McCabe Golf Course - par 70, played the North 9 twice

Rare early morning round for me, played my local municipal course which is a 4 course handicap (par 70) for me with one caveat, they had us play the same 9 twice. So not sure if that counts? Anyways, I went 37/37 on the same 9 which results in:

74 (Course Handicap of 4 plus par 70) - 74 (gross score) = 0, even

Long drive of 304 yds (25 feet downhill, some wind at my back)

Gross Birdies: 2 + Net Birdies: 1 = 3 total birdies

Posting a round out of the gate Vandy!!  Some pretty strong stats too.  Especially that 304 yard drive.

Haven't been able to get a round in in a few weeks due to travel and family activities.  Looking forward to playing hooky this week and getting one on the books.  Weather has finally turned here and the ground is good and soggy, so should be helpful to keep things in bounds. 😜

I'd say I'm psyched to try my new 4 hybrid, but after not being able to hit anything longer than a 6 iron at the range today I think I should keep it in reserve.  We may need a bit of time to get to know each other.

I have come to the conclusion that, within limits, course rating bears minimal relationship to my score. I can play a course rated quite low and I won't end up playing anywhere near my handicap. I'm posting this round, but I should play again on Friday, and I am hoping for a better result.

Circling Hills GC, Harrison OH Rated 66.3/117, par 71 Course handicap is 3, shot 79 for net 76, 5 over. 1 natural birdie and 2 net birdies, longest drive 260ish.

Yesterday was an experience. . . Cold and wet. Everythign was short but at least I got some good practice in with the wedges.

78 total, net 69 for 2 under

5 birdies (1 natural)

"Long" drive was 279. It just wasn't happening.

First round of the week started off great but then came to a grinding halt on the back nine. Shot a 42/46:90 - CH 14 = 76 less Par 72 = +4….FIR 10/14 for 71% GIR 1/18 for 11% with 30 putts. I only had 3 net birdies and my long drive was 210.  Was actually under the influence for most of the round.  As a Veteran, I suffered through 4 inguinal hernia surgeries due to Uncle Sam.  I take pain meds daily to keep the issues at bay but today I had major pain so I took a Hydrocodone after I got to the course….this masked the pain and caused a few other issues, such as coordination. I have not needed to do this for 2 or 3 years, but I keep the meds with me just in case.

Considering it's Spring for you, you'll have a better chance than most of us at this point.  I still hope I can be the dark horse in this, I'll play in any weather.  Don't have to do well if you are adding more often than most.

I was able to get out for 2 nines this week, combined front and back at my home course for gross 78 (38/38).  Tonight I was testing out the TSR3 driver with the Otto Phlex shaft installed (Graffaloy ProLaunch Blue in "L" flex) and I was in a couple of positions I have never been in before.  There is something to this ultra flex shaft... I have had a good response to it - may not work for everyone, but it is working for me.

I had one mini blow up hole - taking a double when playing my first 9 earlier this week -  by getting lost in the trees for a while on my nemesis hole.  Other than that, 3 natural birdies and one net birdie - total=4.

  • Course: Willow Fork CC
  • Course Handicap: 4
  • Gross Score: (38/38) = 76 (+4)
  • Net Score: 72 (even)
  • Net Birdies or Better: 4
  • Longest Drive: 275

Hoping to have 2 or 3 more rounds before the end of the week 🙂

Tuesday round at Terrey Hills GC. More mediocrity, 13 over playing off 9, stroke rating of 1 over so effectively played 3 worse than handicap. Course was as wet as any I’ve played, but the greens were excellent. Rarely saw a ball bounce on the fairways so short again. No natural birdies and 3 handicap birdies

Since I will be busy on Saturday getting my annual training as a poll worker for next month's election, I'll have to post today's round.  My home course is Key West Golf Club and I play from the white tees (par 70, 69.5/129).  My course handicap is 13 (index=11.6).  I shot a gross 81/net 68 or -2.  I had 4 net birdies and my longest drive was 190 yards (or about 20 yards farther than last week's longest).

Overall, I had a great day driving and chipping the ball.  I hit 86% of the fairways today and my performance average drive distance was 181 yards (about 12 yards farther than other rounds this month).  Why?  The fairways are drying out a little more (post-Ian), but I think switching to a OnCore's Vero X1 golf ball made a difference.  I have a low 70's mph driver swing speed and I was hesitant to give the ball a try.  With a sample size of one, it exceeded my expectations as it flew farther and performed more consistently around the greens when compared to both the Elixr models.  The thing that saved me today was my chipping.  I typically get up and down roughly 4 times per round.  I rely on my approach game and putting to score.  Heaven knows I'm not going to overpower a course with 70 mph swing speed and 180 yard drives!  Today my short game approach average proximity was 8 feet with almost half between 0-5 ft.  That yielded getting up and down two-thirds of the time!  It would have been a little higher, but I lipped out about three or four putts.  For the round, I gained over 2.5 strokes in my short game over a typical 10 handicap.  That helped keep my total putts down to 26 total.

As a tester for the Shot Scope LX+ earlier this year, I have to tell you utilizing the H4 and their statistics has given me a greater insight into my game.  It has helped me rethink my course management and identify areas I need to practice.

It was a good day and I look forward to keeping the Vero X1 ball in play in the coming weeks!

Certainly had better rounds but was enjoyable to get out and play. Don't think I'll play that course again this season. It is so wet and muddy that there are areas which are borderline unplayable.

I know it's getting to the off-season for golf in a lot of areas - but I know there are more scores out there to post!!!

As we enter the weekend, and last two days to play and post rounds for Week 5 Glory (and a chance to add to your year long points total!!), @snicerzand @Golf2Much are leading the pack with net scores of 2 under par.

@snicerzhas posted the most net birdies or better so far with 5 and the Longest Drive is @vandyland with his 304 yarder.

Plenty of time left to get out and play - and post scores on this thread... maybe your round will award you the Winner's Badge for the week:

Okay so here goes

Course Otelfingen
Score 87
Hdcp 10
CR 71.3
Slope 134
Course Hdcp 12
Net 77
Long Drive 265
Net Birdies 3

Just a rough round that did finish okay thankfully however a slow start kinda doomed it. As I mentioned previously I think this is my last round there for the year. It is so wet and every ball is a mud ball. I have one more round Monday at another course and I think that will wrap up my season and I will stick to range and top tracer time.

Just want to be sure I have the correct scores.  You noted your handicap is 10 and course handicap is 12... so should that be a net 75?  Assuming a par 72, you were +3 to par.  ?

6:30 A.M. Thursday morning, I’m off to the club to play. I zip onto the interstate to hop off the next exit then straight to Plantation Palms.  Uh oh! As I got on the interstate for my 4 mile jaunt to the next exit, I noticed all had come to a halt. Fast forward 5 hours later as I exit the interstate to find a restroom quickly….guess I missed my game.  Oh well, I turned around and came home. So I booked a time this morning to make up for missing Thursday.  Shot a 42/43:85 FIR 11/14 79% GIR 6/18 33% with 31 putts. I also had an Up & Down of 43%. My partner, Dave, lives off hole #15 is 85 yrs old and he shot a 90!

That gives me an 85 - CH 14 = 71 versus Par 72 = -1

i had a 191 yard Longest drive with 6 Net Birdies
