating much, I was looking for the reputable and well-established YouTube personalities to offer their thoughts on the TSR line.

Here is my take...

The TSR2 is IMO, the closest thing to a SIM Max.  The better player's, more forgiving club.

As far as gains and distance / speed, from what I am watching, the biggest gains are still from people who are being properly fit and dialed in from their current driver.

I feel less anxiety about "missing out" on the TSR line when considering I bought mine less than 1 month before they were released.

I haven’t watched any videos and probably won’t but based on what was posted on the op and reading thru the design changes I wouldn’t be surprised if golfers who were fit for their current driver see an improvement in launch characteristics, especially those who have a swing that creates higher spin. Getting the cg lower and forward would help those and those.

In the videos has anyone seen changes in launch angle, spin, peak height and/or descent angle? What about are deviation?

We know that swing speed increase doesn't guarantee increase in ball speed but there were some interesting ball speed increases seen by the pros when it was brought on tour and those guys were already in optimized setups.

The shaft selections I’ve found interesting. They brought in the xlink version of the Mitsubishi shaft while keeping the av raw line. Adding the tensei 1k black as no upcharge while the Aldila rogue white 130 is an upcharge.

Also interceding that the smoke rdx blue is a $30 upgrade but the black is no upcharge.

I am well aware I could get dragged for this take so I’ll just base it on my own personal experience.

The most significant improvement I’ve seen YoY has been the forgiveness on mis-hits. There are a lot of people who will be a better result when they can miss it better, more often across the face.

Taking that and complementing it with the ability to focus mass can and certainly will offer better results for some but not all.

I’m about 3 hours away from Carlsbad and wondering if a mere mortal can get a custom fitting there, or do they farm that out to club champion etc…

I love my Mavrik on its stock Riptide stiff shaft, and it wasn’t “fit”to me. I’ve been “cool” on Titleist drivers for quite some time, but this one is interesting. I’d probably fit into the tsr2 as I utilize a lot of the face.

It’s open to be public (for a cost) I mean they let me through the magic gates after all.  Ha

Seriously, the fittings there are worth the drive and the price   You are getting some of the best in the business   You are hitting on a pristine teeing area and using ProV or ProVX

Which brings up an interesting and valid side story.  The fitters told me they hand had some senior players come through who had swing speeds in the 70’s and 80’s and we’re concerned they didn’t have the swing speed for ProV—which irritates me all the time when I hear that—but when they saw their results they were shocked,

As much as I enjoyed my driver and iron fitting there.  It was the wedge fitting that to me was the most fun and I leaned a lot from.

Had an opportunity to hit the TSR3 today.  This was part of one of MGSs lab test series so it wasn’t fit, it was just hat it was.  Compared to what I remember from this seasons most wanted testing and the other drivers in the test,it wasn’t really any  faster than the other drivers.  I was in the 100-105 speed range with ball speeds around 150.  Basically nothing earth shattering but wasn’t seeing increased swing speed or ball speed.  Still want to hit the other models and shafts, but not sure it will beat out the G400.

Yeah. I would say tbe 3 is the worst of the 3 models to hit without the proper shaft or fit.  It has the smallest deer spot of the 3 and doesn’t have the VFT that the 2 and 4 have to help retain speed on off center hits.

Not suggesting by any means that you were hitting off center shots 😬

I wasn't hitting perfectly centered shots;  I tend to hit high on driver face.     While it was Phillip's driver, he pulled the shaft for something more generic but he thinks his actual setup might be a good fit for me so I will probably try it one day.   Just had to hit what was available based on the lab test they were running.

... If the 3 works for you that is awesome. 👍  It will clearly be the most used on the PGA Tour but I imagine the LPGA and Champs will lean toward the TSR2. For those of us that can use the forgiveness, instead of putting the 2 next to the 3, put the TSR2 next to the TSi2 and the difference is jaw dropping. Can't wait to hit it on a demo day.

Is the 2 similar to the Rogue max ? I just haven’t had the chance to see a TSR yet

Sam I’ll be honest and say that I couldn’t be happier with the TSI3. The way it’s been dialed in has given me so much confidence that I am truly satisfied. Chasing additional yards sounds appealing however…and a big however…I’m not playing competitive golf any longer. Most of my rounds are from tees between 6600 and 7000 yards and that’s manageable with what I have.

I’ll still look but this time it’ll just be a look. That I can say with confidence.

First "official" outing with the TSR3 last night.  9 holes, course to myself, 7 of 7 fairways, 5-10 yards longer average than my TSi3 (small sample size - though several of the holes were playing into a noticeable head wind).  It feels good.  It just feels good. I didn't try to swing from my heels... just nice tempo drives down the middle of the fairway - one after the other.
