That is over simplifying it a bit, but hopefully that helps.

Hah! I was thinking the same thing - I've got a couple of very long par-5s coming up on Friday, and apparently can often be wind-assisted.  Here's hoping I get a cart path and maybe hard-pan and the wind and hit the drive of my life and maybe use a juiced ball.  I could get it ... 2/3 of that distance.

I see what you are saying Kenny, what I meant was equivalent relative difficulty, not identical slope and rating.  In VERY general and hypothetical terms, a player should score two shots lower on a par 70 course, than a par 72 - but that is without accounting for the slope and rating... 

I didn't mean be confusing in my "simple" example... it only caused more questions... I apologize.  

Bottom line is - use the slope and rating calculation and it adjusts for the inherent difficulty at a given course.  Thanks again for being the voice of reason Kenny

I don’t see anything either. When you said about posting the two links in Red at the top before I thought I was being stupid not seeing anything, have tried on different web browser as well as thought it could have been an Apple issue with safari etc but same on chrome….

My course was wide open this afternoon and made it around in less than 3 hours... 

Willow Fork Country Club / Back Tees / Course Handicap = 5 / Score = 74 / Net Score = 69 / Net score to par = -3 / Net Birdies or Better 4 / Longest Drive 266 (downwind  ). 

My three natural birdies were all on "pop" holes, so I had one net birdie and three net eagles.  Hole # 9 should be the #1 handicap hole... that beast eats my lunch more often than not!

Managed to get out on the course a bit rough after COVID and a wrist injury made for a pretty atrocious round. 

Birchwood Park Golf & Country Club / Yellow Tee's / Course Handicap 24 / Score 98 / Net Score 74 / Net Score to par = +3 / Net Birdies or Better 4 / Longest Drive 299 (One of only 2 fairway's hit, missed a golden opportunity on the 3rd 344 playing around 300)

Hopefully will have a better showing next week, only saving grace is not been on a course and just on the sim recently so the Handicap came in as a saviour......looks like much more time on the sim needed to get used to the new bag full I have)

This is cool, Thanks for setting this up. Not sure I'll be able to post every week but I'll do my best.  I have a round this Saturday at the Reserve Vineyards I think the South course. I've never played the souths so it should be fun. Weather wise will be a crap shoot as we hit the menstrual cycle for Mother Nature in our area. 

I use The Grint and hopefully I can figure out how to post the card on here.

Shot an 80 / Course Handicap of 8 / Gross +8 / Net 0 / Five net birdies (which doesn't make me feel good that I'm losing strokes on the easier holes) / LD 253

What a weird round. Was due to tee off at 8, but was raining and forecast/radar showed that it would clear up by 9:45 so I asked to be pushed back to 9. Get out ahead of some other groups and could still finish the round before having to go back into work. Well it rained the entire round, never super hard, but also never stopped. Ended up going through a pair of rain gloves and 3 other gloves when the round was all said and done. Struggled off the tee the first 7 holes and started to find a groove after that. It isn't a very easy course overall. A lot of the holes have tight landing areas or massive bunkers right where you want to land or try to make a big carry over it. 

The par 3's are decent as well. First one is 170, second 160, third 200 and last is 145. Which is a semi island and the 18th hole so it can be a real deal breaker on the round. However this round I hit the shot of the day!

Also I like the look of this scoring card what app are you using? 

I blocked my tee shot OB on a par 3. I then put the easiest shot in golf (the second ball off the tee) on the green and two putted.

 

The scoring app is called MiScore. It's an Australian-based software company (not sure if they export) that many golf clubs here use. At our club, we use the software to manage tee time bookings (That element is called MiClub. It has a really fair feature where it randomly assigns members a queue number when bookings open. In our previous system, there would be groups that camp in the same tee time week after week and you almost had to wait for someone to die to get a tee time in the morning session), prize balances from competitions, club newsletter, and there's a scoring app that replaces a physical scorecard. We've had it at our club for a little over a year (Peaksy's club have had it for much longer) and it's been a great system.

Me too.  Best way is to use the webpage and not the app on the phone.  Much more clear scorecard, just looks different than the phone version and you can get a full screencap.

I'm hoping weather around here is good this weekend too.  Playing Glendoveer on Sunday.  

I played Heron Lakes Great Blue on Tuesday, but I'm holding out posting until I know what Sunday ends up.  It was pretty atrocious.  Lost 12 balls... 

Ended up with net score of 88 and 3 net birdies.  Just gotta stay out of the water!

No shame here, golf was invented to humble us on occasion. Or often. Haha.  Thanks for posting!   

Always loved playing Heron Lakes, green and blue are layed out so differently, but both are fun tracks.

I only got to play 9 holes on Tuesday with my wife and BIL, so finished the back nine yesterday.  Columbia Point GC in Richland, WA.  Course Handicap = 4.

Front 9 is par 37... Shot 40 with birdies on #1 and #2; Net birdie on #7
Back 9 is par 35... Shot 38 with a birdie on #13; Net birdie on #10

5 Net Birdies

Gross Score 78:  Net Score 74

Three doubles hurt a lot.   Maybe I can play better this weekend.

As we head into the weekend we already have 11 scores posted in the first week of the Virtual MGS Forum Championship!

Awesome to see everyone out playing some golf and posting those scores.  

The leaderboard has been updated as of this morning (top of the thread) - we currently have a tie for 1st place in the Net Low Score category with @Blueberry_Squishieand @Alf. S both posting net scores of 6 under par this week. 

Competition Guideline Update/Clarification: Play often and Post often - we will track all scores (even multiples) on the leaderboard, however each member can only claim one badge per week (in the order of 1) Net Score, 2) Most Net Birdies 3) Long Drive) regardless of how many scores you post. 

Looking forward to seeing how the weekend unfolds!

I played Compass Pointe this week and in the interest of providing a last place entry i will just say i shot a two year worst score of 91 as a 5 handicap!  With that net 86 number i dont think slope / rating, net birdies or eagles or any other side detail numbers should be expected !

Maybe next week will be better.
