I just noticed in the rules that you need to make you final swings with the "same driver."  @ejgaudette that could be an issue for some members here... there's going to be a whole bunch of shiny new drivers released between now and then, and more than one of us have issues with shiny new things. 🤣

Took the PRGR to the course for a quick evening 9.  I was swinging a lighter club (see Otto-Phlex thread.... 45g "L" flex) which is different than the club I'm using for the swing challenge (65g "R" flex), but was surprised to see 96mph on the radar on one drive and several others at 95mph.  The part that surprised me was getting decent speed on the course, hitting a ball - opposed to no ball trying to swing all out.  Now the few mph increase may be completely related to the lighter club weight... but knowing what every LM at every range and fitter has shown me over the past year... those are new numbers for me.

As of Late just been stretching. Besides getting my numbers I have not touched a club in 2 weeks. Going to keep it that way for a little bit

im focusing on this late fall early winter on getting some bothersome areas stretched and walking at work everyday. Once I get the gym setup at the house im hoping I’ll be good flexibility wise. It’s been a tough few months out of my routine and it shows.

My plan is to start the insanity program come December 1st which has always been a really good Program for me. I really need the flexibility I get from it and overall strength. Once I’m a few weeks in will add in some light weights and superspeed.

Took a few dry swings after my range session yesterday. Up a few mph to 107 now with no real training so far. Considering this followed a gym session, PT appointment, and range session, I like seeing some small improvement so far.

Frustrated by my training as of late.  I'm repeating Full Speed Spectrum and I'm skeptical that I'm going to be any farther along than when I started.  That said, it does look like I'm slowly creeping towards some gains...592406106_Stack19512Nov.png.ea6e3a320a0043063c4951695d329de2.png

I am pretty sure the culprit is my own poor recovery habits; I find myself up late writing a paper or reading, then up 4 hours later to hit the gym.  But, I'm gonna keep grinding, and hopefully sleeping a little more lately.

I finally feel like I’m loose. My hips are finally loosened up and have good motion again. I don’t know what I did but I was all sorts of locked up.

i got into plane-mate today and will continue for a bit until I get in a good workout routine as I discussed yesterday. I have found my best speed comes when my form is much better. Plane-mate actually  helps me drive and rotate so hoping adding this in in the mean time gives me some benefits when I start taking speeds again. Going to avoid taking readings for a bit and just focus on the work.

Had a lesson on Saturday using Trackman, while not a perfect comparison to the MEVO+ in my garage I used for my baseline (104) it was encouraging nonetheless. Many driver swings while hitting a ball were in the 105 MPH range and broke 107 MPH one time using the cues from the Drew Cooper/TXG video I posted in another thread. My goal is to cruise at 160 MPH ball speed next year and peak around 165. I was seeing 157MPH ball speed on Mevo+ and at least once on this Trackman session. In the past, driver swings with no ball have averaged 6 MPH faster than hitting a ball meaning I am in the 110-113 MPH range indoors.

My plan is to continue resistance training 2-3X/week in the gym with some jumps and medicine ball training to build a base (with some physio) along with MEVO+ sessions in my garage and 1-2 rounds of sim golf until I travel for 2 weeks at Christmas. In January, The Stack System and my 2nd pass through Full Speed Spectrum will become the focus while reducing resistance training to 1-2X/week along with continued technique work through lessons.

These initial numbers have me hopeful I could approach 110MPH playing speed next season if I can avoid injury and see further improvement with my right shoulder and golfers elbow. We have a brief break in the weather above freezing up in Canada, maybe I can get in some driver swings in the garage this week for an official update on driver speed without a ball.

Picking up a garage heater Tuesday in case the weather doesn't cooperate for the Stack in January and February. 🤑

I am thinking monthly would be a good cadence so lets got for 12/1 since that will be about a month since we started, but I am not going to be overly specific on those dates.

I just updated my "Need for Speed" thread with a sample workout yesterday, but suffice it to say I'm hitting the gym hard.  More of a bodybuilding/hypertrophy style when it comes to sets and reps, but I've been doing that for so long that I'd rather stay in that range and avoid any further injuries.  Every workout gets preceded with plenty of jumps, med ball, and plyo work to emphasize explosiveness first and foremost.

I hope to start sprinting in January but I don't think I'm quite there yet as far as my hamstrings and hip flexors holding up to it.

Hope everyone is hard at it as well; it'd be a shame if none of you put up a fight!  🤣

Yeah, I'm not trying to enter any local track meets, but sprinting is a great way to train overall explosiveness.  It's a staple training tool for Berkshire and other long drivers.

Yeah, I'm not trying to enter any local track meets, but sprinting is a great way to train overall explosiveness.  It's a staple training tool for Berkshire and other long drivers.

I have to start on that, I have no lower body power. It’s getting cold here though.

I recently asked Mike Carrol (fit for golf) about programming up strength and power workouts with over speed training and he recommended stopping strength when doing speed/power can help eek out a little more speed if you are closer to your natural ceiling. Contemporaneous card strength workouts can apparently slow potential speed gains. I’m tempted to periodize them this winter and see if it helps.

I think anyone can benefit from increased lower body strength training.  Most people, probably myself included, don't push themselves hard enough if they do train legs.

But, it does beg the question, are you actually lacking lower body power, or is it more of a question of not using what power you do have effectively?  I know for me my sequencing in using the ground effectively and getting that push-off jump in my downswing is lacking, and is a huge area for improvement for me.

I totally agree with this. I have always had a pretty solid base but for the life of me I can't seem to feel like I am using it. Maybe I am and I just don't have it measured, but would love to work on a force plate some day and see where those gains are. Watching Mark Crossfield make his gains with is plate just highlight how much I feel like I am missing.

For sure. I 100% don’t believe I’m using what I have all that great, especially since Ive never been on a force plate (I really want to). I’m just assuming based on how I’ve trained in the past. My strength background is all for rock climbing, which is really just back and forearms, so I’m just hoping to find some low-hanging fruit.

Got me thinking I should do an assessment though. Are there any good baselines online I could use?

TPI published an online mobility assessment that's useful, but you're asking more for a strength baseline.  I guess I'd argue that the only relevant baseline is your own.  If I were you, I'd keep a workout log.  I keep a log and track every lift, and make sure to either add weight or get one more rep each workout.  If you don't want to go to that extreme, then at least get a baseline of X weight for Y reps in your bench press, squat, and deadlift, and then check your progress each month.

My two cents. @BMart519probably has more useful insight than I do here...

I am happy to give you a one day grace period, we were supposed to close yesterday but just means you have one less day to get faster in my eyes. Also have not seen you post in a while so great to see you back.

Appreciate it.

Looks like my current baseline is 115mph on a PRGR.

Really hoping to reach 190mph ball speed going into next season. I have some ideas of how to get there but I will be going through an assessment on the 28th that will better help me craft my offseason speed plan.
