I have 1 space left in the bag......what do I go for.

In my mind its between a longer iron (was looking at the ping crossover) a lower Wood OR at the other end get a 62degree in there.

Currently looking at Carry/total Average:

Driver: 250/270

3w: 210/235 (new club still dealing in)

4hybrid:200/215 (new club still dealing in)

5i:190/205

6i:180/190

7i:160/170

8i:150/160

9i:140/150

pw:120/130

50degree:110/115

54degree:100/100

58degree:90/90

Lets hear what people think.

May even be an idea to switch out the 58 for a 60 and play around with the wedges just works nicely with a 4degree change from PW to 58 at the moment.

also if anyone has used the ping crossover be good to hear thoughts!

It honestly looks like your biggest gap is between your 6 and 7 iron not sure how often you need a club going 170/180 but that is your gap. Personally I would look to bump in a 3 hybrid/5 wood/7wood to go 215/225 weaken the loft on the 4 hybrid and finally try to weaken the 6 and 5 iron some to gap all that better. I would avoid the 62 option as it is generally a tough club to hit and personally I only go down to 56 which is plenty of loft for me.

I'm still getting to grips with a few of the clubs in the bag being new. I would expect to see numbers closer to

260/280

220/240

210/220

at the top of the bag.

I think the top of the bag is the club to go for and fine tune the rest then.

The Ping Crossover intrigues me I like the look but it is whether its worth it over a Hybrid/Wood and if the distance fits in.

The small gap between 3W and 4H seems odd to me...  I would think that ideally that gap would be 30-40 yards and you could fit in a 2/3H or 5/7 Wood.

Are you really getting a 10 yard roll out with your 58?  I would expect more like 0 roll out from that lofted of a club with a full swing.

The low end of my bag looks the same as yours from 58 through 5iron.  My distances are shorter though, so I have room in between the 5 iron and mydriver for a few options such as the hybrid or 7 wood and a 5 wood. But you are gapped pretty well from your numbers above... with the one gap mentioned in the post before about your 7 and 6 iron.  So curious if the 7 and 6 are different setups?  Interesting that you get some more jump off the 6 iron... To me that might indicate the lofts aren't what you expect them to be in one or both of those clubs, which could be caused by a mixed set, which it doesn't appear yours is.  🤔

Good point DeB.  Normally you would expect the carry distance from the driver to be close to the total distance from the 3W.  Based on the driver distances, the 3W looks off.  4H looks to be about right to me.

Yes, getting to grips with the new 3W & this is the first hybrid I have ever had.

I may have to redo my gapping, as I have had 7irons carrying 185.

I think the need is definitely going to be around the top end of the bag, its seeing where it may be needed i'm imagining its going to be something fitting between the 3wood and hybrid. (I do expect to see my 3wood go to 225 when i'm more dialled in with it with no swing speed change, path is good just face is a bit all over the place at the moment but slowly improving.

The 58 you are 100% right that was a mistake on my part it total's the same as carry/same with 54 (maybe get 1-2yards total from those depending on the lie in either direction if its spinning back) the 50 gets the 5yard rollout.

Assuming your 3wd distances are not correct then I'd agree you can fit something between your 4 hybrid and 3 wood, otherwise you might just leave the bag alone and/or replace your 3 wood or swap it for a 5. You should be getting more distance out of that spot in your bag based on the distances you have listed for your other clubs.

Don't think there is ever a need to have a 62 in the bag unless you play on some specific course where it would be beneficial.

Isn't the ChipR basically a lower lofted iron using a putting stroke.....think I can do the same shot that it gives with a club already in the bag used in a different way.

I resisted putting a 60* wedge in my bag for more than 30 years because of bad results that I got when using one in the late 1980s. However, I recently purchased a 60* full-face Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedge and placed my 58* wedge on the sidelines. At the same time, I bent my 54* to 55* loft. I think that something similar might work for you—and you could forget about adding a 62* wedge to your bag.

I’m also in agreement that there should be a much wider yardage gap between your 3w and your 4h, and that—plus that gap between your 6 and 7 irons—should be your focus. If it turns out that you indeed do have a bigger yardage gap than it appears you do between the 3w and your 4h, I would suggest looking at something like a Cleveland Halo Hy-Wood (18* loft) or a fairway wood in the 18* to 20* loft range.

…. and get those lofts checked on your 6 and 7 irons; something doesn’t seem right there.

I’m a low ball hitter, so I added a 7 wood to carry a creek on a par 5 on my local course.  Now I get on in two more often!  Love seeing the ball flying high and landing softly with minimal rollout.  Total distance is similar to my 4 iron but the trajectory is much different.  Also the carry distance is greater.  Depends on the courses you play and wind conditions.

My bag setup and #'s are almost same as you. Think you can get more out of the 3W. Should be 230/235 carry, looking at your other yardages. I like my 3H for 215 carry, but could easily sub a 5 wood in for that for higher flight. I would only do 60 or higher if I was playing 3-4 times per week. Gotta be so clean with the high loft wedges. Would probably bend you PW 2 stronger to close the gap.
