null
I know we have a larger mid-atlantic regional thread, but thought it makes sense to have a thread with a smaller regional focus for those of us looking to meet up more regularly. We seem to have more and more from the Central NJ and Easter PA posting on here now but I don't think any of us have ever met or played around together. We can use this threads to talk about more local courses and look for others to play with in our area. cksurfdude and richk9holes
null
I do most of my golf practice (and equipment buying) at Pennington Golf Center. The owners are incredible ,and even though it isn't the closest driving range to me, I prefer to go there to practice. If anyone ever wants to meet there to hit a bucket and then grab a drink afterwards at a local bar, I'd love the company. They also have a great mini golf course which my sons love. My "home courses" are primarily the Mercer County courses -- mainly Mercer Oaks East and West. I love playing all the various public courses in the area (grew up in Somerset County) so very familiar with all of the courses there too. cksurfdude and christina42

Instead, they have the OEMs come to do private fitting days which are great, especially if you have an intention of buying something Mercer county course are really solid. Very credible rumor from that rough storm that hit Mercer County recently is that Mercer Oaks West has over 500 trees down due to a tornado/tornados that ripped through. Supposedly the course and is a complete mess as well as closed unitl further notice for clean up. It may be a while before that course opens up but the East course is open. I don't know if any amount of convincing could get me to pay money to play there again I can understand that sentiment. The conditions are rarely if ever up to my preferred standards. I really wish they would invest in better drainage and redesign the short par 3 on the front nine with the swampy tee box. That being said, the cost to ride a cart at twilight is half the cost at most other courses. So that's what keeps this one in my rotation. If I'm paying for speed golf afternoon to sunset where I might not finish 18, I prefer not to drop $40-60 plus tax/tolls or more that nicer courses are getting. I broke the cart path law twice yesterday, don't tell anyone. One drive went pop up dead left on #5 and the path plays to the right. I drove down to the previous tee and did a 90° to my ball and back to the path. Drive on #10 was my worst slice of the day, couldn't find it for a couple minutes before I realized it was in the other fairway. So I used the path to get to the ball, but had to break cart path law on the way back to the 10th green for the sake of time. People were coming out of the clubhouse onto the tenth tee and I was in danger of being hit by a hacker similar to myself looking to play #10 down the twelfth fairway as total strategy and not the result of the worst slice he's hit in weeks. What time did you play yesterday? We were both there. I was up from the last night still and just decided to stay up and play and got a 6:24 am Tee time. After 18 I snuck in 5 extra holes with some guy who was walking. But yeah, my goal here is to hit on the fairway close to the path. The 4th hole the par 5, if you hit to the right near the treeline, you might as well be walking. Then yeah the 5th tee has a weird angle where your aiming to the other fairway so I tend to pull it more to the left. I landed on the bunker left of the green since its a drivable green but I have sliced it to the other fairway a few times on that hole. Yeah me beinng in county for Mercer county and only 5 minutes from Mercer Oaks is a godsend. $31 to walk on weekend mornings
richk9holes
2:30 today at Mercer East was $17.99, actually cheaper than Gambler Ridge does the hot deal. But it's $10-12 in gas and 2:30 is in that "might not be a full 18" zone this time of year.
