and by hot, i mean hit...

The reason you have such a serious distance gap, I think, is because of the height you flight your wedges. I have struggled with the same issue for years. Finally, after playing with some really good players, I have learned that the lower flying wedges go a bit farther, and tend to stop when they hit, instead of backing up. For me, It is almost a punch shot... but it works.

Is that flight a difference in swing or wedge nic? Which brands are lower? They all seem to rocket up at 55*

So would you recommend reshafting my wedges to play the same as my irons, or changing my technique for hitting wedges?

I play KBS Tour shafts in my irons (stiff) and plain old Dynamic Gold wedge flex in the Vokeys.

4 wedges

60 Wood Bros 65yds

56 Wood Bros 85 - 100 yds

52 Paradise (cheap black chrome that rubbed off!) up to 110 yds

PW Callaway X16 125 yds

Practice with a weighted 60 LW De Rissa from Dr Birdie (I know, but it is excellent)

and a Callaway 56 that has rusted nicely.

Of course I will use any of the clubs at short distance depending on the lie, they all work well the only problem is the fool swinging them.

Post theft of my clubs and gear, I have all new:In the bags:

ClicGear cart bag; Mizuno Carry Bag.

Clic Gear 2.0 cart.

Lamkin mid size grips on all.

KZG Q 5 Wood, 19 deg with 37 lb Fierce Full Force shaft silver

KZG H370 Tour hybrid 22 deg with Silver NovaTech shaft 38 lbs

KZG forged cavity back CBIII wedges AW -5 iron, bent 3 deg up, with silver 38lb graphite NovaTech shafts

KZG 60 degree forged wedge NS shaft.

x forged '08 47 PW ( may be wrong with the degree?)

X forged chrome 52 wedge

x forged vintage 56 degree with mack daddy grooves

x forged vintage 60 degree with mack daddy grooves and c grind sole.

120 pw

100 52 degree

85 and in, 56 degree

my sixty is for flops short side and any thing else i need to get up quick and down with spin. I use a nike one platinum '08 model and lets say im a digger of the ball so spinning it is no problem and watching back up is even better.

Im thinking of getting a 50 degree wedge to close the gap of my PW and 52 but have to take out a hybrid to do it but i only hit it maybe once a round if any so thats the club to move for me. I dunno 5 might be nuts but 4 is definately right to have, a high percentage of shots for the game of golf is 120 or in so u need more tools for more shots right ?

If you saw my wedge groupings you would either laugh  or sad.gif

Wishon 52°, Feel 56°, Scratch 60° - bit of a mish-mash but it serves me well.

The Feel Face Forward catches me a bit of crap but the damned thing works pretty well.

The Scratch, Nirvana...

PW for up to 125 yards

52 deg for up to 110 yds

56.12 for up to 90 yds

60.04 for flop shots and up to about 70 yds.

I fill the yardage gaps by swinging harder, I think I can thin my sandwedge about 170 yards without thinking, which happens more than I like!

Sorry folks, I had already answered this.

Play four wedges and they all get called upon.

48° Pitching Wedge

52° Gap Wedge

56° Sand Wedge

60° Lob Wedge

The 4° difference between each wedge and the fact they are the same brand/model I think is a huge benefit when playing those shots inside 100 yds. Knowing the distance each club will carry with a full swing is key and it should be consistent between clubs. Having the same degree interval between clubs should help with that consistency. I believe having the same brand of wedges becomes more important as you start to get inside 60-70 yards where it becomes more of a "feel" (ok, at least for me it is) issue.

Driver: ADAMS Pro Speed 10 degree

48 Pitching Wedge - Diablo Edge

49 Hybrid Wedge - Cleveland Niblick

52 Gap Wedge - Cleveland CG14

56 Sand Wedge - Cleveland CG14

I thought the niblick was a bit silly when it was recommended to me but I've actually got fairly good use out of it so far.

Cast, and after some practice balls in the backyard, I am definitely in love. :P

Off to the course tomorrow. Liking the Pure grips and the KBS tour a ton as well.

The pure grips turn my hands black pretty quick. The KBS are a dream around the green. I think I am going to pick up a matching cast 53 to my 58 for my personal xmas present. Then I can give Steve back his forged 53. Be prepared for some nice back spin on the greens and chips checking a lot. I absolutely love mine!
