For those of you that are having more success with a pause at the top, is this a Hideki like pause at the top instead of a fast backswing?

For me it is nowhere near a Hideki pause, it is just a slower transition that allows my body to start the downswing. If I try to swing "hard" my arms outrace my body, sequencing is off and am slower.

I really should video the two different feels l have, but for me, I tend to see better numbers when I perceive either:

1) A slower, complete backswing, focusing more on staying in balance than anything else.

or

2) A faster backswing with what feels like a brief pause at the top.

I suspect the "brief pause" I feel at the top is likely more of my body getting synced up and finishing my backswing fully. I think sometimes the hit impulse can be greater for me with a faster backswing, and that causes all sorts of issues.

That makes sense.  If either of you gets the chance would you post a video?   I think I am falling victim to rushing into my downswing too quickly and getting out of sync.

For me it is a feeling of a pause at the top. When you watch on video though there is no pause. Its just the momentum of the club still going back and the pause is more of a trigger to get my weight to shift.

I remain convinced that the single most essential item for speed training isn't what you're swinging. The most essential item is a reasonably accurate speed measuring device. The immediate feedback as to what is and is not *actually* fast is the single most important factor in 1) pushing yourself to get faster and 2) knowing that you're getting more speed, not just more effort.

I apologize if you've written about this before - but have you connected your Mevo+ to the Stack app?  If so, has it been reliable and worked well?  Thanks and sorry if I'm being redundant

Great question, and I don't think I've written about it here.

I do use the Mevo+ integration, and I love it. It isn't flawless, but I have a kind of fringe usage case that likely helps break things. My actual phone is an Android, so I have a couple of iGadgets that I use because I have swing devices (including Stack) that are iOS only. So the phone I use to Stack has no SIM card. When I connect the phone to the Mevo+ to use with Stack, there are times the Stack app tries to check something online and can't, because it has no data connection. This is most common for me when I finish my Stack session and tell the app to switch users to Kirke; most often, I need to kill the app, connect to an actual wifi connection, switch users, kill the app again, connect to Mevo+, and then launch the app. Tedious and annoying, but not a deal breaker (and again, my way of using it is non-typical, which is why I suspect I break things).

The second issue we've seen is the rare instance (especially for me) of a Mevo+ misread on the last shot of a set. Without the Mevo+ integration, you can pretty easily re-enter a number if you typed it wrong or if it mis-heard you. If the Mevo+ misreads a swing mid-set, you can tell it to erase it and try again. But when you finish a set, if the last swing was wonky, and you tell it to let you edit the last swing, you're stuck: it doesn't re-read a new swing, and while you could type or say a new number, you have no number to input because the Mevo+ isn't telling you a speed because it's connected to the Stack app.

I've spent too many words describing these issues, which makes it sound worse than it is. Honestly, I wouldn't go back to any other method. Mevo+ integration has been a major win, a major upgrade, and I'm glad the Stack did it.

Thanks.  Smart move on Flightscope's part.  Be more indispensable.  Now if they'd just perfect the connection to the AppleWatch

I’ve been pretty sore since I started doing some sprinting two weeks ago, consequently (I think) I never got past my peak 111 Stack Speed and didn’t finish at a peak.  But, I’ll do a progress check Monday see what the recommendation is.

That said, I’m feeling a need to rest a bit more, and I have a trip to @GolfSpy_BOS‘s second home (Disney World) coming on the 16th of Feb, so I plan to go into some Cruiser workouts until I get back from that trip.

For what it's worth - I have the same exact setup with a SIM-less iPhone and have experienced this as well.

Phew! Big relief today as my speed miraculously is showing signs of coming back. I set a couple new personal bests during my Stack workout and my hitting session that followed was great. Saw my 6 iron sneak back up into the 99-100 range (and a little higher when I was going all out for fun). The really good news is that my driver started right around 112 and worked closer to 113 cruising during the session with my top speeds coming at 115+.

The small addition of a few more carbohydrates seems to be helping. I also PR'ed a few lifts this week and have been feeling really good (and am also down about 12 pounds from the holidays!).

I was really hoping to see 5+ MPH gains this offseason, but that was probably very unrealistic. Seeing 115 (and hopefully sustaining that) is still a small gain and I'm happy with that.

Great o see the progress. I am feel into some tough holiday schedule getting in the way. I am getting back to it the past couple week so playing a bit of catch up, but still feel like some speed is there. Closing in on only about 6 week left in the challenge. The Golden Hammer X is still up for grabs.

I’m curious what my Feb checking will be like. I am just getting over my third illness of January. Gotta love having a preschooler. Had to skip last Friday and today, so at least I’ll be fresh. Good news is the one illness helped me lose 5 pounds 🙄

I'm right there with ya, trying to get over my last one right now. Life, illness and laziness have killed my progress just hoping I don't go backwards to far...

Its that time of year boys, same boat. Luckily dodged a few illnesses (been taking some Mushroom extracts not sure if that has helped but seems like it did something anyway since I was the only one to not get sick) and falling off the ladder have not helped. Last week was only 2 days of superspeed work....no bueno

Did my progress check this morning...my driver set speed was 115 today, up from 110 at baseline! And the app has recommended...

Sigh.  Third time through Full Speed Spectrum, but I've decided not to second guess Sasho or the AI, and I'm certain I can benefit from the massive dose of Step swings coming my way.  I've actually got 5-6 Cruiser workouts coming first, then I'll launch into FSS on 22 February after the family excursion to Florida.

Minor Public Service Announcement on this…the Stack has a referral program.  The new buyer gets $50 off the Stack with a code the current user generates, and the current user gets a year’s subscription value ($99).

Unfortunately, I was not really tracking/aware that the Stack requires an annual subscription… 😞

But, point being, if anyone on here does look to buy the Stack make sure to hit up one of the current users on the forum for a referral (doesn’t need to be me…)

What radar do those that have the stack system find works well? I have the Rapsodo but can’t seem to find a clear answer if it is compatible or not. I’m very interested in the stack system but really don’t want another radar.

Good question I think they have a note on their site, but the Rapsodo only works with a ball so it won't work with the Stack. I personally use a PRGR, other have the sport sensor radar. I think this is the list,

IIRC there was a period at launch that you could buy the stack and get a lifetime membership with it. So it depends on when it was purchased. I ordered mine just before, so I believe I have a lifetime subscription.

As and update I just signed on to Fit for Golf for a month to give it a try. Going to need to do it from home, but knowing the training is golf focused is a help and for foundations I should have what I need to get it done with some good challenge. Then we can assess from there. Just something to make some progress there. I am much better about getting aerobic training in like running, but I know this type of training will be very beneficial. We shall see how it goes.

Just a quick update on this:  I sent an email to The Stack System asking about the status of my subscription, since I don't see it listed in my iPhone subscriptions listing and I wasn't sure if maybe I was early enough to get in on the lifetime subscription,  Here's the response I got:

" Hi Hayes,

Yes, when TheStack first came out there was lifetime access for early adopters, and the first 2 years are free for everyone right now. If you haven't been prompted to get an Apple Subscription then you are within your 2 years and we haven't prompted you to get that done yet. I looked up your account and you have the free app use until Feb 17, 2024 right now (another year). You can also use the referral program (menu in the app) to get more free years of app use. The next update will be showing free trial and subscription information so you'll be more informed at that point too."

So, a new user right now gets 2 years of app use out the gate.

Again, if anyone is thinking about making the jump to the Stack, hit one of us up for the referral code...mutually beneficial.

I’m curious about this too, looking forward to hearing about it.

by the way, I think Mike Carroll is now an ambassador for the Stack. In case anyone needed more of a push.

Even as someone who hasn’t seen a dramatic speed increase yet using the Stack, the system is motivating.
