Millennial's and GenZ's

... Some Boomers love to talk about these generations and how lame they are. I was at a Sprouts (like Whole Foods) today and a young Hispanic woman with 3 kids about 10, 7 and 4 so a handful, was trying to get $10 back and her debit or credit card would not OK the cash. So John the cashier maybe mid to late 20's pulls out his wallet with a $20 and a $10 in it and gives the lady the $10. Clearly she needed it because she just blushed and said "thank you so much". I asked him if that comes out of his pocket or the will the store reimburse him and he said the store will not reimburse him but it just seemed like the right thing to do. After paying with my credit card I asked him if he could give me two $10's for a $20 and then gave him back his $10 and told him I would pay for the lady. Now he blushed and said "thank you" to which I replied "No thank you because I can spare it but have a feeling you can't so that was very generous on your part". 

... So win-win-win as John and I get to split the Karma credit, the lady gets $10 she needed for her kids but most importantly John gave me some ammunition next time I hear a Boomer complain about the GenZ/Millennial generations and how lame they are.

I’m 34 and with how we were raised outside before computers were super popular and we had just ok video games. Things have changed pretty drastically in our generation

Tom can likely confirm that millennials are easy targets in our line of work. You cannot attend a large trade show or conference without hearing an instructor belittle millennials.

As an officer, I want the millennial firefighters. They ask a ton of questions, they want feedback and they are coachable.

I have the joy of working with multiple generations nearly every day sometimes all at once.  In my day I can be hugged by a 2 year old coming out of chapel, teach a 3rd grade class and then have a Bible Study where I’m the baby at 65 - there are 3 90 something’s in that class including a WW 2 vet. 

 

Each generation certainly has its tendencies some of which are delightful, some not as much. I love them all. I’m a person who revels in differences though.

Great story, both did the right thing.

Im 34, my brothers 30 and 26….all on how you’re raised in the end. Can find schmucks in all generations.
