That's kinda sad,  the internal seals only take a trained shop a few hours to change,  but a shop that doesn't know rotary would have no idea.

I don't even know of a single shop that could rebuild a rotary back in "my days" of really being into cars. My friend had a turbo FC, was always wondering what would happen if the seals blew.

My first car was an 89 240sx coupe. Ordered a JDM front clip and swapped the motor, fenders, headlights, front bumper. Car pretty much had full bolt-ons, full coilovers, boost controller, but basically stock outside of that. Was probably one of the first ~20 or so SR20-swapped on the island at the time. Pretty fun car, used to spin the tires all the way till 3rd gear, and really easy to get sideways. 2004 me wasn't playing golf because all of my money went into my POS car lol.

I bought this 1975 Mustang II Mach I from the cash I earned working as a dishwasher/busboy, just after getting my license.  By the end of that year, I had to go to traffic school and my parents insurance company dropped me from the policy.  It was just so fun to go fast!  I also dumped a lot of money into that 302, Edelbrock manifold, Holley carb, 5 angle valve grind, custom cam, custom built C4 transmission and torque converter, high volume oil pump, deep sump oil pan, hooker headers, 2.5" straight exhaust, etc.   I did all of the work myself except for the valve grind and the transmission.  🙂  Even as an adult, I ended up spending a lot of money on Pirelli tires for that thing.  I had that car until 2000, though not aa a daily driver.

Later on, at about 17, I had a 2 wheel version of a death machine, a 1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo 2.  That 650 would outrun 750's all day long.  And, of course, any Harley.  🤣  I still have the scars from that bike, we tried really hard to kill each other.  🤕

I loved both of these vehicles!!

Love the Mustang, I had 2 both coupes. my second one had a 302 that I built up to 350-375 hp.. Way to Fun... would run as low as 14.1 in 1/4 mile.. and Top out around, Hell I have no idea as the speedo stopped at 120.. lol

My first vehicle was an 89 Chevy C1500. Bought it off my cousin who did most of the body work but then had the original V6 engine blow up on him. I built a custom TBI 350. Incredibly impractical (could break the back end loose at 50 mph on dry pavement) but a ton of fun.

My first car was a yellow stock 1973 Vega GT Hatchback with a green interior - heh, it was all I could afford in 1976. I couldn't find a picture of a stock example online.

I then had a white Ford Granada for about 9 months (what was I thinking), then a yellow 1975 Corvette. Looked nice, fairly quick in a straight line, couldn't get around a corner to save it's life - sold that within a year. POS. It's been all responsible car ownership since then...

Pretty much. Mine had plainer stock wheels, no rub strip and I don’t think it had the plastic bumper extensions or a stripe package (not sure).

Ok, I'll fess up. I had a station wagon. But at least it was a cool one. 2005 Dodge Magnum purchased new. After three transmissions during my ownership, in 2014 I traded it in.

Yeah those were cool "sport wagons" (presumably you had a Hemi in it).

Had a similar situation with an '08 .. I think? .. Chevy Suburban that repeatedly had TCM troubles; had to keep bringing it to the dealer for replacement .. fortunately all under warranty! After the third or fourth time traded it for a '12 which ran much more reliably (and a friend is now driving).

1989 Pontiac Sunbird...  And it was an LE...To this day have no idea what that meant, manual transmission.

And since then I've owned 3 other vehicles.  1990 Ford Ranger 2WD pickup, 2000 Nissan Frontier 4WD pickup, and 2017 Mini Cooper.

AND NO the Mini is not my wife's hand me down, that I was ordered to drive. Its a clubman, and my golf clubs fit nicely in the back with the back seats folded down.  Not that I'm touchy about the subject!!!🤣  AND NO its not really that small!!🤣🤣

The first vehicle I drove which was what I learned on was a 1985 2 door Toyota 4runner. My family sold it after we had near 600,000 km on it, but I loved that vehicle. Wasn't hard to drive and had a role bar in it which i thought was cool. Even had the old 4 wheel drive where you had to get out and flip the hub caps. So many good memories...

I should backpedal slightly on this now...seeing all the minivan posts has rekindled my memory! The first vehicle I regularly drove after I got my license was a hand me down 1999 Ford Windstar limited. Maroon with leather seats and the fake "running boards" that were really just plastic and I believe one of my bigger friends broke when he stepped on it 🤣. I drove that for a good 8 months before getting "my" first car, which was the '96 Acura. My dad always had mini vans and I'll tell you what, my buddies and I had an absolute blast riding around in them during the summer going to basketball leagues, baseball games, football camps, etc. Oh the memories!

First car I had was a '62 Cadillac Sedan De Ville, it was really a pain in the arse when we had the odd/even gas rationing. It was affectionately referred to as the "Party Barge" and the back seat was as big as a (dare I say it?) love seat. Incredible memories.
