I am VERY familiar with the west side of the cascades gavinski - well... and the east side.  If it isn't rain... it's snow.  Hope you have a mild winter and find a few openings to play between rain storms.

We have a new points leader for the year to date MGS Forum Cup Ponts Race.  

 

@Blueberry_Squishie has moved into 1st place with 1,352 points on the wings of his 2nd place finishes in each of the past two weeks of the VWCT, and tacking on a share of the Most Net Birdies points this week.  

 

Previous week leaders @EasyPutter and @GolfSpy_APH along with strong weekly scores posted by @snicerz and @fozcycle are all within striking distance in the top 5... really, it is anyone's game with a few months left in Season 1.  All it takes is one or two solid week's to jump up the leaderboard.  500 points awarded to each week's 1st place Finish, and 150 points available for the Most Net Birdies and Better and Longest Drive respectively.

Strong playing by @EasyPutterthis week with his 2nd Place Net Score and Most Birdies points vaulted him back to the top of the Forum Cup Leaderboard, knocking @Blueberry_Squishiedown to 2nd place overall - but just 228 points back.  @JFish350 and his 1st place finish along with the longest drive of the week has cracked the top 5 in the year long points race through Week 7!

A new Leader has taken the #1 spot in the YEAR TO DATE MGS FORUM CUP Points Race.  

@Blueberry_Squishie has regained his spot at the top of the leaderboard with his share of the low net score this week.  @Mr. Mushball has climbed into the top 10 on the wings of his share of this week's victory as well.  @snicerz @JFish350 & @fozcycle round out the top 5 points leaders through Week 8. 

Plenty of time left before the end of Season 1 - and plenty of points to be awarded!!!

Woohoo!!!  still in 2nd place!!!  I think I know how Tiger Woods was feeling in the time after his accident when he was unable to play yet his World Ranking was still riding high on the leaderboards despite his inability to make a single putt.

Come on guys, you can do better than the guy who can't post a score! Hahaha

It takes a while for those of use that have low handicaps to get enough points to move up with everyone seemingly shooting well enough to shoot below par rounds every week.

Totally feeling a Tiger Woods moment of no-play and still up the leaderboard.  Is it possible to get vertigo up so high not being used to it at all? 
(Sorry but I honestly don't understanding the statistics thing, my Business Analytics educated daughter usually helps me to understand what numbers mean.  Just give me an azimuth and distance... )

The cup is going to someone else as it should!!!    I'm rooting for everyone still playing golf!

If it is any consolation, my handicap after the last few rounds has dropped to a 2.1 (course handicap of 2).  And based on the chart above, I will need to play another 700 rounds before shooting 6 under again... That seems about right.

One of my old course pro's once told me... if you can get down to a 2 handicap you are scratch and can shoot any score on any day.  So I'll play at scratch going forward.   

Of course I think he also meant I have the ability of shooting 102 at any day too.  He was a bit of a enigma that pro... ??   haha.

Per the chart yes, but based on typical tournament scores your next -6 score would just be you next tournament round

That has been the trend in this comp... you are right, but I can pretty much guarantee you that won't be my personal experience.  . 

I'll add a "gross badge" in the next results.

@Golfspy_TCB For next year we may need to find a better spot for the leaderboard (maybe the side) I can just see this taking off and having 400 or so participants and us having to scroll for 8 minutes before we get to the comments haha!

I'm just giving everyone a hard time. I am actually getting exposed as a potential vanity handicapper since I have only beaten my HDCP once in my last 20 rounds. Not great!

Hey, I respect and welcome any criticism.    Prior to my last few rounds, I thought I could be considered a vanity cap too.  With the handicap system as it is... best 8 scores and 96% of those best 8... it should be extremely difficult to shoot or beat your handicap.  My issue is... I can play like a +2 for 15 holes, and a 36 for the other 3... Or worse, a +2 for 15 holes and a 36 for the next 3 holes plus a few more full rounds.. I have no idea how I kept it together last week!!

I seldom shoot my handicap but some of the courses I play are considered difficult so   lower scores pull my handicap down.

I misspoke (if it matters) and I actually mean my "differential". My home course is rather low rated (fairly short) and is rated like 67.0/113 for a par 70 so even if I "shoot my handicap" at 76 (+6 on the par 70) my differential is going to be like 9.0, if that makes sense. So in order to shoot my differential, I have to shoot 72 or better on the par 70 which hasn't happened in (check calendar).....quite some time

JFish took away my only chance at moving-up the rankings, longest drive of the week, so I’m going to find a rock hard course with some downhill holes so I can win a couple more times!!! As a 4.4 hcp I have zero shot at moving-up by scoring!!! This is a ton of fun, though!!!! Maybe “LIV-it-up a little” and get some teams going next year! Ha!!!!

It just takes one out of control round.  I've seen a 3 handicap get -6 net and get some points, it could happen to anyone!

The only out of control round I have is when I shoot 90; it happens! The best I can do is a gross par but that's only happened twice in my life.  As a 4 course handicap I'm very lucky if I shoot a net par.

Sorry, I wish I could consistently drive the ball that far in the fairway. Most of the time it's off in the Tully's behind a tree or bush or Livingroom. The one I hit in AZ was flush and did what I wanted. Every blind squirrel finds a nut once in while.

Looking forward to seeing the newest update to the overall leaderboard for the MGS Tournament!  This is going to get very complicated following all the different tournaments by type and I hope @Golfspy_TCB is up to the challenge  if not no worries, it is by no doubt a significant time consumer keeping tabs on each competition by week and this is over the top with tabulation and computation

Through 10 Weeks the some positions on the leaderboard have changed, but maintaining the top spot with a strong performance (and points) during Week 10 is @Blueberry_Squishie.  I will take some good weather and solid play from his followers!  @EasyPutterr remains in the #2 spot, but after a good week, @snicerzis closing the gap.

@Golfspy_TCB, @fozcycle, @JFish350, @Alf. S, @daviddvm, @Mr. Mushball and @MGoBlue100 round out the top 10, but all 41 players with points... AND ANY MEMBERS NOT YET POSTING SCORES are still in the hunt.  

 

Remember, "Season 1" of the year long MyGolfSpy Forum Cup race lasts until the end of March - so still loads of time to post your weekly scores and tally those points to BRING HOME THE CUP!!

No golf this week (or next probably) but we’re managing to make due. Visited some archeological sites (Coba & Tulum) yesterday, and saw a relatively new development at Tulum Country Club with a lot of PGA badging. I’ll be doing more research about that. In the meantime, this is Elements, a condo resort in Playa del Carmen.
