Was a hard week to get on the course here in the U.K the weather really has turned. 

Back at Stoneham Golf Club (I got the slope wrong last week not in my favour my Course Handicap is a 24 not 22)

Don't worry about that was my mistake last week. Annoyingly I saw on this weeks round the app I use for scorecard if it doesn't have the info for the rating/slope it inputs generic 72/113 numbers happy i discovered this week after comparing the physical scorecard. 

 

If I'd realised last week would have been a net:64 net birds:11

Cold, rainy, and aerated greens but I managed to get a round in for week 4.

Wind was a blessing and a curse today

The result, a lot of great but missed approach shots.

On th flip side, 30 mph wind really helps get the ball down the field.

 

Long drive today was 337 yds!!!

This made me check my app too. The course and slope ratings were a bit off for me too. I'm using GolfPad. If anyone else is using this, you might check the numbers against https://ncrdb.usga.org/ and/or the BlueGolf website. I noticed the BlueGolf site had accurate rating and lengths.

Thanks snicerz... first of all... NICE DRIVE today!!  Second... did the difference in slope and rating change your course handicap?  I will get it updated on the leaderboard.

Yes, it's actually 7 from the whites according to the USGA site

Ok cool...  so both rounds this week, you shot 74 - so net 67 (-4), correct?  That will change your net birdies count as well... I can calculate that off the scorecards you posted (looks like 6 net birds on today's round - I'll go back and calculate the last round as well if I have this all correct based on the new course 'cap).

Played after pruning two large evergreen shrubs; back, shoulders and arms hurt!!  

Same score as yesterday, but not one birdie or even a net birdie.  However, I didn't have any doubles or worse either!!

I was really disappointed...  My wife gave me stereo violins on her fingertips!!

@ChitownM2 posted a net 66 at Bloomingdale GC to finish the week at 5 under par - winning the Week 4 Low Net Score by one stroke over a 5 way tie for 2nd including @Golf2Much @snicerz @badgergolf and @fozcyclewith rounds of 4 under par.

 

Most Net Birdies or Better:

@fozcycleled the field this week with 9 net birdies or better in his round at Plantation Palms - with hot pursuit by @ChitownM2, @Golf2Much, @badgergolf, and @snicerz .  @fozcyclewill sport the Low Birdie badge for the upcoming week!

 

Longest Drive:

Week 4 continues to highlight some big hitters, with 5 individual drives posted over 300 yards. 

@snicerzunleashed the winning bomb this week, with his measured drive of 337 yards - some 16 yards past the nearest competitor @Golfspy_TCB with a 321 yard drive.  @snicerzclaims the Long Drive Badge for Week 4.

Thanks foz!  Things are finally starting to come together....amazing what a few good rounds in a month will do for your handicap.  I think I've dropped 4 strokes since late September.  Hoping to keep the ball rolling.

What I am realizing is that I need to play more bad golf to raise my handicap and swing faster.   Fun to participate but I have zero belief that I can score well enough to complete with this group;  some great golf being played based on handicap level.   I get a long drive that could complete every so often so I think that will be my only way to get a jacket.

There is definitely less margin for lower handicap players Cnosil.  I started this as a net game since the handicap system is designed to allow all players of all skill levels play and compete together on a level playing ground - and have some fun stacking our scores up against each other.  My hopes of winning a black jacket are pretty low as well... but I'm enjoying posting my scores in the mix of the other members.  

I am also considering a way to also have a Gross game, though it is a little more difficult to do that across all the different courses the members play... and finding a way to account for the relative difficulty of those courses (like the course handicap calculation does).  We will try to come up with a plan for a Gross game as part of Season 2 - which begins the first week of April :).  

In the meantime, I hope you continue to post your scores... and you never know when a few shots under your handicap may just walk away with the top prize for the week!

I will continue to post my scores and I get how this all works.  What you are doing is the best way to run this format.   My score is what it is and even if I have the worst score for the week,  it will get posted....maybe I can get enough points for a season long win

Yep!  Same for me.  Impossible for me to post a score like -4 Net to Par; that would equal my career low round at my course.

BTW, I tied myself... twice!!  Dang, I'm consistent!

Unfortunately I didn't get a round in Sunday after all.  Forgot about a school open house that I needed take son #oldest to.  Week 5 is my week!

A bit late posting, but I was mediocre anyway

Saturday 22nd October The Vintage GC. 9 over playing off 8. 2 straight birdies, 3 handicap birdies. No drives of any length due to wet fairways and me being a bunter.

Sunday 23rd October Cypress Lakes GC. 7 over playing off 6. 2 straight birdies, 3 handicap birdies. Drives even shorter as fairways were even wetter.

Ridiculously consistent scoring, but done in very different ways. Felt I played much better at The Vintage.
