kylebennett006
Please forgive my potential ignorance here, but isn't ball speed a much better indicator of speed improvement? I know quite a few golfers who can swing fast and hard, but because their mechanics are poor, they don't have optimized ball speeds. Not entirely wrong in my opinion, but you also have to keep in mind that some people won't realistically be able to hit balls due to weather, etc. Not to mention the effects of temperature on ball speed. Using dry swings with no ball is a way to normalize the field there with what is available to everyone. It also kind of sets a ceiling on potential speed. I would guess that most would see some level of speed decrease whenever a ball gets in the way of a swing. kylebennett006, ejgaudette and edingc 3 Quote Driver: PXG 0811XF Gen 4 w/ Fujikura Motore X F3 6- 3 Wood: PXG 0341XF Gen 4 w/ Mitsubishi Diamana S+ 70g Hybrids: 19 and 22 degree PXG 0317XF Gen 4 w/ Project X Evenflow Riptide 80g Irons: 5-PW PXG 0311P Gen 4 w/ KBS Tour 120 Wedges: Indi 50 FLX, 54 FLX, 58 ATK w/ KBS Wedge 610 (Official Review) Putter: Battle Ready Blackjack, 36.5”, Double Bend neck Spornia SPG-7 hitting net review 2023 Titleist White Box ProV1 review

GolfSpy SAM
Bummer - just pulled the trigger on the RypStick, but I'll be following along, for sure! I'm about to buy the PRGR - thought I'd be okay with my Swing Caddie, but it's an older model and doesn't register swing speed even remotely closely enough without a ball there, so...I guess part of my bonus is paying for a(nother) new thing, lol. Super curious to see how you all do! I'm a bit late to this thread, so catching up has been fun. And FWIW, my driver speed is usually right about 100-101 - I'm aiming to get it up past 105 to see what that does for my drives. I mean, 10 yards is 10 yards, even if it's 30 yards right. The Rypstick RypRadar, Golf Swing Speed Radar on Amazon is probably the cheapest followed by the blue sports radar. Both are probably good enough. A step,up,would be the PRGR radar which is a bit more expensive but has some additional measurements when you want to actually hit balls. ejgaudette
Just got in my speed check with some flurries coming down here in northern NH and today was a fast day. was able to go 108/107/108 before my speed training today. Speed training went very well. Finally got back to hitting 130 with the light stick, 121 with the blue and 117 with the red. Matching some of my higher speeds back when I was training more regularly which felt great. I know the progress will not be linear but hoping to get the speed back I lost from dropping the training, about 110 at most, and then add on to that. (I'm not part of this thread as a participant, mind you, but thought I'd chime in anyway) I just bought the RypStick and the PRGR (separately, mind you), as everything I could find was saying that the PRGR was worth the price difference. I found the PRGR for $199 on Amazon - everywhere else I saw it listed at $220. It has more than just radar (so estimated distance, smash factor, etc.), but allows you to swing with no ball, which my current SC200 does not allow for. I'll be offloading the SC200 to offset the cost of the PRGR. Hope that helps! Feel free to warm up but not after the training. I usually hit at least a couple higher speeds after. Of course an off day works as well. 10 hours ago, Ubu said: Just got to a monitor speed of 105 Thanks for your interest unfortunately we have closed the sign up for this competition, but please come back and share about your journey and the speeds you gain. GolfSpy AFG
Progress check this morning at 112 mph. 3 swings after a warm-up but before my Stack Progress Check (which I'll post about in my Need for Speed thread...not sure exactly how to proceed...) 110, 113, and 113. I probably had more in the tank but didn't really sell out for these. ejgaudette, AndySP and Vegan_Golfer_PNW 2 1 Quote Driver: TSR2, Ventus Blue 6 S, 65g Stiff FW: TSR2 3w, 15, Ventus Blue 7 S, 70g Stiff Hybrids: Apex Pro 3H, Ventus Blue 8 S, 80g Stiff Stealth DHY 4H, Ventus Blue 8 S, 80g Stiff Irons: SMS 5-6, SMS Pro 7-PW, Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff Wedges: SM9 48 F Grind, 52 F Grind, 56 M Grind, Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff Putter: Sri-Hot 5K Triple Wide, Stroke Lab shaft Ball: Pro V1 Click here for my HONMA TR20 Official Review! What do you guys think about the timing of the test…before speed training or after? I feel looser/quicker after sometimes, but also more tired. Or should I just wait 24 hours and do it on an off day? Anyway, I made a bunch pf driver swings after a speed session a few days ago and I was a few mph slower (117-119), so I’m hoping for a better showing when it counts. I did a warm up, then probably 10 fast swings to get primed prior to the 3 swings. Then I jumped straight to stack and strength training after.
