Bossfan
I have an Optishot. Why. I was planning on a Skytrack but when the basement was finished the space I had for it was tighter than I envisioned. I was a worried about water pipes in the ceiling were too close and furnace and water heater might come into to play. Foam balls seemed necessary. Skytrack seemed kind of expensive to not get very accurate readings with foam balls. Like, information it does give has been helpful. With some work it can simulate your game. Comes with 15 course and driving range. Reads irons really well. Helps me get some golf in during the winter. Dislike, fat shots seem to be penalized but probably not as much as the should be. You get away with thin shots. No launch angle. Having to tape up drivers and woods. Taping works but it’s a pain to tape and untape during the season to get in some at home practice with your gamers. Overall pretty happy with it. I did my research so I knew the strengths and weaknesses. If something comes along that is really works well with foam balls I will definitely look into it. For now I’m good with my Optishot. ncwoz, vandyland, GolfSpy_APH and 4 others 6 1 Quote D- Tour Edge EXS 220 4W- Sub 70 949X Hybrid- Sub 70 949X Utility- Sub 70 699 U 21 degree Irons- Sub 70 749 5-PW Wedges- Sub 70 286 50+54, Tour Edge 1 out 58 degree Putter- Cleveland Huntington Beach soft # 11 Ball- Titleist Tour Soft
ncwoz
Nice set up! I'm (hopefully) in the early setup stages myself, but it's gonna be a slow burn getting everything gathered and assembled for me. Have a spornia net and some supplies to make a hitting platform, but still need to get that fabbed up. Sim is likely the last piece of my puzzle, and might be a year or two away once I get the rest of the garage ready. sirchunksalot 1 Quote Right Handed Driver: 9° Speedzone (HZRDUS Smoke Green 70g X-Stiff shaft) 2 Hybrid: 18° Exotics EXS Pro (Evenflow Black 6.5) (2020 MGS Official Review here) 3/Driving Iron: 18° UiHi Iron (MMT Utility TX 105g shaft) Irons: 4-GW T100 irons (Nippon Modus 120 X-Stiff shafts) (2021 MGS Official Review here) Wedges: 54° & 58° TSW Forged (Dynamic Gold S300) Putter: ER2B (2019 MGS Official Review here) Ball: MAXFLI Tour X Bag: Hoofer Lite WITB thread here
Tom the Golf Nut
I've posted this in another thread but here you go. I have the Optishot2. I can play 10 months out of the year so I couldn't justify the expense of a better system for using it only two months. I rather be outside playing. I'm also a member at a private club so you can get unlimited play. The Optishot2 has its limitations on ball data. But luckily I won a Flight Scope Mevo. So between the two systems I get all the data I need at the same time. Even if you had to pay for both it is still less expensive then the other systems out there. One thing to note, the Mevo will not pick up foam balls. Even with the metallic stickers, it doesn't work. So if I want spin, carry and such I hit real balls. If I just want to play 18 or hit the range, I set the Optishot2 for foam balls. To keep cost down, my screen is a three layer system. First there is a net. Tight to prevent a ball from going to far and taking out a garage window. Then a canvas drop cloth to stop the ball from springing back at me. Then a white king size sheet to get a good image from the projector. If the screen gets dirty a quick take down and into the washing machine. I also have a 10 foot putting matt (not shown). Also important was to put black material on the garage windows to keep the light off the back of the screen. Klotski
I like both of your hybrid setups! I have been planning a setup to faceoff the Optishot/Garmin and Skytrak/Mevo+ units for comparison when I find the space. What stance mats are you both using in these photos? I am also glad to see people enjoying the Optishot unit despite it's inherent limitations versus other true launch monitors. Do either of you have any interest in the upcoming Optishot Orbit? Also, you both should check out the Replishot project on Github (https://github.com/zaren171/RepliShot). This app connects the Optishot to the arcade version of TGC 2019 (which I recently saw on Steam for $12.50) for an alternative to the Optishot software. Nick_D
I started with Flightscope Mevo Plus when they originally came out a couple years ago. It was great for a while and once I started using GSPro and playing in online tournaments I finally upgraded to a Bushnell Launch Pro. It was worth every penny, the short chipping and actually being able to putt was a game changer (Pun intended for those who have a BLP and use GSPro). My setup has been a slow, constant upgrade after upgrade. I'm pretty happy with how it is now. The wife has graciously allowed me to take up the entire third stall of our garage. The only downside to the BLP is the yearly software subscription, but that's pretty consistent with everything else these days.. cnosil 1 Quote Link to What's in My Bag Post - ST-Z 220 Driver - LTDx 3 Wood - Mavrik 4 & 5 hybrids - Pro 225 Irons - SM9 50, 54, 58 degree - Teryllium Longneck Newport 2 Nick_D's Putter Projects - RB Tour X Ball Link to BirdieBall 2-in-1 Putting/Hitting Mat 2023 Forum Review
knightsofnii
I have the Optishot2. No pics because I don't use it. I tried many tips, tricks, tapes, and could never get it to work to my liking. Skytrak + just dropped, and Bushnell Launch Pro just had a price drop. I'm considering one of those. The bushnell can be run with GS Pro software, with some tweaks, which brings it into Skytrak Plus range. Just hoping to see some comparisons between the 2 before I make a choice. I had a lesson using the Bushnell, and it seems to work just as well as a GC Quad, minus some data points, but it provides enough IMO. GSPro was working on officially integrating with foresight/bushnell but there is some lawsuit going on so they put it on hold. Rumor is that once they are integrated you will need the Gold subscription. I personally haven't used the foresight/bushnell software even once, GSPro is just that good in my opinion. knightsofnii 1 Quote Link to What's in My Bag Post - ST-Z 220 Driver - LTDx 3 Wood - Mavrik 4 & 5 hybrids - Pro 225 Irons - SM9 50, 54, 58 degree - Teryllium Longneck Newport 2 Nick_D's Putter Projects - RB Tour X Ball Link to BirdieBall 2-in-1 Putting/Hitting Mat 2023 Forum Review
HD407
Has anyone used the Golfguru 'pro' hitting mat from Amazon? I've been using for a few weeks now and at $144 it feels like killer value, but I don't have much to compare to. Only downside is I have to re-center it after 10-15 swings depending on how steep I'm getting that day. Also have extensive time on a Full Swing commercial build (seems to be around 10 yrs old now) and the hitting mat there appears only fractionally better - I've pulled it apart and the foam seems comparable. Wondering if anyone here has dove deep into hitting mats and has experience with premium options as a player with a decently shallow swing. Was well worth the extra money and has held up exceptionally well. I do think you get better durability and comfort from the premium options. I had an amazon mat for a couple months at the beginning of my sim journey and developed back and elbow issues (I was in my early twenties) so I went premium pretty early on and did not look back.
